More great sets from Imprint! That Hackman set it really calling to me, I'll have to pick it up at some point. They just announced a Stephen King set last night that I will probably have to have as well! Thanks, Heath!
I've been meaning to watch all the Carry On films for ages. Their quality is variable but they demonstrate a love of the double entendre in British comedy better than anything else. Plus they helped keep the British film industry alive at a time when it started to struggle. See also the Confessions series. The 1971 UK box office top 10 is quite a thing to see now for example.
Heath, I find if you twist around those rear cards on the boxes, just turn them on the glue's axis and it will come off, the glue glob will be stuck to either the card or the box, but if you roll the glue back and forth it will come off without tearing anything... I got all three box sets recently and have been working my way through them. Great to see Imprint sourcing better quality scans finally!
Another awesome video! You really capture the excitement for these AMAZING sets! Imprint is just killing it! Love their releases. We are SO fortunate that we can add these Australian releases to our collections, here in the US. My only disappointment was all three of these great sets came out at the same time:) My wallet it aching! :). Bravo Imprint! Keep it up!
This is incredible. What a great time to be a collector of physical media. A lot of these films I grew up with as well mainly through watching with my dad. I just feel like we need endless money to support all of this. Lol
A lot of people use Letterboxd like a social media site, i.e. a place to leave short, pithy comments about something. But really, it's a blank slate when it comes to allowing everyone to share their thoughts on that particular movie. It's a shame to see so many people that watch movies have so little to say about them.
My Imprint boxes arrived during the week and they are indeed things of beauty. Can't wait to dive into them. In terms of physical media available in stores here in Australia, it really is only JB HI-FI keeping that alive. Not sure if that will continue forever but from what I can see they always plenty of people browsing the physical media shelves and they always have a lot of great sales. They had a 20 per cent sale just as these 3 imprint box sets came out so that was great timing for me! I don't think I've seen Four Rooms. Doesn't ring a bell. I'll have to check it out. I missed that Via Vision had stated releasing the Carry On films so I'll definitely need to get those soon. I wish they could clean up and release a HD Goodies set but I'm guessing the source material available is limited given the DVDs PQ. Don't get me wrong they are more than watchable and if reasonable quality given how they were filed and stored. But like Dr Who of the era I think the source is only available on low quality video.
Definitely amazing sets, I managed to grab a couple on sale at JB-Hifi here in Perth, Western Australia. Slow going though as I definitely love special features and have to listen to every commentary before moving onto the next flick. On the Disney decision, every purchase I make in retail (even buying some bluray storage at a Zing store) the staff always express sadness at the end of Disney on physical media here.
You're right regarding the free DVD giveaways in U.K. newspapers. That was in the early 2000's or so. I bought one at the time, but off hand I can't remember what it was. Most of the Daily's started doing them, and they covered most film genres.
My Impint package of the 3 sets cleared Canadian customs Wednesday night. Fingers crossed they get here today. Either way I ordered Essential Film Noir Vol. 2 from Amazon and it's out for delivery right now! More like Hardbox August amirite? I'll be here all day folks. Thanks for the coverage and the passion.
Your mileage will vary. Movies are subjective, but I wouldn’t recommend spending hundreds on a blind buy. All of these movies are worth seeing. Some are better than others.
Carry On is legendary for British people. But the really popular ones, that people love, Imprint haven't got to yet. Carry on Doctor, Camping, Henry are the era that made their reputation. The early ones are a bit safe and bland. Only in the late 60s early 70s did it get saucier and become much funnier. Wait for those and you may appreciate more why we love them in the UK.
Greetings from the UK! Love your channel Heath and I love Imprint but what with all the other labels I just can't afford many of these 😢 Your finances are none of my business but I was watching one of your old videos from 5 years ago giving us 5 recommendations for collecting. I picked up many good bargaining tips from that but you seem to pick up every single Imprint release which kind of goes against your 5 tips. Tell me if I'm right, if I'm wrong, no offence intended.
Anything with Richard Pryor catches my attention. I'm not as optimistic about the future of physical media. I believe Disney will continue to do "bad" decisions, and others may easily follow. Tax write offs and paying less riseduals seems to be the bottom line.
Not that I have a dog in this fight, but how could any director or actor box set ever be complete? Do you just avoid box sets entirely because they aren’t 75 discs spanning 50 years?

Those sets look amazing! I love their attention to the packaging. The Walter Hill set is a must-have!
That was a cast-member-level Lorne impression. 10/10 fricheks
Picked up both Directed By Boxsets last week from JB Hi-Fi. They had 20% off too and a 50$ coupon if you spent over 300. It was destiny.

You have EARNED MY TRUST. Love your videos and your insight / commentary!
Thanks Heath! A great episode covering the Imprint boxes! Outstanding!

I haven’t seen too many of theses films. I look forward to checking them out.
Heath, thank you for doing the giveaways. I'll be sure to enter on all socials! Man, those Hackman and Hill sets look sweet!
Love me some Walter Hill. I shared “The Driver” (my DVD) with my dad a few weeks ago while he was recuperating from a surgery.
"Hard Times" is my favorite Charles Bronson film & Walter Hill film. What a set. Mind is blown!
Thanks, Heath! As always, I really appreciate the hard work! Keep it up! God bless and stay safe!
That Walter Hill set is pretty sweet

These look like fantastic sets ...probably cost a lot to import ..but worth it..
Heath I sure agree with you about reviews....on Letteboxd I see mostly snarky one-liners....a really thoughtful review is the way to go!

GREAT shipment, psyched to get mine. Michael J. Pollard all day long. (Loving the new sub-Heath title card lines at the start, btw!)
Thanks for noticing those title cards I've been putting in!
I'm really looking forward to the Film Focus on Jessica Lange coming at the end of the month. Keep up the great work, Imprint!
Just this morning I walked into jb hi fi here in NZ and picked up imprints The Eagle has Landed of the shelf. Long live physical media .
I've doing a deep dive into John Ford / John Wayne. It's been a lot of fun. Many of the movies I've never seen.
Heath has never let me down, I’ve gotten several recommendations from him, I’ve never been lead astray!
Got a few of the via vision/imprint releases. I’m kicking myself for not knowing about them when they released the Hammer House of Horror set.
Gene Hackman , I’m sold . Winner winner chicken dinner.
Where for I enter the contest?
Only 1500 after all that effort seems like absolute madness!

Hardbox August sounds like a hard-boiled detective series!
@@CerealAtMidnight It sure does pal! And everything just came up Milhouse!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
What can you tell us about the movies though? I had the Walter Hill preordered but decided it was too costly for a blind buy
Your mileage will vary. Movies are subjective, but I wouldn’t recommend spending hundreds on a blind buy. All of these movies are worth seeing. Some are better than others.
@@CerealAtMidnight thanks for the reassurance Heath!
Thank you Heath
I was wondering if you ever finished reading that Expendable book lot that you picked up on the BAY? 😎
Sorry I mean Executioner 😎
Naw, that will take me years to get through!
Lol…Yea that was a big lot you picked up lol
Lol…Yea that was a big lot you picked up lol
Damn I really want that Walter Hill set lol
I want walter hill box set I am big big fan of you
Too bad. Imprint Box Sets are ridiculously expensive.

Imprint sends me these releases to review and talk about.
That makes perfect sense. I love your interviews.
Did somebody say Roy Scheider? Haha
There he is!
The way you slam those box sets on the table and mishandle those discs as coasters is discouraging.
Anything with Richard Pryor catches my attention. I'm not as optimistic about the future of physical media. I believe Disney will continue to do "bad" decisions, and others may easily follow. Tax write offs and paying less riseduals seems to be the bottom line.
I love IMPRINT. But I can't get behind these box sets because the choice of films in these box sets is terrible.
Sorry, total pass. I do not buy boxes of random, incomplete sets of films from any director or actor.
Not that I have a dog in this fight, but how could any director or actor box set ever be complete? Do you just avoid box sets entirely because they aren’t 75 discs spanning 50 years?
I don't DO social media, so that get's an immediate click away.
