Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, and Stevie Wonder sang at Stevie Ray Vaughan's funeral. Absolutely love ❤❤❤ Jackson. Please 🙏 react to Loadout/Stay live version. Yes, he was born in Germany, his father was in the military 🪖.
His first hit. To commercial though. I thought the greatest song he ever wrote was Take It Easy with Fry and Souther. His version of it imo blows the Eagles version away.
I have been a Jackson Brown fans since the age of 15 growing up in the 70’s. This sounds like Jackson going on his first tour at the age of 21. Shawn look into his Wikipedia page and learn about his greatest hits of music . Two recommendations 1 “Somebody’s Baby” off the movie soundtrack “Fast Times of Ridgemont High” from 1982. 2. “Tender is the Night”. A true banger from the 1990’s. BTW: The guitar solos on this track are freakin crazy 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Good Choice! I remember buying the cassette and playing it as I rose at dawn to drive from Gainesville to Crescent Beach to surf. 'Running on Empty' is the perfect road music. It sure was for me!
This whole album was recorded live. No one went to the restroom like crowds usually do for new songs they haven't heard. I agree The Load-out/ Stay is a great couple of tracks, and they have to be listened to together. Other favorites from Jackson, The Pretender, Red Neck Friend, and Doctor My Eyes. And I have to mention, since no one else has yet, Jackson wrote Take it Easy for the Eagles. Another song you should hear.
Take It Easy was co-written with Glenn Frey and the both recorded it. As you say, Running On Empty is a great album. Although not all 'live' it was live recordings interspersed with recordings made in hotels, on the bus etc.
@@Rolling_Ronnie I forgot they wrote it together. I always think of the Jackson Browne connection whenever I hear the Eagles version. In those days, you couldn't take a studio on the bus with you, so you had to do any recording you did on a bus live. 🙂 I just tried to keep my comment short and not go into all the details.
@@Rolling_Ronnie No problem. I used the smiley face, but my comment still sounds snotty. I was just going for a joke. But the album is pretty cool the way it was recorded. I probably shouldn't abbreviate the story.
This song is timeless. When you do the Jackson Browne song Stay, *be sure to do Get the Load Out/Stay.* These two songs are married. And one does not work without the other.
SOUNDS LIKE YOU'RE GONNA DIG SOME ( JACKSON BROWNE )👍 GREAT SONGWRITER, GUITARIST, PIANO PLAYER 😊 DOCTOR MY EYES, THE PRETENDER, IN THE SHAPE OF A HEART, THERE'S A FEW FOR YOU GIB! AND THERE'S MANYYYY MORE 😊
He still is around. Some of my favorite Jackson Browne songs are The Pretender, The Load Out and Everyman, which he wrote when he was 16, I believe. Take it Easy too, which was made famous by the Eagles. And his disco hit, Somebody's Baby from Fast Times at Ridgmont High.
Jackson Browne is one of the great singer-songwriters of his (my) generation. It would behoove you to have those lyrics ready for the next song whatever it may be. "Doctor My Eyes", "The Pretender", "In The Shape of a Heart" just a few more classic gems from this amazing singer- poet of the classic rock era. I've seen him live twice over the years, and he puts on a pretty damned good show as well. It does appear that he has taken to the road again after a years-long absence. He's getting up there in age now, but it's good to see Jackson back out on the road and doing what he does best for well over half-a-century. Prepare for a few more goosebumpy inspirational moments as you journey down the Jackson Browne rabbit hole. 👍
Jackson Browne, don't forget the "e" on the end, came up in the SoCal music scene of the 70's. His friends in the industry include Linda Ronstadt, Bonnie Raitt, Warren Zevon, Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, David Lindley, Neil Young,..you get the picture. He is a great Singer/Songwriter/Musician, seen him live twice, once on each coast. Favorite song medley by Jackson is The Load Out/Stay. He wrote The Load Out about the roadies. Stay is a cover of a Maurice Williams song. They work perfectly together, you can barely tell the segue when it happens. The live version at the end of the "Running On Empty" album.
Jackson Browne "Running on Empty" Was Album I bought @ 16 when it Came out ! The Other Jackson Browne Song You Must Do ? " The Pretender" Its Quite Sad N Deep" But Remains Upbeat Thanks to Hackson Browne's Anazing Skills
Such a great record! Captures the zietgiest of the times! The studio treatment this record got, made me become a recording engineer! 45 yrs ago! RIP David Lindley. Peace
For your own edification, watch the video of this as a live performance from the late 1970's and your emotional bliss will attain an even higher level when you see how much fun and joy the entire band reveals. Be well.
You've just scratched the surface of Jackson Browne's music which I'm sure is right up your alley. Jackson’s lyrics are great and he’s one of the best singer/songwriters around. His "Fountain of Sorrow" (great vocals, lyrics and one his more introspective songs yet with a catchy beat) is a must song to hear and one of my all-time favorites and you'd be missing something without hearing it.
Jackson Browne...Outstanding songwriter, excellent performer and great hair. I love Jackson and all of his music. So many greats have recorded his songs. The Load Out/Stay is an excellent place to go next with Jackson, do both together, they should be together and to separate them would be an insult to each of them. In the mid 70's Browne's first wife committed suicide leaving him to raise their 2 or so year old son. So Jackson has a lot to draw on when it comes to what it means to be running on empty. Jackson's dad was a U.S. Serviceman stationed in Germany when Jackson was born. When his dad's tour was over they returned to the States.
So many unforgettable tunes during his first five or 6 years of recording. Here are some songs you may want to react to:Fountain of Sorrow : The Pretender: The Load Out/ Stay
Reacting to his song "The Load Out/Stay" would be a great Jackson Browne "next". Bonus with it as you get to hear David Lindley (Mercury Blues) & Rosemary Butler (backup singer for many big names). Just a great song!
@@Malibu1515 I hope he'll get around to it. David was brilliant. They say he was a man who could play anything with strings & had the best polyester wardrobe around. Cheers from Canada!
This came out the first semester of the first year of university for me. Bought the album of the same name. The entire album is a masterpiece. Check out The Load-Out and Stay (recorded as one piece).
If you like Jackson Browne try some songs from his masterpiece 'LATE FOR THE SKY' songs-like. LATE FOR THE SKY, FOUNTAIN OF SORROW, FARTHER ON, THE LATE SHOW, THE ROAD AND THE SKY, FOR A DANCER, and., BEFORE THE DELUGE. All amazing tunes.
He's 75 years old. In the lyrics of this very song, he says, "In "69" I was 21... (years old). He may still occasionally perform very small venues for charity and such, but I doubt he needs the money, and has had his fill of touring, back in in his younger days.
He is still touring. Last year he did a big tour with James Taylor. He also tours this year. He plays The Venetian in Las Vegas today and 4 more over the next few days.
A quintessential aging and wondering where in the heck we're all going song. This hit the radio and record stores at the same time the 19 year old me took a job managing a headshop/record store. It's been with me ever since, and means even more to me now at 65 than it did at 50 and 40 and 20. I'm very glad that you are able to experience some of the connection with this that I have felt. I look forward to your getting around to his songs, The Pretender, and Rock Me on the Water. You're welcome for the community post, by the way. 🙂
You really hit my wheelhouse today I got to see Bonnie Raitt, Linda Ronstadt and Jackson Browne together back in the early 70s . Didn't know how lucky I was but will never forget
This song figured prominently in the movie Running on Empty, which starred River Phoenix. Story was based on Weather Underground, an actual anti establishment group that were fugitives in hiding from the federal government. Good movie. 👍👏👏

"Doctor My Eyes" is a banger hit by Jackson Browne.
Was also a top 10 in England for the Jackson Five and just released in the Song around the World series

BANGGGERRRRR, AND A HUGE HIT OF HIS!😊
My favorite Jackson Browne song is "These Days". I think you would love the lyrics, they inspire a lot of reflection.
Take It Easy, Redneck Friend, Ready or Not are all great off that album too

What a great song, indeed. I ran on empty for a few years. In ‘69 I was 18. What a blessing.
The whole album " late for sky" is at the Smithsonian. It is a masterpiece check that album out
Personally I thought For Every Man was better.
The Smithsonian you say?! LFTS was a good album. Fell asleep to it many a night

Lots of nostalgia with this song - "The Pretender" is also a classic and a favourite of mine. Jackson Browne worked with some great musicians.
Jackson's music is just great. The search for purpose and meaning.

The Load Out/Stay … a few Kleenex on standby, man, a JOYFUL appreciation/homage to his roadies AND his audience. A shiver & a sigh….
This album and Late for the Sky are my favs
I always thought the rhythm of this song evoked the feeling of rolling down a highway.
