Still not good enough. It's 2020 and they still can't bring us Prototype level quality when mass produced. First thing that's lacking is the color pallet.

16:38 - That side-by-side perfectly shows how superior Mattel's version is. Not just with not having that non-realistic shiny plastic, but the show accurate larger eyes. The Super7 version has human sized eyes. It makes them look like a cosplayer instead of a feline character.

I received my Super7 Lion-O today. I don’t have the Mattel and I watched this video before I got my Super7 and thought the Mattel paint looks better. The video does not do the Super7 figure justice. The alt-head is AMAZING. The amount of accessories makes this figure WORTH the price. If I had the choice between the Mattel and this, Super7 hands down.

Lion-o doesn't even look like Lion-o with the terrible faded and dingy skin tone, squinting eyes and long lady gloves painted up past the joint pins they pretended would not be there....this line is headed for extinction once again. Perhaps Neca will give us a Thundercats toon line that won't be a store exclusive.
Seriously! The promo shots would have been the resin prototypes, has the last 12 years of experience with MOTU classics, which this line is connected to physically, not been enough of an indicator of what to expect!

I think almost all of these prototypes miss some articulation and therefore the pins as well. They never promised they would be pinless..and really, the Matty face looks waaaaay worse than the new one imo..
I think I like the new face paint more. It’s not as cartoony, but I think it’s a step towards being more natural kind of like how the original MOTUC he man took things to the next step. I love the turtles, but at this point I’m more excited to see where Thundercats ultimates goes. Especially after that amazing Slythe reveal.

Ugh, that peg sticking out of his belt is something I was hoping Super7 was going to fix. Did they even listen to fan feedback? I could have done without one of the extra claw shields if they would have went with a system of magnets for attaching the claw to his belt. Not a good start for Super7, especially with all the delays and lack of transparency when giving/not giving updates.

Thundercats, Hoooo! lol. Been looking forward to these coming out. Funds were tight when the first release came out but I'm definitely grabbing these. Looking at the sales page for Lion-O it looks like the 2 sets of gripping hands are not a mistake. Very weird that he doesn't come with fists. I do wish though that Super 7 wouldn't put everything under the Ultimates banner. Some of the included accessories on future releases I could do without if it meant a lower priced figure. Or at the very least use the extra cost to update the articulation.

But they tend to want someone as far removed from the likes of TalkerArt (or even Unparalleled/Boog) as possible lol. Until more transparent reviews become available, at least we can physically see what the final (unfortunate but not surprising) product looks like. So I can appreciate having an early look.

The white shading in general is too heavy-handed because they painted on a skin-toned plastic. The face plastic is not painted, like the Mattel version, so the white shading looks too bright.
How are you saying in the same breath you prefer the non cartoony look of the Mattel version (which is more accurate figure btw), and then immediately say you do prefer the more cartoony claw shield?! The paint apps on the Super7 version are completely off. We all see it....no?
8-9-20 The figure is ok...not worth $40+ though... I know that you said that this isnt supposed to be, cartoon accurate...but more "real world" ( I dont agree with that excuse). But in my opinion, the 8" bandai Lion-O (retail version), is still the most cartoon accurate Lion-O action figure to date. No disrespect intended toward you, but I prefer when you buy your figures, instead of the freebies. I say that because for the majority of reviewers that get freebies, their "reviews" seem to stop being actual reviews, and become more of a shilled commercial for the company supplying the figures.
That Sword of Omens absolutely SUCKS. Yes the hilt is far more accurate than the previous one, but the blade is too thin, and also slightly too short as well. The sword did not look like this in the show, and it makes the overall look sword weaker and more puny, with a toothpick blade. Baffles me that after all this time the most accurate toy representation of the Sword of Omens that has ever been released (minus the paint job on the hilt) is the metal/chrome version of the SDCC bandai version. Glad I saw this review, will be avoiding wasting my money.
I just opened my Lion-O figure today and when removed the claw from his waist, that little blue handle de attached from the figure... Is that supposed to get out or is broken?
Hey ToyBro, any word on what Version 2 of these figures will look like? I'm not a fan of how shiny the Lion-O is, I would've much preferred a matte finish like Mattel's.
Looks like the Super 7 version went with the original prototype head, which I always liked more than what they changed it to. How does that color match on the hands between the 2? You could use the second pair of gripping hands to give the original Matty version a hand that would actually hold his sword.
Didn't Lion-O sheath the Sword of Omens in his claw-shield when he was wearing it in the cartoon too? That's the one option missing with regards to all these claw-shields.

I bought these figures when they first went up on BBTS round November 2019, THIS IS EXACTLY what I was afraid of. Glossy plastic, bad Paint apps and probably BAD quality control issues. $200.00 for a full set and a whole year waiting and we get exactly what Super 7 did with their Masters of the Universe line? Totally disappointed with the Outcome of Lion-O & Panthro. Lion-O looks just plain Ugly with the Paint apps on his face and Panthro, just had his trunks in the wrong color, the only thing that's keeping me from returning them is that HOPEFULLY super 7 will make the entire cast of Characters!!! Update: Just Cancelled all 3 wave set Orders, total cost $600.00 I'm not giving STUPID7 my Money if my 6 year old kid can paint much better--- I won't be buying ANYTHING from Super 7 again.

Hey Toybro. We've talked quite a bit on Twitter before I was suspended. Man, that closeup shot at 9:39 makes it looks like he's got some MAJOR paint issues in the face by the chin. Can't say I'm a fan of the other face either: never been fond of "angry face" Lion-O's. And four Claw Shields is just superfluous. You only need one: and Bandai pulled it off better. Why do you call the furry Claw Shield "realistic"? And yeah, the new Sword of Omens is MUCH more accurate to the animation model. Glad to see they actually used the correct symbol as well! Really wish one of those sets of hands had different articulation, so you can raise the sword above his head properly or put it in front of his face for a reasonable "Sight Beyond Sight". I'll do my own review of all of them whenever they're shipped from BBTS. But overall, pretty informative review! Edit: Bandai's issue was with distribution. And apparently their change in scale came down to MOTU collectors crying that the 8in ThunderCats weren't in scale with their MOTU classics line. Bandai didn't screw that license up; Warner Brothers did. And frankly, the Bandai figures are more accurate to the show that the Matty/Super7 versions are. And they didn't need 4 Claw Shields to do it.
Dude Bandai was trash for the classic versions. They did the 2011 figures very well but the vintage line blew huge chunks on every level. They looked nothing like the toys comics or animation models.
@@rupturefarms21 Factually incorrect. They matched the animation model sheets very well. As opposed to these, which are built off a 10+ year old buck of a different toyline altogether. The bodies of the ThunderCats are structured differently than characters in MOTU all the way down to having specific muscles that don't even exist in reality. They also didn't make some asinine furry Claw Shield that never existed in common media. Come back when you have an actual argument.

Ugh, that peg sticking out of his belt is something I was hoping Super7 was going to fix. Did they even listen to fan feedback? I could have done without one of the extra claw shields if they would have went with a system of magnets for attaching the claw to his belt. Not a good start for Super7, especially with all the delays and lack of transparency when giving/not giving updates.
The main guy at super7 said they were going to fix it. He lied. It's the same peg as the old one.

Thundercats, Hoooo! lol. Been looking forward to these coming out. Funds were tight when the first release came out but I'm definitely grabbing these. Looking at the sales page for Lion-O it looks like the 2 sets of gripping hands are not a mistake. Very weird that he doesn't come with fists. I do wish though that Super 7 wouldn't put everything under the Ultimates banner. Some of the included accessories on future releases I could do without if it meant a lower priced figure. Or at the very least use the extra cost to update the articulation.

I'm just taking your message to mean some of Super7's MOTU figures were shinny, and so are their ThunderCats. So at least they're keeping it consistent with very toyish looking, super expensive, adult collectible figures.

Right. Most companies want to utilize reviewers that are more mild mannered, don't cuss, etc. Nothing wrong with that of course - and there's definite exceptions. But they tend to want someone as far removed from the likes of TalkerArt (or even Unparalleled/Boog) as possible lol. Until more transparent reviews become available, at least we can physically see what the final (unfortunate but not surprising) product looks like. So I can appreciate having an early look.

The pins don't bother me at all
"Everything on the face is really crisp and clean..." Really ?!!! Have you seen your video ?! That face is a mess! The white shading on the chin is horribly done. The white shading in general is too heavy-handed because they painted on a skin-toned plastic. The face plastic is not painted, like the Mattel version, so the white shading looks too bright.
In Pantro it's even worse.
I know this guy has pissed me off a bit, tottaly ignoring glaring issues.

The figure is ok...not worth $40+ though... I know that you said that this isnt supposed to be, cartoon accurate...but more "real world" ( I dont agree with that excuse).
But in my opinion, the 8" bandai Lion-O (retail version), is still the most cartoon accurate Lion-O action figure to date. No disrespect intended toward you, but I prefer when you buy your figures, instead of the freebies.
I say that because for the majority of reviewers that get freebies, their "reviews" seem to stop being actual reviews, and become more of a shilled commercial for the company supplying the figures.
Fifty bucks each seems really steep for this line.
That Sword of Omens absolutely SUCKS. Yes the hilt is far more accurate than the previous one, but the blade is too thin, and also slightly too short as well. The sword did not look like this in the show, and it makes the overall look sword weaker and more puny, with a toothpick blade.
Baffles me that after all this time the most accurate toy representation of the Sword of Omens that has ever been released (minus the paint job on the hilt) is the metal/chrome version of the SDCC bandai version.
Glad I saw this review, will be avoiding wasting my money.

I'm happy with this. The sword was kinda of a big boo boo, but its not a deal breaker. I think this guy edges the Mattel version just a little.

Looks like the Super 7 version went with the original prototype head, which I always liked more than what they changed it to. How does that color match on the hands between the 2? You could use the second pair of gripping hands to give the original Matty version a hand that would actually hold his sword.

Poor figs .. save my money
I bought these figures when they first went up on BBTS round November 2019, THIS IS EXACTLY what I was afraid of. Glossy plastic, bad Paint apps and probably BAD quality control issues. $200.00 for a full set and a whole year waiting and we get exactly what Super 7 did with their Masters of the Universe line? Totally disappointed with the Outcome of Lion-O & Panthro. Lion-O looks just plain Ugly with the Paint apps on his face and Panthro, just had his trunks in the wrong color, the only thing that's keeping me from returning them is that HOPEFULLY super 7 will make the entire cast of Characters!!!
Update: Just Cancelled all 3 wave set Orders, total cost $600.00 I'm not giving STUPID7 my Money if my 6 year old kid can paint much better--- I won't be buying ANYTHING from Super 7 again.
The two grip hand sets are slightly different. One is tighter than the other.

I got mine in the mail today. Lion-O paint job is so dark and dull. To me, it’s just so dark that it’s removed from the cartoon.
Others MOTUC don't have that terrible gap in the abs. It is not correct that you say that.

Hey Toybro. We've talked quite a bit on Twitter before I was suspended.
Man, that closeup shot at 9:39 makes it looks like he's got some MAJOR paint issues in the face by the chin. Can't say I'm a fan of the other face either: never been fond of "angry face" Lion-O's. And four Claw Shields is just superfluous. You only need one: and Bandai pulled it off better. Why do you call the furry Claw Shield "realistic"? And yeah, the new Sword of Omens is MUCH more accurate to the animation model. Glad to see they actually used the correct symbol as well!
Really wish one of those sets of hands had different articulation, so you can raise the sword above his head properly or put it in front of his face for a reasonable "Sight Beyond Sight". I'll do my own review of all of them whenever they're shipped from BBTS. But overall, pretty informative review!
Edit: Bandai's issue was with distribution. And apparently their change in scale came down to MOTU collectors crying that the 8in ThunderCats weren't in scale with their MOTU classics line. Bandai didn't screw that license up; Warner Brothers did. And frankly, the Bandai figures are more accurate to the show that the Matty/Super7 versions are. And they didn't need 4 Claw Shields to do it.
Dude Bandai was trash for the classic versions. They did the 2011 figures very well but the vintage line blew huge chunks on every level. They looked nothing like the toys comics or animation models.
@@rupturefarms21 Factually incorrect. They matched the animation model sheets very well. As opposed to these, which are built off a 10+ year old buck of a different toyline altogether. The bodies of the ThunderCats are structured differently than characters in MOTU all the way down to having specific muscles that don't even exist in reality.
They also didn't make some asinine furry Claw Shield that never existed in common media. Come back when you have an actual argument.
