Not a good choice for me, but I still respect what they are doing. - Keep up the GREAT WORK there Rockwood! You are THE BEST Uncle Josh! Show us as many Rockwoods as you can! I really appreciate that company.
I recently bought this one (also a 2024). Great floor plan. I was able to fit 4 battleborn batteries, auto transfer switch and a huge dc breaker in the compartment that was blocked off for the water pump. We are about to spend 7 months in it. The vast amount of closet and pantry space will be very welcome.
You really cannot go wrong with a Rockwood. We're enamored with Ember and Brinkley.....if you are too, add Rockwood to that list. 6 seasons in a Roo and 7 seasons in a Mini Lite with absolutely no regrets or major problems. They glue down their roof membranes, ratchet slides, composites in the walls and a terrific suspension. Also.... Walter Bishop's cow!!!
Just went to look at a 2023 at the local dealership, the four things I saw that changed for 2024 were the single bowl kitchen sink, the tables on the loveseat, the slam latches on the exterior storage. and the 2-way opening refer with a glass front. I like them all. Sorry anyone would to have to install struts on the overhead kitchen cabinets but to keep cost down it was probably necessary to delete as standard equipment. Overall I really like the layout with the two private living areas, allows one spouse to read or sleep, while the other watches TV or works. You didn't mention the azdel in the walls, but you did well on the suspension. Good job Rockwood! Thanks for the reviews Josh, you're killing it! So glad that Bish's keep your program going.
My 2023 overhead kitchen cabinets open to the side (and stay open ☺️ ) but I would love to have that single bowl sink. We took out the table that it came with & leave it at home and use tv trays if we eat inside. This really is a great model.
As a happy Rockwood owner I can say that the vast majority of their overall quality standard features and build quality is beyond superb👍but that tiny elbow banging shower that as a 5’9” 180lb person I have had to live with for more than 3 years really does suck😂
Just looked at this last week. That theater seating is SMALL they could still do the tables and have a wider seating situation. I know the Salems aren't on the same build level, but I was more impressed with the 169fxs for lounge area and bedroom storage. However, this one's kitchen is great.
Actually went back to the RV store and looked at this again and found one with the older version of theater seats. It totally changed my opinion of the model. For the better! 99% sure I'll purchase in the next few weeks.
You just can't go wrong with a Rockstaff! We have the 2509s built in 2022, and I love the quality! Sure, just like any camper out there, you are going to have to fix things but a lot less with a Rockstaff. Thanks to you, Josh, for your honesty and for helping us with our discussion to purchase a Rockstaff !!
Glad to see they've finally adopted the use of slam latches! Here's a thought regarding the window shades in the doors, and not just Rockwood, but all brands. And, yes, I know there's going to be costs associated with this idea. What if they made the upper portion of the screen, on the screen door, attach with magnetic strips, like the screen wall on some toy haulers? Then you could adjust the window shades without having to go in and out of the camper.
They used to have a system where you could adjust the shade from the inside years ago. It work fantastically yet was almost universally disliked. Never made sense to me
Maybe the Big Fleetwood Mac burger might become the favorite Breakfast in America item? Anyways…. Fickle as I am about being tickled by the new models coming out this one is cool 😎 Great length and weight, love the slide outs in living room and the bedroom, the bedroom separation through the parlor of poopie really makes the bedroom feel like it’s a completely distinct room of it’s own. Great kitchen space and refrigerator, personally a Microwave/Air Fryer would suit me better. But how about the solar panels, are they going to offer more than 200w? (or maybe I missed hearing that) Cheers Mate
200 W solar is the base standard. You can add a second panel from the factory, pretty easily or aftermarket. If I’m not mistaken, they do also offer their big power package on this one as well
The first thing I'd probably do to this is take out that extra shelf next to the bed on the back wall of the camper. With that slide so deep that's one more thing to crawl over to get in bed. Always like front kitchens.
I have a 23 Flagstaff Micro Lite 25FKS that is the non bed slide version of this camper. There are a few differences, but generally similar specs. I measured the tongue weight at a about 1000 lbs after adding a second battery and loading the trailer for a trip. That is the reason I chose a 3/4 ton vehicle to tow it. Being limited to under 400 lbs for passengers and cargo in the truck was a pain. I ran a full season with a 1/2 ton and it was not a good feel overall, even with a weight distribution hitch. The 3/4 ton is just so much better at hauling a trailer when your actual tongue weight is closing on 1k lbs. That front kitchen is amazing though, I love ours.
@@JoshtheRVNerd Forest River optimistically says 814lb hitch weight, but most of your storage is in the front with the kitchen. The battery weight is right on the tongue so that is a factor as well. Adding a full load of water can help to an extent, as will loading over or behind the axle. The 450lbs of water only lightened the tongue weight by about 20lbs. The bed slide and the 20lb propane tanks instead of the 30lb is probably the reason the tongue weight on the 2516s is 36lbs lighter than my 25fks.
@@AGB_2000 814lbs may be 100% dead empty bone dry as a base model off the production line but as you indicated by the time it's loaded that should not be expected as a real world hitch weight
I like this one because it contains pretty much everything I would need in a size that is National Park friendly. One thing I would like to know, however, is the interior height. I am very tall and I'm wondering what kind of headache I might expect in there...
I really like this one Josh, for the size of this one wow a lot of features, love the kitchen and especially the aluminum under bed, great job covering this rv Josh, thanks
Love love the kitchen awesome counter top space & living room layout is great with the fireplace. Bonus having two entry doors. Bedroom entrance to bathroom is private like a master bedroom thats good butttt no likey having to exit the bedroom pass the bathroom if it's not occupied to enter the living room. Or if bathroom is occupied I would have to exit the trailer to then use the other entry door to enter the kitchen. Thats a deal breaker.
Thank you Mr. Nerd. My magic wand alteration would lose the double vanity (or thin it down) and 6 inches or so on the bathroom counter and the pantry/coat closet and put in a non radius shower. It would be nice if the swing away tables would fold down alongside the theatre seating instead of swinging out to interfere with the fridge.
I like this a LOT! Only problem I have with it is a childhood issue I have with mirrors at night. I know the mirrors in the bedroom are necessary but I would be freaked out all night 😮😅 But seriously, layout, floor plan, all just peachy! 👍
I love, love, love this floorplan! I just bought my first (pre-owned 2022 Coachmen Apex Ultralight) , so I'm not ready to upgrade, but this is the kind of floorplan that turns my head!
@@JoshtheRVNerd You said in the video that there was a longer version, if I recall correctly. Did you happen to do a video on that (yet)? I'd love to look at that as an option when my rig grows up. 😁
This would be perfect for the stage of life that hubby and I are in! ❤️ We've been looking for something with an actual bedroom and recliners with a front or rear kitchen in a camper not a 5th wheel. We could tow a 5th wheel, but I prefer the campers because they're one level and I have a bad knee. (4 wheeler accident a year ago and I had surgery but it's still so painful) Anyway, thanks for showing this one!! Hopefully I can get hubby and go look at this one soon!! ❤️
Absolutely LOVE this floor plan and the Road Mode is do-able, as long as I sleep diagonally on the bed. Hitch weight would be close to max for my '22 Tremor though. Would have to get creative when loading up. Thanks Josh!
We also replaced the couch with 2 euro chairs, put in a victron system. The table mounts can be cut down and need to because they too high (unless you’re slurping soup).
Love it. The big kitchen. Love all that strog. For a small rv it has a decent badroom. Nice towing size. The one this I would cage is the struts on the top doors. Thanks josh!!!!
Hey Josh we were at the Suburban Showplace camper show and we noticed that the Flagstaff models have the hinged struts that hold up the above storage cabinet doors . Have also seen a few TH-cam videos of Flagstaff models where the reviewer opened up the above storage cabinet and stayed up without his hand holding the cabinet handle. These were 2024 models. It's definitely puzzling why Rockwood does not have these hinges and Flagstaff does since they're made at the same Factory🤔
Those were either older ‘23 models the dealer was trying to offload marked as 24’s (which is a gross practice that happens) or early early 24’s that weren’t yet updated and built to 23 specs still The Rockwood and flagstaff models are the same. Same equipment. One doesn’t get something the other doesn’t.
Really nice floor plan, the only thing I would change is add the struts back to the cabinets, as far as the shade in the bedroom door I would leave a little space to peek outside
Great kitchen for this size camper, think I'd struggle to use the microwave as it seems so high. I agree about the struts for the high cabinets. The living space is basic but comfy, and there's pretty good storage. Do you think there's room for a combi washer/dryer in that closet by the door? I think it may even be better to have a better bathroom than that closet. I like the nice big medicine cabinet. The bedroom has room to get dressed - bonus! I'm curious about why travel trailers have 2 outside doors, but the great big 5th wheels have 1, it would give you so much more flexibility if the door in the bedroom wasn't there, you'd get a pretty good cupboard in that space. I definitely like the little tables on the theatre seating. #nerdherd #rvnerdherd #thanksnerd I really enjoy watching these videos, thanks Josh
We just bought a 2515- exactly great same length. Much better layout with nightstands and closets, way bigger shower and a dinette. So much more than this floor plan
I looked at these and really like the floorplan, but couldn't find a place for a workspace. I think that's the only weakness of the design, and almost regret the need.
is there a necessity for the second entry door? because that coat closet size shower kills an otherwise really good layout and eliminating the second door would make enough space to get a decent shower in there
Why would they remove the struts on the overhead doors? No body I know has 3 hands to operate, hold and then remove something. Good job with the under bed storage, love the drawers..The theater seat needs to be wider, there is plenty of room, use it. I like the theater seat and the lagune tables. Nice job on the pantry/closet and the bath. 30lb propane tanks are the way to go.
One of the things you didn't cover is the tank drain location s and whether 1 or 2 drains. Otherwise a great floorplan. I wish more manufacturers would have rear bedrooms.
I wish more builders used this version of the theater seating. I like this plan a great deal. #NerdHerd. This is perfect seating Josh. Thanks for the shout out! I get enough upvotes on my criticism of hard theater seating to know there is a significant minority of people who don't like a non-removable divider.
I'm looking to move from a 2014 Lance to a bigger unit and this fits the build. It's hard to find anything to equal the quality of Lance but this comes close with the same torsion flex axles. I did see a mini-lite proto-type with a seamless laminated fiberglass one-piece roof. If they put that into production that would definitely tip me into buying a Rockwood.
I'm not a huge fan of front kitchen's but I have to say Rockwood did a great job with this one. Outside storage is not great but I'd say it's adequate. I still wish the industry would at least give the option of outside folding steps. Can't stand those stable steps!
I didn't even ask about tires or tire ratings! Can you sleep in the bed with the slide closed? If not, you cannot sleep there if you stop overnight at a Walmart or Cracker Barrel.
@@theramseyhouse I'm guessing I left the reply on the wrong comment 🤦🏻♂ LOL Now I'm wondering who else DIDN'T get an answer! MFG doesn't test for using any of the slides when closed as it turns out. Currently in the towable world I've only ever seen Brinkley allow for that on bed slides
@@JoshtheRVNerd Yeah, that's what I figured. In this case, it makes this RV "look" a lot better for people who travel with RVs than it really is. Otherwise, this would have been a great floorplan for us. For those of us who are weekend warriors or who like (or need) to travel around the U.S. - that's a large percentage or your customers I would think - the towables in this 26-30ft class are great size for that class of owner. You'd think an RV company which could develop and test slides that is travel stop/Waldock friendly in this size range that it would be a great competitive advantage. But I'm not a manufacturer... it just seems to make sense to me.
Love ya Josh, BUT "woven marine fabric" on the slide floor is still CARPET!! Simple understanding that your old gold shag carpet from your youth is carpet and almost anything you put on the floor to cover finished surface is CARPET!
Love love love. Just wish they didn’t waste precious real estate on the second door. I think the shimmy space would be ample for anyone ordering this model.
Vast majority of RVs do not have W/D units or hookups for them. In this size W/D hookups pretty much don't exist due to a lack of space for them They're most common in larger fifth wheels but some larger trailers have hookups for them as well
I refused to do the gymnastics necessary to deploy the privacy screen in the entry door. I removed the factory valance and used the materials to make a rectangular box valance behind which I mounted a Levelor roller shade.
Looks like it trades a little roominess for coziness. My one concern is how that bed has to fit under the edge of the wardrobe. What happens if it doesn't quite make it? Could it break your slide?
Josh! I have a 2021 MiniLite with theater seats. Those lagoon tables are just what we need. Can I buy those seperately?? we have the big dumb table that is a PITA.
Quite possibly. Our parts team may be able to assist. They usually need to request the parts off a specific VIN from Rockwood so we may be able to reference an on-hand unit
Hey Josh, It seems like many of the manufacturers are adding a windshield on travel trailers. We are researching a new travel trailer and that windshield seems to be on just about everyone we like. My concern is if it breaks a couple years from now, how will I get it replaced. Has your company seen any issues with them cracking or replacements?

TY for the input. I've noticed a few weird table heights recently
Put The Headboard on Interior wall with slide at foot of bed and a Sleeper sofa and that will Be a Perfect lil Camper!!
Cool idea!
I like the heated storage in the kitchen.🤔🤔🤔
Really LOVE the Mini Lite/Micro Lite lines, but my preference is the 2513S. Looking forward to a video on the 2024 version of that one?
It's been a spell since i got my hands on one of those. Last time I got footage of one was back here th-cam.com/video/dtFpZk0nWug/w-d-xo.html
I wish Keystone Cougar 22RBS would put struts in the cabinets over the bed as well. Awkward getting things out while balancing on the mattress.
Agreed!
Awsome for people working on the road
Yeah I could see that
Agreed completely with the first comment the oven and bathroom placement!
TY!
Love your walk arounds.
Thank you! :)
Love it. The big kitchen. Love all that strog. For a small rv it has a decent badroom. Nice towing size. The one this I would cage is the struts on the top doors. Thanks josh!!!!
That would be nice
Hey Josh we were at the Suburban Showplace camper show and we noticed that the Flagstaff models have the hinged struts that hold up the above storage cabinet doors . Have also seen a few TH-cam videos of Flagstaff models where the reviewer opened up the above storage cabinet and stayed up without his hand holding the cabinet handle. These were 2024 models. It's definitely puzzling why Rockwood does not have these hinges and Flagstaff does since they're made at the same Factory🤔
Those were either older ‘23 models the dealer was trying to offload marked as 24’s (which is a gross practice that happens) or early early 24’s that weren’t yet updated and built to 23 specs still
The Rockwood and flagstaff models are the same. Same equipment. One doesn’t get something the other doesn’t.
Really nice floor plan, the only thing I would change is add the struts back to the cabinets, as far as the shade in the bedroom door I would leave a little space to peek outside
That would be a nice thing to see return to these
Nice model
Thank you! Cheers!
Just looked at this again this weekend. We might order one in a couple months !
Nice pick
Really like this one!
What stands out to you on it?
@@JoshtheRVNerd I love the road mode and the extra prep space in the kitchen. Is this at Anderson? That's close to us.
Thanks.
#nerdherd #rvnerdherd #thanksnerd
I really enjoy watching these videos, thanks Josh
Ty again Tanya!
Thanks Nerd! ❤
I love it but I do think the hitch weight would take this one off the table. Thank you for the videos! I have never been camping but want to. 😊
Thanks for watching!
Nice TT, better than previous version. Nice video Josh. Ads are back, boycott products in Ads.
Yeah I can’t totally remove those buddy. Not since Jan 1st of 2019
We just bought a 2515- exactly great same length. Much better layout with nightstands and closets, way bigger shower and a dinette. So much more than this floor plan
Yeah they have a handful of models that all come in JUST under 26ft
I looked at these and really like the floorplan, but couldn't find a place for a workspace. I think that's the only weakness of the design, and almost regret the need.
is there a necessity for the second entry door?
because that coat closet size shower kills an otherwise really good layout and eliminating the second door would make enough space to get a decent shower in there
I don’t know that it’s fire code or anything. Doesn’t feel necessary to me
Rockstaff fan from the start. Hopefully more 2024 models coming to the channel soon? Please 😀
I have a bunch out already for 2024 and more to come!
Good video Josh
Glad you enjoyed it
Looking except for no struts for the cabinet doors over the sink. 30lb tanks for propane is always a plus.
Yeah I a. Surprised they removed the struts
Agree on the struts. It really surprised me
Youre the man JOSH
♥
Just bought one love it
Nice pick!
FRONT kitchen, REAR bedroom with a shower separate from the toilet.. Oh man I'm in love! Note: "Thanks NERRRRd sumpim like that"
Perfect lol :)
Nicely done Rockwood
Thank you kindly
One of the things you didn't cover is the tank drain location s and whether 1 or 2 drains. Otherwise a great floorplan. I wish more manufacturers would have rear bedrooms.
Two outlets. I’ve covered that in previous videos. I try to hit different things on different models
Josh was there a folding table tucked away on the right side of the theater seat or is it time for the optometrist again 😂
@@frankt6794 I could see that being handy. TY
Just picked up a flagstaff version of this today. Our cabinets stay open without struts
Yeah they did some updating to re-apply some smart features like that now that were briefly left out
I wish more builders used this version of the theater seating. I like this plan a great deal.
#NerdHerd. This is perfect seating Josh. Thanks for the shout out! I get enough upvotes on my criticism of hard theater seating to know there is a significant minority of people who don't like a non-removable divider.
👍🏻
It’s funny how things come and go like that. There is a growing segment of people out there asking for the same
But if the bed is in a slide, can you sleep in it during a Wal/Crackerdock stop?
Not sure on the speed rating for those tires but our local folks at www.bishs.com/contact-us can verify for sure
@@JoshtheRVNerd huh?
I didn't even ask about tires or tire ratings!
Can you sleep in the bed with the slide closed? If not, you cannot sleep there if you stop overnight at a Walmart or Cracker Barrel.
@@theramseyhouse I'm guessing I left the reply on the wrong comment 🤦🏻♂ LOL
Now I'm wondering who else DIDN'T get an answer!
Needs a big camp side window and sleeper sofa for grand kiddos.
How would you suggest accomplishing a big camp side window on this rv
It's a little bit bigger and better outfitted / fortified than the Salem 169 rsk but along the same lines
Uh...your right Josh. DO NOT look up that Prince song!!!!!!! 😂
Hahha
Love ya Josh, BUT "woven marine fabric" on the slide floor is still CARPET!! Simple understanding that your old gold shag carpet from your youth is carpet and almost anything you put on the floor to cover finished surface is CARPET!
Sarasota Tim !
I have not watched the video yet, but I know it will be a good one. 😊
lol Ty Greg
The bedroom door is the emergency bathroom hatch!😂
Perfect length and layout, though.
I think so too!
I love this camper wow too bad I bought a Zinger ZR211RD last year 😞
I dig it! Nicely done Rockstaff/FlagWood. Lol.
lol 😃
Wish Rockwood had windows that actually allow a breeze to blow through
I'm almost surprised they've stuck with frameless for so long
Love love love. Just wish they didn’t waste precious real estate on the second door. I think the shimmy space would be ample for anyone ordering this model.
Considering it’s a walk thru I think that makes sense
Great floorplan keep it going. Like to see more models that have a gvw around 8k
Thanks! Will do!
I can't imagine a trailer/RV without a washer dryer.
Vast majority of RVs do not have W/D units or hookups for them. In this size W/D hookups pretty much don't exist due to a lack of space for them
They're most common in larger fifth wheels but some larger trailers have hookups for them as well
I refused to do the gymnastics necessary to deploy the privacy screen in the entry door. I removed the factory valance and used the materials to make a rectangular box valance behind which I mounted a Levelor roller shade.
We have the one 2 feet shorter, we love it. and have had No Problems. its a 2021
Nice! TY for sharing :)
Looks like it trades a little roominess for coziness. My one concern is how that bed has to fit under the edge of the wardrobe. What happens if it doesn't quite make it? Could it break your slide?
Factory bed fits fine. You’ll want to be careful of aftermarket bedding to ensure a proper fit
What is the purpose of the second door? Looks like the rear window is also an emergency exit.
I don’t really know. I actually think this floorplan could be a little bit better without it. But I suspect it’s for bed and Bath access in transit.
John Cougar Gonna Camp 😄
Second spare tire 🛞 👍
Would probably be better if they had installed that other new style of hand rail.
I love that name lol
Nope it isn’t a CPAP friendly bed and the radius shower is a no go.
Why are all these campers using more formaldehyde in these units.
Thanks nerd 😁
No problem
Hey Josh, would you try to get your hands on a 2513 and 2515 model Rockwood and do some reviews on those please
I had the first vid ever on the 2515 here m.th-cam.com/video/-n8XOwbAqC0/w-d-xo.html
My 2513 is out of date but I have some footage here m.th-cam.com/video/dtFpZk0nWug/w-d-xo.html
They can break. It’s not common but not impossible. Our stores can get a replacement for you
Really like it. Where do 😂store the camp outside rug?
Under the bed or truck bed most likely
@JoshtheRVNerd would likely fit in the truck but not sure about the bed, but would give it a try.
Or in the vertical space behind the fridge?
