  • Giant ambassador Adam Craig has traveled the world to race and ride his mountain bike, but some of his favorite trails are right in his backyard.
These days he spends much of his time building and maintaining trails in Oregon with the U.S. Forest Service and Trans Cascadia. It’s hard work, but Adam will tell you there’s no greater reward than sampling the goods-especially when he gets to do it on his new Trance X Advanced Pro 29.
With a full-composite frame, updated longer-travel Maestro suspension system, and a new flip chip feature that lets you adjust frame geometry to match the terrain, it’s the perfect choice for big days in the backcountry.

Bought mine brand new 2021 Trance X 29r, Owned for 5 months as of today. Had nothing but problems. Frame was completely replaced by Giant under warranty in 1 month of owning cause a weird crazy noise, and the Sram shifting is tremendously horrible. My rear brakes completely went out causing me to crash hardcore and end up in hospital. The guys at Dons Bicycles in Redlands CA where purchased felt so bad and were baffled of all these failures of brand new bike. They hooked me up with upgraded slx Shimano brakes... Than my dropper seat completely failed while on long ride. I literally got of the bike and walked it back home so disappointed. This is my third Giant and love how this bike rides climbs etc.... but highly recommend spending extra money for another bike for future buyers.

Picked up my Trance X 3 last week I’m So Cal after a 4 month wait. Only have a few rides on it with all the rain we are receiving but it’s a beast of a bike. Can handle any terrain. Going from a Talon to Trance X feels like I’m floating down the mountain. Thank you Giant!

Can i ask how its going on it after 3 years? :D I got dilemma between new Trance X 29 or 27.5 and Reign 29 2022. Looking for as most as possible all mountain bike. A lot of flat long rides, some uphill and bike parks with jumps and blue trails from time to time. Every tested 27.5 bike was feeling very fun. Im just worried about flat terrain chilly rides. Best Regards

Picked up mine just 4 weeks ago and I cannot be happier with it. Had just over a dozen rides taking it to local trails, downhill race course, bike park and dirt jumps. Really tried my best to throw everything at it and It really is that one bike that does it all well and I can't complain. Really well done Giant!

Ughh...I wish we could find out the next year's color and specs in advance. I'll give Giant 2 more years to come out with a long travel 29er, minimum 150mm rear specced with Fox. I love their bikes but I'm out growing the shallow rear suspension.

    • @discostu333
      @discostu333 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@justsayin3600 The way the Maestro suspension works means that 135mm rear feels more like a 150mm rear horst link bike, just much more efficient for all day pedalling and climbing. Perhaps you'd be better off with a Reign 29 if you need the extra travel?

Love the bike design th-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L and functionality. It is hard to align the front tired to center the disk brakes. The brake wheel touches the stationery side of the brake caliper and pad. I aired the tire up to 40 psi as the markings say 40-60psi. Left the house for a few hours and came back to an exploded innertube. All in all it seems to be a good bike. Have not ridden it yet though so that's the max of my knowledge. Update, put a new innertube made sure the tire was set properly and it did the same thing in under 20 minutes as second pic shows.

So why dont you look at other brands? Trek, Canyon, Scott etc. Giants max rear is 146, which is not enough of course. Yes I know, one model do have 160, but is 27.5 and coil shock. I suggest you buy Trek remedy or slash. It looks much better too, Giants geo is just outdated.

All the videos and reviews, and comparisons, are in the west and or at ski resorts.
I live in the Northern Virginia area. I need a bike for the true tight single track and switch backs, along with the multiple types of terrain and soil we have in this region. I do not I do not want a bike that is a pedal and Crankset DESTROYER!!!!
I like a bike that does not dictate to me all the many places it will not allow pedaling!
A bike that performs well at: sprints, Climbs, descents, flat areas, roots, ruts, really rocky, loose soil, loose on hard, mud, sand, loam...
Our Appalachian mountains are older and not as peaked as the Rockies, or as tall.
NOT DOING GAP JUMPS AND BIKE PARKS.
Any of you able to ride and compare the other 12x-14x travel, brands/bikes to INTENSE, GIANT TRANCE X pro, PIVOT 429, or maybe too much bike for here the SWITCHBLADE?
Is it true that the NEW redesigned SWITCHBLADE is such a better pedaling and handling magician that it is as good or better than a smaller travel bike like the 429 or Scott whatever model, etc.?
Are most of the bikes to long and slack to ride the tighter switchbacks?
Looking for a great all around MIDATLANTIC, totally different environment of riding.
Will the new Geometry of the LOW, long and slack, be harder on the knees since I assume the knee will be more in front of the pedal spindle vs traditional? Is the Intense geometry a little behind, in reality? Is this good or bad for a pedal everywhere bike? Not just descending!
How about the LIVE VALVE, is it just a way to Separate A fool from his money? Or does it truly make it like owning two or three different bikes? Does it make it a cross country bike and a trail bike and a enduro bike? Does it add in a lot of problems in cost and time and maintenance? Or does it just make the bike a lot better?
How good is the basic peddling platform and suspension on the Trance X? Without the Live Wire magic, is it as good or better than a DW link? What are the differences in sprinting, climbing, ascending tech/rocky and loose or roots, and tight switchbacks? Descending same?
WOW what horrible wheels the Trance X pro comes with! Do you have to pedal a quarter of the way around before the hub engages? What are the specs on rim internal and ext.? Spokes? Nipples? Is the hub upgradable? carbon quality? Do they crack easy? Will a 2.6 fit well in the back?
What is the quality of the frame carbon?
I do not want to get beat up or jack hammered, but I don’t want a wet noodle.
I am 6 foot 1 inch tall and 165 pounds naked.
A bike and manufacture I can count on In the backcountry, and to have to have quality support post sale!!!!
Thank you, and good riding to you all!

OK, I wanted to respond to your post. I have a Giant Trance X 29-2 and have been riding it in the PA woods and trails for about 8 weeks now. It is pretty amazing. Yes, it's about 4 lbs. heavier than the carbon but about ~$2,500 cheaper, give or take how bike prices are fluctuating. It is a really good climber with the seat position and frame geometry but an absolute trail slayer on the downhills. I've seriously been a little scared as I've ripped down some inclines, full of rocks and roots, but the bike has just glided through with no issues. That little extra weight really helps on the downhils. (A good set of carbon or lighter alloy wheels with a tad smaller (2.4) tires will shave some weight off, and you can go to a 54t or higher hub if you're looking for better engagement). On the climbs, I lock the DPS in the down position and the grip is great. I am 6'/160lbs and ride a large. The fit is quite good and there are a lot adjustments you can make with the saddle and handlebar positions to get dialed-in. If you're looking for a bike in the $3,500 range, this is a very solid choice.
