    Fun facts: this movie was funded in part by members of Pink Floyd and The Beatles. The various castles are different sides of the same castle. Because of the shoestring budget, they could only afford one horse-hence the coconuts. Also because of the limited the budget, most of the music was licensed from stock recordings. There’s a Broadway musical named Spamalot based on this that Paramount has purchased the rights for.

    Interesting story about the actors in this movie. They were a comedy troupe named Monty Python and had a comedy show in England called "Monty Python's flying Circus". That's how they got to make this movie. Their comedy had become SO popular that it became all the rage here in the US. The first time they performed in front of an American audience, there was no laughter. The audience was mostly silent. As each member came backstage during the skits they weren't in, they were crushed at how badly they thought they bombed. Then, their manager said "You're not bombing. Look out at the audience." They looked out to see the audience repeating and mouthing the lines of their skits as they said them. They were SO loved that the audience KNEW their skits VERBATIM!!

    A little background about the original story... some people think that the reason the singing prince who fell out of the window survived is because he fell into watery swamp and floated, because he was a witch.
    What they don't know is that his fall was actually broken by landing on a moose. The film had a very high moose budget.

    That's because they are the same castle (except the one on the small island at the very end): Doune Castle in Scotland. They only were allowed by the owners of this one (privately owned) castle to film, because the officials in charge of the other castles thought it would be damaging to the buildings' dignity to allow filming a comedy there.

    Eric Idle, of Monty Python, teamed up with musician Neil Innes to create a Beatles-spoof band called THE RUTLES, which also featured some of the original cast of SNL like John Belushi, Dan Akroyd, Bill Murray, and Gilda Radner. It was created for NBC TV in 1978, and is hilarious... especially the amazing spoof on the Beatles songs themselves, like one called CHEESE AND ONIONS. It's well worth watching. I love watching newer generations watch this movie. I was almost afraid you were going to miss the subtitles, they are one of the best parts of the movie. Fun fact, they incorporated all the coconut jokes specifically due to not being able to afford horses for the budget.

    trivia: is believed Monty Python and the Holy Grail has the most moose credit mentions of any film
    If King Arthur and his Knights of Camelot had found the Holy Grail, archeologist Indiana Jones would be out of a job.

      Personally I prefer Monty Python and the Holy Grail or Monty Python's the meaning of life to life of Brian. All the Monty Python films (and other work) are good, just personal preference.

    • @TTM9691
      @TTM9691 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Satankat666 Not me. Life Of Brian is the work all of Python is most proud of, it's their greatest accomplishment, and also their smartest, sharpest and most consequential movie. Love the others of course, but Holy Grail is way inconsistent and has scenes I have no use for. (the three-headed thing, which is just marginally lamer than the whole Knights/shrubbery section, especially when they return with the shrubbery). Also I like Monty Python, not just John Cleese and Graham Chapman. There's WAY less Palin and Jones in Holy Grail, which is a HUGE minus. The whole reason Python got together was so John Cleese could work with Palin. Palin is AMAZING in Life Of Brian. Character after character, often scene to scene, which is what the Pythons valued him most for: never-ending variety of characters. Life Of Brian is WAY more cohesive.

      @@Satankat666 i also prefer grail over brian, while i agree that brian is more cohesive and all that, i still think grail is just so much better with much higher rewatchability and more quotable.

    There was a musical "Camelot" that was made into a movie a few years before this one.
    The Holy Hamd Grenade did get the rabbit. You can see "it" fly up from the explosion and hit the top of the cave entrance.
