Teacher i learning good pronunciation by our videos thank you.
Hi Catharine.Great job thanks a lot for helping me with such pronunciation difficulty.
Hi teacher!
Tottenham Court Road is a London Underground station of a neighborhood in London?
There is a famous football team called Tottenham that many football fans in the world pronounce wrong.
Orthographically we see 3 syllables, but as orthography and phonetic in English do not match, Londoners only pronounce the first and last syllable and many do not even pronounce the second T, with the called glottal stop.
Tottenham Tot-ten-ham /ˌtɒtnəm / or /ˌtɒ?nəm /.
It also has a beautiful schwa sound.
Dankeschön, thank you!
You seem really to love London. Your eyes are so bright when you pronounce the places. I was with my three children in London five years ago. I had not much understood. Because we made a bus tour, I think I have seen some of the places. We were not long. The underground was fantastic also the big wheel, the London Eye, Madame Tussauds, and London Dungeon. Harrods was also a goal of my children.
I wish you much success with your channel and want sometimes look at it, even though I will never go abroad again.

Thanks for the video. I would appreciate that if you could make a video to learn us how to pronounce the names of London different Stations.
Leicester city = lesta city which stunned us by winning premier league
:P p.s. the spelling for the chapter of "Borough Market" is incorrectly spelled as "bara market"
It’s the phonetic spelling 😊😊
...and Islington most people pronounce something like eyelington but the right pronunciation is eeslington (sorry, I don't know the correct international phonetic alphabet).
Take care, dear.
Iz-ling-tuhn 😊
Thanks Kate
Wonderful Katharine!
And very useful as one of my pet peeves and difficulties, as for many I suppose, is to pronounce correctly those British locations (towns, places ...) whose pronunciation so defies logic and reason when one refers to their misleading spelling! English spelling can be so tricky at times ;-)
I knew for Leicester (lesta) as I had learnt it some time ago with my beloved Sabe here th-cam.com/video/rwwEKGvFcZs/w-d-xo.html. Those I also knew about were: Fulham, Clapham, Borough (I wrote a poem on the tricky tetragraph 'ough')
I would have failed miserably on: Marylebone (/ˈmɑːləbəʊn/) ; I was saying 'θeims' instead of /tɛmz/! ; I was surprised by the pronunciaton of 'sunt' instead of /seɪnt/ which is probably more American as the British would say /sən(t)/ or /sɨn(t)/ most probably ;
Walthamstow (/ˈwɔːlθəmstoʊ/) I was not too bad I think for that one as I would have said /ˈwɒlθəmstoʊ/ probably.
The one that surprised me the most was 'Greenwich' (/ˈɡɹɛnɪt͡ʃ/) that I used to pronounce /ɡɹiːnwɪtʃ/, like a green witch, shame on me! 😂 and I was also discombobulated by 'Southwark'! How on earth could we know it is pronounced 'suth - uk'?! ...
Merci beaucoup Katherine, you are very charming!
😘❤🌹
Better you should talk about Wolwich,Lewisham, Dulwich Croydon etc.what do u think.
Not better, just part 2 of the video perhaps!
小姐姐好漂亮

Katharine, please use the International Phonetic Alphabet alongside the respelling.
No, I won’t be doing that. This is more about ears than eyes. Many thanks 🙏

❤😊😊
Please make a video about your living please, inside your home and out side of your home. Love from Bangladesh.
Well, that pronunciation seems quite posh, but not relative to Indian accent.
London is a dream place to be for every person born in India.
I wish I could settle there, but it's very costly.
Posh? No 😳 just modern Received Pronunciation! 😊
@@englishwithkatharine These all words(places) have been quite frequently used in Indian English textbook poems and stories when I was in my school. As Indian schools prefer the British system over American. Now, I realise that I was taught the wrong pronunciation of every word by my teachers listening to you and I'm sure most of the Indians pronounce these words incorrectly.
Help us learning idiomatic sentences and phrasal verbs in daily usage.
🌹🌹🌹🌹
🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
Mam you are so gorgeous 😍 !
Was this your first video ?
Southwark and Southern which pronounce suth-uk and Suth-un! Pancras (sunt pan-crus!) Amazing! mar la bone ! ful-um, westum and eastum, River Tems! clapum ! gren-ich ! wall-thum-sto! borough bura not bra! Mahkit market! amazing ! Do you have your own standard pronunciation symbols?
You know - that’s not a bad idea !!!!!
@@englishwithkatharine Please go ahead and make standard symbols and you will make the British accent the easiest to learn! I will be interested and I am keen to take a training in the British accent at your school! my colleagues always say that I come up with ideas but I never do an action!
Is there any relation between Marylebone and Simon Lebon of Duran Duran? 😁
Hi teacher
How are you?
Why don't have British account?
Ok sorry and thanks🙏
