Cooles Video!

I visited Iran in 1979 with my Iranian college friends. We are still friends to this day and I am considered Uncle to his children who write to me. Thank you Josh for this: the Iranian people that I met and those that I have now known for years - are the kindest, most joyful and soul minded people. I was actually due to move to Iran to teach English and sadly things changed in a short period of time. With friends we visted Charlus, the Caspian Sea and what was then Bandar e Phlavi. I went to the Mosque there for prayers. I respectfully sat at the back during prayers. Upon conclusion - the most amazing event as people came up to me and greeted me and thanked me for the honor of my presence at thier Mosque. Truly a memory I will never forget. I was told that the Quran holds that those to whom a visitor may come are charged with their safety. This is the Quran that I know and respect. Throughout my time, the warmth of welcome was one that has never been matched. I can see all the faces to this day. MY friend Abdullah and I have now been friends since 1975...some 47 years. I hope to one day travel back to a country that I feel very connected to on many levels. Hard to describe. Soulful. To visit and pay respects to Abdullah brother who passed away...I taught him English back in the day in Leeds. UK. Bless his soul. I hope to seek out Mahan Air...and as I am a bit older now and retired...certainly a bucket list hpoe for me. I pulled out the photos from the Caspina Sea...and I will never forget. Thank you Josh for this video. I so enjoyed seeing your excitement. Stay safe and happy travels. Farsi baladam. Love to all. xxxx

To be honest I believe 99% of all humans in the world are nice. Its just the governments and political issues that makes the world feels unsafe but thats not true. I remember one could fly Mahan Air from Germany via Tehran to Bangkok years ago. I´d fly with them to SOA immediatelly if reasonable priced and possible again. Its a safe and good airline. Don´t see any issues and obviously everywhere in the world there are people sharing the same hobby and interests when it comes to aviation. Thus: 👍

Thank you Josh for another wonderful adventure. As a United States citizen I could not imagine travelling to Iran. In the current political enviroment. I do agree with you. The government of Iran does not reflect on the people of the country. They truly seemed wonderful. Can't wait for the next episode. Thanks again Josh.

It’s the government that’s bad, not the people, stop sanctioning the people, sanction the leaders, the leaders take away the rights of everyone and threaten other countries, not the people, in no way would it affect nato badly if an Iranian airline got a few new planes.

Lived in Iran in '77 & '78. Yes, it was a very different time but I suspect the people are every bit as warm and friendly now as they were then.
Watched your return trip on Iran Air earlier this morning and I must admit, it was very much the same back in the late 70s albeit, we flew a 727 from Isfahan to Tehran as things were the beginning stages of unravel politically. We spent just one night in a hotel closer to the airport and were awakened to gunfire in the early morning hours with my father being quite motivated to get us home. If I remember correctly, we flew a KLM 747 to JFK?
A further note about the state of affairs in Iran, imagine being sanctioned to the extent these people have been for so many years? Especially after fighting a horrific war with Iraq all throughout the 80s and with such huge loss of life? Imagine further that the only reason the sanctions were put in place is because the 'new' Iranian government refused to play ball with the US gov on oil profits as they finally got tired of being told what they would do, when they would do it and with whom they were allowed to associate with? Yes, it's much, much deeper than that and the history of the Iranian people being either subjugated or enslaved by their neighbors or the West has been long known.
The country itself has immense historical and cultural value, not to mention its resources. The people of Iran were incredibly warm and inviting when I lived there. It's truly a shame that due to current political and religious ideology differences, how western media has portrayed Iran since 1979, AND the way in which Iran's resources were exploited by the West during the 20th century, very few 'outsiders' get to experience this land of incredible history and culture.

Cool story man! I lived there in 1975 as 10 year old (persian dad american mom)...i spoke no farsi but went to a persian school...that was a trip! The people were incredible and I enjoyed my time there. Summers in the Caspian sea, skiing in the mountains, let me tell you about the food...oh boy!!! Even as a kid I sensed growing anti american feelings growing, probably why we came back to the states. I was pretty depressed when I came back and had to readjust to American life as a young teen...but it all worked out.

Hi Josh! This is the first time I commented on a vid of yours (but I've been a subscriber for far longer). I liked this vid and do agree w/ your sentiments about Iran and that kind of situation. I understand. However, it's not the mainstream news media that bears the problem alone. The surge on the global stage of social media bears the brunt of the bigger problem. The irony won't be lost on you that you're part of it. Still, I'm so glad and happy that you're able to keep on doing what you love to do and letting your audience share your "adventures". Keep Smiling always!👌😉👍
