If you're not an experienced seamstress, then use the clips that clip on the side of the fabric. Sewing over pins bends and breaks them. They can get stuck in the mechanism, and fly up and hit you in the eye. Sewing over pins is dangerous and you have the fabric pinned wrong.

This is actually not the easiest way to sew "a bag." A great bag canbe made by taking a rectangle, folding it in half, sewing the sides together, and sewing in corners on the bottom to create depth. Do another rectangle the same way for the lining, then sew those together at the top, with or without handles. There's almost no measuring, no curves to sew around, and the size is easily adjusted simply by increasing or decreasing the size of the rectangles. To make it really simple, omit the lining. Easy peasy.
Help--I see only 1 zipper, half sewn to 1 side & half to the other side (no cut in the center). But, when you put the zipper pull back on, you put on 2 pulls, one starting at each bottom side, and you zip them closed to the almost to the center. So the opening of the bag is in the center & you zip each side to the bottom? Where do you get a 2nd zipper pull but not a separate zipper?

She’s using zipper tape. You can put two pulls going in opposite directions on a single zipper.
