Hello Peanut Galley! My addiction to making rope continues! In this video I will show you how to turn your plastic grocery bags into rope using our handy dandy homemade loom (Kumihimo Japanese Weaving). I think making rope with the grocery bags was the easiest so far. Give it a try! You can watch my playlist to see how I made rope from yarn and t-shirt scraps too. tinyurl.com/ldopyut Enjoy! xoxo
I get a smile seeing you so excited. I had no idea how you were going to do rope with plastic bags. Going to try to interest my granddaughters in doing this.
Hi Darleen! I Just did the plastic bag rope loom. I did the loom template out of a plastic plate. I only got to do one plastic bag, Lol the loom template broke just as i finished. The end result is ok! 😊 Its 1:50am here in Sydney Australia. I thought I try it since i cannot sleep. Thank You for your inspiration. ❤😊👍
As much foolin around with rope as we did in Boy Scouts, I've never seen one of these looms. I've helped the wife do a three-strand plarn rope for beach bag handles but the 7 strand rope you just whipped up is certainly stronger and looks neater. Kudos!
I know this was made a year ago, just hope you see my comment. The first bag you started off with, my husband used to work for that company “Shur Fine” before it became Topco I believe. So cool that just saw that company logo. Gotta try this out with the bags that I have.
I had to show my daughter's the part where you said a dog leash could be made this way. My teen daughters are always buying turn out lines (no fence yet at our new off grid home). Their dogs are always messing the tie outs up and their $15-20 each! And they don't even use them much as they're house dogs. The tie outs say 125# dog. And they're broke! Lol We have a 55lb Aussie Rott mix. And a 95# St Bernard Mastiff "puppy". Lol I'm going to make some of these and see how strong they are. Maybe we'll experiment. Lol
4:15 lol its plastic, take an iron to the ends to turn them back into loops lol i use an iron and the cheapest document protector sheets thingies that go in binders to ghetto-rig my own laminating system lol
Darlene I just started watching like a month ago and since this is my first comment I have to say "hi!" I'm loving your stuff! Me and my girls used this to make jump ropes! We used 2 in wide strips. Keep the cool stuff coming!
Hi Darlene. I'm weaving the plastic bags and sewing the rope into a mat. My problem is the mat seems to be curling up instead of lying flat. I don't have a particular size in mind.....but wow a rug size would be great (and probably not gonna happen!). Would you please tell me what I am doing wrong that the mat won't lie flat? I love these crafty videos. Thank you so much!
I sort of did. You don't want an entire loop of t-shirt fabric as it might be too bulky for the loom. But might work for a bigger loom. With single strand, you cut a slit on each end of the fabric to create the loop you need to pass the fabric through and that's what I did with the t-shirt fabric.

I don’t know if I’m watching because I’m interested in what you’re making or simply because you’re so adorable!
Embroidery thread in metallic would make adorable shoe laces 😊

you have so much talent..very fun to watch.. have a happy day.
I did the embroidery thread today for an ankle bracelet. It turned out great!
Makes good clothesline or crochet or knit it for door mat or tote bags or make ground mats for camping or homeless.
I love it. Thank you so much for the idea
You are awesome, love the idea and I'm going to make some of these.

Just stopping by to say you're my mom now and there is nothing you can do about it. You're such a joy, haha
I'm good with that! lol

You can iron the plastic bags. Just make sure your iron is on medium heat and you have a piece of parchment paper. No knots. Fuse the bags together.
Have you try the lanyard plastic string ??

Ooh I might try this with flax in NZ
I think flax would be awesome!
I like your choppy bangs :)
Great idea!!

Not this, but do you have any ideas for dryer lint?...Oh, and this is a great recycle project!
Put dryer lint in empty egg carton cups and pour melted wax (paraffin or old color crayons) over for firestarters
So satisfying😍😍😍😍🌎🌏🌍🌲🌲🌲✌✌✌✌✌✌✌✌
Lovely
What about adding beads? ;)
You should weave a tote bag from plastic cord!
Why could'nt you connect tee shirt material the same way???

I watch videos to learn to make things you didn't make anything
I record what I feel like recording. If you don't like it, move on and try another channel. I'm not here just for people who want to make things.
And I did show you how to make a cord. That's something, isn't it?
@Mattie Reeves You can make a net , a basket with rope...
