IMO One of the best shows on TV, I simply can't understand why more people don't watch the show. Pure talent, pure music, wonderful people. It should pull in more people than AI, AGT and the others.
Because, unfortunately, people don't want talent or substance in their entertainment anymore, because that requires thinking. People would rather watch garbage like American Idol where they can get a laugh at some terrible talentless morons looking for 15 minutes of fame and then gawk at mass pandering shite like Kelly Clarkson, and it's really sad, but that's what we get for letting teens and kids decide what's entertaining and "good".

tygerteam I don't think they've turned to Patreon to get any "play from the masses" - their tours regularly sell out and they have a huge fan base. I think they use Patreon to do what they want when they want. A lot of their cover videos are classic, great arrangements, high production value - - and something most labels wouldn't touch with a 50 foot pole. They do it to give their fans what they want. They still do regular albums - 2 so far - and their second Christmas album comes out in November 2016. (Check out their new video - "How Great Thou Art" recorded in the Tyrolian Alps in Western Austria. Simply stunning both musically and visually).
They havent turned to Patreon, per-say, but they definately need it. If they had a massive record label behind them, they would do those videos (maybe even better quality?), and grow quicker. What upsets me more than the fact that they dont have the record label to produce more music, is that they dont grow as quickly at all. With Sony, they earned 180,000 subscribers. Once they changed record labels, they gained only 70,000, and now the subs just come in at a snails pace. While subscribers on youtube isnt the best measure (as record sales are), people dont buy records or albums when they can just find it online for free somehow. They should have multiple millions of subscribers like PTX has (which anyways, HF is better than PTX by a long shot).

I had years in my eyes, a tingle up my spine and fresh determination in my heart ALL AT THE SAME TIME!! Absolutely breathtaking performance! Wow!

I feel like what hurt this show is that they only gave it two weeks, and around Christmas time. Wish this season had a medley round, although the ultimate sing-off part was fun.
Trouble is they put it on at Christmas time. We had a billion functions to go to. Sitting in front of the TV during that time was hard. I made sure to check out the episodes we missed on TH-cam though.

What a star Austin is in this one - tall, good-looking, voice of an archangel, and all that swag! I will never stop wondering what happened, why flogging round the country with 4 other people was worth more to him than the opportunity which he had wanted so much before joining HF. A waste of talent. Still, since he seems happy, we can only hope he does something with the talent soon.
Agree. Unfortunately every show I find that I enjoy, gets cancelled. The latest casualty, the hysterically funny Surviving Jack. I do not understand how The Voice, with unrelenting inane comments directed at mostly uninteresting singers, is a smash hit, while this show, where even very young musicians create great music, where the judges (Ben Folds!) respond incisively and intelligently struggles to take hold. Sad really.
I love love love this show; but I feel like the top three groups from last season could have blown away this year's groups (maybe with the exception of vocal rush b/c omg those kids were ridiculously good). And Home Free, while I loved them, can easily be marketed as an accompanied country boy band, which is what they will likely be. This is my favorite show so I hope it comes back, but we need more Pentatonix-like quality.

Home Free is cleaner than PTX, in every aspect. More precise, more dictative, more balanced, arrangements are more complex, etc. The only thing PTX has on Home Free is that Scott is probably one of the best singers that have lived. Other than that, Tim "beats" Avi, Austin "beats" Mitch, Adam "beats" Kevin.
