Thanks for this video! I just ordered TGATB US constitution unit, but I’ll save it for when my kids are older and will get more out of it! 🇺🇸We’ve done GR US History 1-3 mini units and they are great!
We just finished TGTB Constitution course! Started in September. I think it is a better fit for older kids as well, definitely wasn’t below my 9th grader and some of it was a bit above my 4/5th grader.
We've the GRH government and it was definitely a good place to start, but we are halfway through TGTB unit and honestly, we have enjoyed it much more. The novel makes a HUGE difference and I love that I don't even have to read it, I can just go to the website and have it read out-loud for us! Bonus! :)
I am doing the GATB course with middle schoolers/high schoolers at our co-op. It is definitely fine for those ages. They like the games and journaling (they all also give ridiculous accessories and colorful clothing to the founding fathers 😂). Everything for older kids doesn’t have to be writing research papers and other rigorous (and boring) work. I have a degree in political science and have learned a few things I didn’t know. **If anyone is interested in how to fit the course into a co-op setting and still cover everything, I have the kids pre-read the Constitution and the chapter book at home. We do all the other parts in class.
I snagged the pdf when it was free on their site (not sure if it still is) and then just purchased the read aloud and student Journal. We have yet to start it since my eldest is only in 3rd grade so I’ll probably wait until all of my kiddos are older, but I’m so happy to have it for when that time comes. We are absolutely a Good and Beautiful loving family🖤
Hey Christina! Thank you so much for reviewing this curriculum! I have been looking into the good and the beautiful US Constitution. I had no idea that you read the whole constitution which is super awesome! I appreciate your honesty and this really helped me determine if my fourth grader was ready for this curriculum. Thanks for sharing!😃
We just finished the good and the beautiful constitution unit. It definitely took us a year. We didn’t break up the lessons, but since it takes around an hour to do each lesson, we only really got to it 1-2 times a week. It is very in depth like you said. I used it for my 5th and 8th graders along with younger ones doing some of the coloring activities and games as well. I agree with this being more for older children especially Highschool. We will be doing it again in a few years since a lot of it went over their heads even though I have a child that loves history. Definitely recommend for highschool. We did really enjoy it especially the audio version of the book! The kids were so excited and loved the ending! (No spoilers, but they really enjoyed it) I enjoyed your review on the gather round version, I was curious on how in depth it was.
I’ve had US Constitution unit ever since it came out. I can’t wait to do it with my child. I’m just waiting for him to get older. I’ve come to learn after using several GR units, the teachers guide are good to use for reference, but not for actually teaching a subject.
Thank you so much for this review. It is really helpful. Do you think this GATB constitution and government study would be good to do as a co-op? We have an only child and love doing some studies with other homeschool families to do group learning as well as socializing. Any thoughts would be helpful. 😊

I just love how honest you are. You don’t portray to have it all together or to like everything.
❤️

That seems to be the consensus!

Yes! The audio version is such a nice element!!
So important for our children to have knowledge of the way our government was formed and the beliefs of the men who wrote it

This sounds so cool!
Can you tell me more about how you did it at a coop? Could it work once a week for 24weeks?

It is really well done!
We aren't even that far. I think if we take our time, we will absorb more information. We love TGTB US Constitution.
Good point! 🤍
I would love more videos about gather round. We love them. What units would you recommend for early readers and lower elementary?
Have you done North American birds?
Great review video - thanks so much!
Thanks for watching!
Love doodle journaling! Great feedback to know that the Constitution unit can be used for older students.
Thanks Jen!

I can't decide between History Quest and TGTB. Had anyone tried both and can share their experience?
I don’t know much about History Quest-sorry!
We started the year off with History Quest and quickly switched to TGATB!! Was not a fan of History Quest.
@@MeadowsFamilyHappenings Thank you so much! What did you dislike the most? I'm mostly drawn to the activities/projects.
I use a different history but I need something for social studies. Can TGTB constitution and gov. course be used for ss?
Yes!
