When I first became Army, I felt the same way. Like, what is this sorcery. They are magical. But I must agree after watching run bts and bon voyage, they are like us.

They're literal humans.
Early 2018, when BTS was getting popular in the US & UK, 'some' local Korean artists & media accused the band for trying hard to be "Westernized". Hence, the song "IDOL" was an answer. They put some traditional sounds/elements in their song to show that they can produce music without forgetting their roots. Also their choreography, attires & performances incorporated not only Korean culture but also Indian, African etc steps to show that they respect diversity.
I love that their response was to vomit Korean culture while saying “I love myself.”

During award shows, foreigners go to korea, sometimes Japan, just to attend or watch this award shows.. it's like a big concert with different big groups from different big competing companies show off. But BigHit flexes the most and slays.
Also, global BTS army's follow them when BTS went to the US & UK!
Usually, the crowd is somewhat muted for live performances, so you can't actually hear how loud ARMY really is. Now, imagine going from this, to a stage with no audience. From literally thousands of screaming fans to utter silence while they perform. Covid really hurt the boys and ARMY, too. We are all really looking forward to the day when they're able to perform in front of a live audience again.

So true, and such a sad 'loss' especially since the career span of an "idol" (with all the strenuous singing and dancing) is pretty short-lived to begin with. It's still great to see them perform "online" but I miss the live energy of fans collectively losing their minds, haha. It's really powerful and awesome, something that can't be replicated. But as a silver lining, let's say this past year gave them a measure of rest and time for reflection - and importantly, Suga had time to finally get that shoulder surgery and recuperation.
C'mon, lets look on the bright side. People were literally dying over the world. So while we miss each other lets not make it like a scar or 'deep hurt'. Yes they struggled but a lot of people did and still do. They are alive and well and despite the 'temporary brakes' from covid they still found a way to reach ARMY and break records. Its a cause for celebration not tears given the circumstances. Sorry, i am just like to look at things from a bigger perspective.
@@honeybee2532 That's actually kind of my point. Yes, they broke records and found ways to reach ARMY. That doesn't change the fact that Covid hurt them. That they went from tens of thousands of screaming fans to utter silence practically overnight. My point was that, to them, this was a genuine loss and it truly hurt them. Most people had both positives and negatives come out of Covid, including the boys. Please don't just dismiss their very real pain, just because none of them died. I'm not trying to compare their pain with the pain that other people felt. I'm just pointing out that Covid actually hurt them. They're human and they have feelings, too. In "Blue and Grey", they even acknowledge that other people are in worse situations. That doesn't invalidate their own feelings. You may be looking at the "bigger picture" but, to me, you're just dismissing and minimalizing how much they struggled. For them, it actually was a "deep hurt". That's exactly what I wanted people to understand.

BTS always delivered the best of the best performances in their concert, award show, talk show...it's their way to show how much they love ARMY. Yes like all ARMY said only only only BTS csn turn award show to a concert 💜💜💜. on top of it, you will aspect a better performance on top the previous on...the syk is not their limit

The special “BTS formula” cannot be replicated. And no other band follows, they usually have them perform last and close the shows. All the award shows end up being a BTS mini concert 💁🏻♀️

BTS is the group where everything got right when they put it together. Their personalities, hard work, disciplin, talent, care and love for eachother is what have made them a super group. Their hard work, skills and personalities got them the ARMY and they have deserved everything they got and will get.

the Grammys will feel just how big of an ass they looked like..They lost alot of Respect in the music industry by what they did to BTS. There have been alot of Big name artists who the Grammy's usually have on, who have publicly said they dont care what award they are up for at the grammy's or how much time the Grammys say an artist can have for a speech or performance they will boycott being on there. The Grammy's screwed themselves more than they hurt BTS, and artists are showing their support.
NJ, you must react to BTS speech after winning an award on this performance! It`s moving! Everybody has cried.
Now that you've seen this, I can already imagine your reaction to their performance at MAMA 2018. Their ANPANMAN performance is sooo insane, the whole stadium turned out to be an ocean of ARMYs 💜💜💜
This performance legitimized BTS in the hearts and minds of the entire elder generation of South Korea. Their pride in their cultural heritage showed such respect, something that seems lost in the current USA music scene. Thanks, this is banging. Stay well
You should see the reactions of the other idols to this performance. They were visably shocked and completely entertained while experiencing this masterpiece live.
Jimin actually received a cultural award for his fan dance performance in this award show.
The Kim Baek Bong Fan Dance Conservation Society wrote, “By having reinterpreted the beautiful Korean fan dance in a unique way, you have made a great contribution in raising the status and aesthetic value of the Korean fan dance globally.”

(Correction:) in 2018, BTS all members received "The Order of Cultural Merit" from the President for their outstanding meritorious services in the fields of culture and art in the interest of promoting the national culture and national development.
After this MMA, Jimin received another award plaqueKorean Fan Dance Conservation Society from recognizing his oustanding traditional Korean fan dance (traditionally perform by females). Makes Jimin the only musician in Korean history to receive 3 national awards.
(The 3rd award being the James A. Van Fleet award in May 2020- all BTS members were given for their huge contributions for the promotion of US-Korea relations.
All of them got the Order of Cultural Merit though...

Some corrections: The Order of Cultural Merit and the Korean fan dance aren’t related at all. The ceremony was held before the MMA’s even took place that year, so Jimin’s fan dance wasn’t recognized or is tied to the Merit because it hadn’t happened yet.
After the MMA’s and he performed his fan dance, he received a plaque of appreciation from the Kim Baek Bong Korean Fan Dance Conservation Society. That’s not issued by the President, but the conservation society themselves.

In KPOP, having that many members is completely normal. Many have even more.

Someone correct me if I am mistaken but, I believe there is one Kpop grp that has 17 or 18 members.....Also since I really only watch/listen to BTS as far as Kpop bands go, can anyone reccomend another Boy Kpop band I should check out just so I can see really what is out there? I would appreciate any guidance you give me. thanks in advance.

Here they gave emotional speeches and first revealed that they had thought of disbanding at the beginning of 2018 but kept going just because of their love for ARMYs. It was tough to hear them and see them in 😭. This is why Army is so protective of BTS💜
Hi from Sweden. My first song that hooked me to BTS was Anpanman. When my mother died last year in november me and my daughter listened to BTS all night with a lit candle. It gave us comfort

Thank you, yes you just feel like diving into the screen to just be there. The excitement is incredible. Imagine being in there. They are the Titans of the industry, every single Performance makes history. It makes me think how the Grammy's invited BTS to perform with Lil Nas in the 2020 stage & they shared a tiny stage, shared his song & our boys are a group who sing & dance & it was insane to watch that Performance. Gosh! But BTS were still happy to perform.

You should definitely watch all the live performances at the MAMA and MMA awards 2017,2019,2020. Especially the performance with Dionysus
They are ambassadors of their country,for promoting, showing their culture and of course they do it wonderfully well.I share your opinion on stage they become beings from another world..but after years of watching them in their own shows...RUN with episodes where they have trials or BON VOYAGE where they have travelled to other parts of the world and you see how they really are,how they interact and in the end you realise that they are normal guys,with worries,dreams, like anyone else their age..that and the natural talent that each one of them has makes them the perfect combination..😱OMGGGG you never get tired of watching them..of course the performances and LIVE concerts are another level..Thank NJ💜..keep enjoying...and for the 250k...come on!!! I became a fan after watching this performance. I thought this performance was to be final stage but there was another band that came after. To me, nothing was comparable to this performance that night. It was just so speechless!

Asian awards shows make western awards shows look like amateur hour. Imagine the Brits or the Scammies putting on something of this magnitude. Just ain't gonna happen! I think that's part of the reason why the boys only get tiny time slots and are only allowed to perform one song when they do get an appearance. The awards shows are scared of them showing the public how they should be done!
This time AMA bts has 2 songs with them. Let's see how AMA handle this with bts, megan the stallion and coldplay
NJ I just love your enthusiasm towards BTS, I am of the older generation and I have followed them since 2013 and I would love to see them in concert.

Oh yeah, I remember how my brain was shot out and I was totally (still) delighted with them. Day after day I was discovering and still discovering so much content about them ......... it's such a wonderful feeling when you discover something totally different that makes your heart beat faster and you feel dizzy with someone's talent which causes your batteries to recharge . They became my inspiration, they awakened so many sleeping things in me.
You were mesmerised! I have to smile at that. BTS has set the standard so high there is no other kpop group which can outdo them. RM once said that they will try to bring something new to the stage so that Army could enjoy their performance. BigHit hit it big to have discovered the 7 gems. 3J perf mma 2018 was a blast.
There's videos of the stage shaking when they performed idol. Those onstage were holding onto their chairs. That's how good their perf can be.

One of the most beautiful moments of my life was when I was at Soldier field in Chicago and BTS did Idol.

This is probably my favorite performance of theirs. Generally, their MMA performances are the highlight of the year, even though there are many different awards shows. Each album has it's own set of concepts, and their performances vary in the expression of that concept for each award show. Their concerts are more consistent, and because they are longer, have more informal - and personal - parts as well.
It's funny that you mentioned during the "Fake Love" intro that they seemed beyond human, because they were portraying *puppets* - marionettes - which is also part of the usual Fake Love choreo (think Jimin controlling them all with a sweep of his hand e.g.)
The audiences during the award shows are not entirely ARMY: there are fans of all Kpop groups, as well as the other groups themselves.
This performance was EPIC with IDOL just AWESOME
Can you believe that it's only 2 dollar ticket award show? Melon is Korea's biggest music streaming platform like spotify, apple music, and they sold the tickets with only 2 dollars for their subscribers..
When you have 1 title song but 20 types of performances....💜💜💜 that's how diff they wanna show to world their talent...

In 2 weeks they will have an online fan meeting (muster). Its like a concert but there are more interactive activities. BTS will play games, act out in skits, on top of singing. There was no muster last year, it is exciting to have the first online muster. Previously, physical musters only took place in korea and japan. Now everyone can join in. You can buy tickets from the weverse store.
Emphasizing what you said. Is Epic, and this is only an award show. Indeed. The uniqueness of BTS is that it doesn't matter how big or small the event is, they always give 300% of their effort. Their concerts are 2,5 hour long, with no opening act and 2 or 3 potpourri, all bts songs, no covers, and we still complain that some songs are missing.
The fact that it is just an award show, all of us are extremely in awe 😂 That is why they say Award Shows are turned into a BTS mini concert 💜👍

NJ! There are just no words to describe what it is like at their concert. Suffice it to say you suffer withdrawal symptoms before you even make it back home afterwards. It gives me chills just thinking about the next time I get to see them in person. I am still holding on to my tickets!! 💜

For your info, there were no audiences in 2020 MMA and just an on-line concert so atmosphere is very different and quiet.
