Just wondering, were you curious to see whether a larger fan can fit the cooling system on this mini PC? The fan is waaaay shorter than the fins. I saw some very cheap intel nuc 8 fan on AliExpress, thought it might fit
I would not touch the fan because it is not needed. This computer does not get very hot.
I have the same. This PC's m.2 nvme ssd has speed maximum 1700 Mb/s. And you cannot play even dota 2, becouse low fps (720p too) and much freezes.
This is not a gaming machine. Unless your games are from 20 years ago, and even then- not so much. This is a low power machine for being a media player or retro-gaming.
What's the the SSD drive you upgraded to? Is there a list of compatible drives? Nice music, reminds me of Jean-Michel Jarre
KingSpec NX 2TB gen3 I also used it with WD BLACK SN850X 2TB gen4 ... in addition to M.2 NVMe 2280, it also supports M.2 sata 2242 in the second slot ...

Is the processor upgradable?
@@darkmatterx Unfortunately not…
Thank you for this "deep dive" into the NucBox! Wasn't sure about the process, so I waited for someone trying it first... :)
Are you running Win11, if so, how to transfer the OS to the new SSD?
I would install New Win 11 on the New disk. You can download the drivers from the manufacturer's website, copy them to a usb (so that you have the drivers ready because win does not have a LAN and Wi-Fi driver in it)... or Another option You could create an image of the disk, then restore it to New But for you need an m.2 to usb adapter and a computer with enough space to copy the ssd...
@@PCMasterX Thanks for your help!
@@weinbergfahrer4048 Don’t just do a clean reinstall and get the drivers from the official website. The drivers from the manufacturers could be infected, especially if your PC is as cheap as mine. It only cost me less than 75€.
Thanks for the video. Got me to the CPU to check thermal paste.
Awesome. That's great to hear.

Is the fan 5v or 12v? Also do you void warranty if you disassemble is like that for maybe repasting it? because you are removing that tape that holds the motherboard its easy to see it has been opened.
Yes, but that's why I know that the fan is DC 5V ...
@@PCMasterX Thanks for this!
Does anyone have Bluetooth gamepad Problems in batocera 38, when WiFi is turned on?
After connecting my gmktec with WiFi, my Bluetooth gamepad has latency Problems. (Tried for 3 different gamepads, and for all the Same Problem)
I have Input delays and Sometimes the Buttons dont Work at all.
My gmktec is connected in the 2,4 and 5 GHz frequency wifi. I switched to 5 ghz-only, but unfortunatelly nothing changed at all.
Any ideas? Thanks!
can you replicate it with an ethernet connection?
Have you tried with another wireless one, i.e. bluetooth card?
Hello! That video is usefull! Do you think it is possible to replace wifi board with Google Coral PCiE module?
I don't have the wireless card to try it out...but if it's an m.2 slot it would probably work...
Can you upgrade the intel processor to i5 or i7?
On that mini pc, the processor is soldered...
Using mine with unraid as a NAS drive. Anyone know if I could use the m.2 slot the Wi-Fi card is in for an m.2 2230?
According to intel information on the N100, the accepted memories are:
DDR4 3200 MT/s
DDR5 4800 MT/s
LPDDR5 4800 MT/s
With max memory of 16 GB.
Is this information still valid with your motherboard?
Can I use the DDR5 4800 MT/s ?
This mini pc model is a variant with DDR4 3200 and works only with DDR4 memory.
Nice video. My barebones G3 arrived today. It's missing a screw in the 2280 M.2 slot 😕
Update: I was mistaken. Found the screw in a bag of hardware for the vesa mount, for some reason. The screw for the 2242 slot is on the motherboard.
Very sad ... My model was with an m.2 ssd so I got a screw but I also got a screw on the m.2 at 2242 and if that ssd wasn't there ... with the new m.2 ssd you get one or even two screws...
I wanted to install Openmediavault in this G3, however I receive these USB errors at boot

G3 support replied me that they only support Windows 11 but it seems a Bios issue.
Anyone is having these USB issues with G3 ?
Open Media Vault 6.5 works on G3 now tested. turn off the secure bot in the bios and create an installation usb with ventoy ...
@@PCMasterX Thank you , exactly what secure bot setting did you disable ?

@@PCMasterXThank you it was already disabled. I think my USB ports are broken in this case.

Im looking at getting a barebone and installing my own ram and ssd, do i have to use a particular brand when installing ram or can i throw a g.skill module in
I didn't try it with that brand of memory, but I tried it with other memories and it works. It is important that the memory is DDR4 3200Mhz... and if the memory has a cooler, will it physically fit inside?
Did you manage to buy and upgrade? If so, what component brands/models did you buy?
Anyone know if this G3 comes with a intel chipset wifi 6 card or Realtek chipset? Conflicting reports so I am just curious which is it.
My G3 came with Realtek WI-FI 6 …
@PCMasterX thanks for replying. I ordered a G3 which arrives in a few days. I'll probably buy a intel wifi 6 m 2 card if it has a Realtek. Appreciate your reply.
@PCMasterX Does it really matter which antenna wire is connected to the wifi card? I took a picture of the original wifi card before i removed it, the black antenna wire was connected to AUX & the gray wire connected to. MAIN. I've read conflicting reports that it doesnt matter which antenna wire is attached to MAIN or AUX. I'm just curious. Wifi works with new intel wifi 6e card but lol it shows a ethernet connection when I'm not using ethernet. I'm using wifi only. I don't have a cat cable connected to my G3 mini pc. Strange huh
I bought one and unfortunately does not have the option to activate to start auto on power failure.
Of course it can be set in bios ... Chipset option -> PCH-IO Configuration -> Wake on Power Automatic -> set to -> S0 State ...
@@PCMasterX thanks for the info it works now!

I swapped out my 256gm for a 2T ram chip and now I’m stuck in the “bios setup utility” page and it won’t actually start my computer. Help?
You don't have an operating system on your new ssd, you need to install windows or linux. You need to create a USB with Windows or Linux, so that you can use it to install the operating system on the new drive.
How do I get any OS onto a USB without paying for some windows package (unless that’s illegal to ask) the original PC came with windows 11 on it
@@thwhitrabbit I bought Windows 11 Home from StackSocial for $25 and it came with the Product Key, which is nice to have if you have to reinstall at some point.
