Hey sir I am about to start a new youtube show breaking down "Twin Movies" I'd love to have you on as a guest. Let me know if that's something you'd be interested in.
This is so cool! He’s totally into the narrative and meaning of the piece and he totally wants you to know that, but he doesn’t force anybody’s opinion.
The actual camera they have used was a film camera, an arriflex studio 435 on kodak vision3 5219 film stock. One lens was a Zeiss Super Speed, the other lens was an Angénieux EZ-1 Zoom. Btw great analisys!
I agree that it’s a perfect music video and is also like a short film. There are so many layers of meaning and areas of focus you need several rewatches. Even then without context so much goes by some people but everyone comes away with the over all sense of what it means. I love watching reactions to it (this guy didn’t give much away) but in general people are relaxed and bopping and the gunshot snaps them out of it. It’s amazing to see them sit up and realise something else is happening here.
My understanding is that they are all meant to represent black people who were brutalized or killed by police, including Rodney King's 1987 Hyundai Excel. Most of the cars still have their blinkers on as they would've been left after being pulled over.
I think its be in contrast to other music videos. Where the main star of the video is surrounded by luxury cars and women. Whereas here he is surrounded by old 'junk' cars.
No lie I was a little hurt when he didn’t react but as soon as he starting talking and teaching I understood why. He did an awesome job and i understood everything he said. Awesome job!!!!!
If you know the lingo of what he’s talking about this is a really interesting a deep lesson of technics, a lot of film school is just sitting there and breaking it down backwards “how did they do that”
Everyone isn't going to be shocked. That shouldn't expected. Everyone has experienced things in life that'll influence how they see things. Even from a creative point. Just something to keep in mind. Nice to see a film professor break things down. Wasn't boring at all. Thumbs up!
This was really interesting, even though I know nothing about film, I could comprehend a lot of his explanations! I also like that he didn't react while watching, sometimes these reaction videos are so focused on showing us their reaction that the people making them miss important nuances, especially in a video like this. If someone shows me a video or a song and wants to know what I think, I'm immersed in it trying to catch every detail and take it in as a whole as the artist intended. Then I'll go back to parts that I need more clarification on and rewatch/relisten. I'd be a really boring reaction channel, though, I guess.
It really does act more of a short film set to music rather than any old music video. I never thought of it that way before. Guess that's why he's the teacher, huh?
I wish! Sadly the pandemic meant no more classes in person, and then I ended up moving and am sadly no longer one of his students. But if I ever have the opportunity to work with or be mentored by Loomis again, I would be so excited and honored and just honestly overjoyed
May, 24th 2021. Just chiming in to wish you good luck since your should be graduating soon (based on what you said on the video maybe you already graduated!)
Thank you so much 🥺 sadly I ended up not going back after that semester. I have a year left to complete but classes got canceled in person for a semester and by then I had decided to move to another state! I'm hopeful to work with Loomis again in the future one day tho! And I do have plans for film projects in the future although I no longer intend to go into the film industry as a career. Thank you for the well wishes and kindness 💛🧡
Here’s the reality he chuckled because he was already thinking the choir was going to get killed, As a Mexican that has lived in West Virginia for almost 12 years I grew up in white culture and tend to know white humor very well. This is a clear indication of that :). All love one race the Human Race.
Boy, I sure do miss teaching in person. Thanks Cole!
For those saying this professor should make a TH-cam channel, this is him! 😁 Miss you tons Loomis, I think about you often. Hope your doing well 💛

Thank you, Professor, for this! I thoroughly enjoyed every second of it!!! Would love to see more!!!
Wow, you can tell that he was actively analyzing the video, so I can understand his lack of reactions. Seems to be a fantastic professor--I'm jealous!
I've heard a lot of analysis about the messages in the video, but never anything about the filmography of the video - so this was really cool to hear!
You've done a really great service in recording and posting this for other people. Thanks a ton!

Great video!! I’m in this class now lol!!! Loomis a goat
I liked his smiles while watching. He defo appreciated that.
I love that he also made it a teaching moment as well, asking students questions.
I wonder what the symbolism of (so many) cars means in this video
I haven't followed up on it but my Step-Dad said they were all models that used to made in the US but of course are not anymore.

Thank you SO, so much for posting this. It's almost as good as if I was to participate in this class! 🖤
wow he really broke this down...a real professor
Thank you for this video and good luck in your career.
19:15 professor stole my heart! ❤
No lie I was a little hurt when he didn’t react but as soon as he starting talking and teaching I understood why. He did an awesome job and i understood everything he said. Awesome job!!!!!
Oh man i was in film school a couple years ago and this brought me back
If you know the lingo of what he’s talking about this is a really interesting a deep lesson of technics, a lot of film school is just sitting there and breaking it down backwards “how did they do that”
Loved his break down. Thank you for the video!
So I googled who directed the video when the class talked about it. It's Hiro Murai. Of course it's Hiro Murai

Great teacher !!!
I would love to see what he thinks about Gambino's video for Sweatpants! Another brilliant music video!
Would like to see more content like this! Music video cinematography reactions.
Maybe your teacher could do Wardruna - Raido next.

Cool video! I don't know anything about the technical aspect of film, but it was really interesting to me!
great video, loved the break down.
I watched this entire video because it was so interesting
The guy at the beginning playing the guitar is Trayvon Martin's father. EDIT: I did a bit of research, he is NOT his father.
Your smile looks incredible!

That's a really cool concept, loved it ! Felt like being back in my high school film class, I missed it. :) )
Do you plan on doing more of these ? *-*

This video is awesome
That's my former Film teacher Loomis. He made a movie too. Where was this? I doubt this was at the Art Institute
Pima community college in AZ! He's made a few movies now, two released and one unreleased (which was my personal fave tbh)
He’s chilling
It was shot absolutely beautifully

I miss good teachers,
Next time Kendrick Lamar : Alright music video
Not Jordan Peele but still great analysis
Did I miss the break-down of the Jim Crow references? Amongst EVERYTHING ELSE?

I think Donald glover (childish gambino) directed the whole video

Its definitely not jordan peele, theres a resemblance but 100% not him
In the beginning of the video, it's like the choir is singing Kkkkkkkkk go go gooo
I feel like i bothered you by watching this video !😕😕😕
Samuel Loomis??????????????
Its also in India the only difference is brown skin
Is this about you? Or him?

Did he said big hit like with the band BTS or just saying Big hit like litteraly big hit?
😒
This Armys have just 1 brain cell
it is NOT Jordan Peele in the choir... it is a black guy... and he doesn't have much hair.... but he doesn't even really look much ike Jordan Peele.
Not trying to hate, but can you talk fast please
It's a classroom 😑
Ummm... he could if his classroom could process that quickly. He is busy explaining it in a way they would understand.
just speed up the video if you're that impatient
not trying to hate but can you not comment please.
This is such a good video!! Thank you for sharing
