      Mark die you get an answer on this. Acusense colorvu line seems all about night colour quality, and yes its good BUT the purpose of a cctv is to IDENTIFY tue intruder isnt it? Gen 1 is pretty shit about this, lots of blur. Is gen2 any better?

    I noticed when you were switching between the scene settings that the shutter speeds seem rather slow - 1/12 in normal and 1/6 in low illumination. While this shouldn't be an issue if a person detected is stood reasonably still, at those speeds isn't a person walking across the frame or towards a camera at a normal pace going to smear up a bit, making identification tricky?

      do you mind me asking why you like the turret better? im asking because im about to put up cameras in my house id like to know pros and cons. my installer told me the bullet camera can be moved out of position... is there not a way to secure the bullet camera so it can not be moved ?

    • @naamangeist7843
      @naamangeist7843 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cryptoniansavage6643 because of the shape and pivoting mount, they can be manipulated by someone wanting to redirect it's view. Turrets are screwed down in the position you want it pointed and can't be moved without first removing the camera from the surface of the building. The turret is also difficult, if not impossible to get a cord or rope tasseled around it to pull it down, if out of reach.

    • @AbdoZaInsert
      @AbdoZaInsert 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cryptoniansavage6643 I've seen a comment on other vid "I don't like bullet cameras cause the birds sh*t on them"
      I guess it depends on the surface shape tbh, but I would still go for the bullet because ( I think ) it has a psychological advantage over the dome one incase an invader saw it... + it looks better :P

    Hello and thank you for all the value information from your review. i have one question please. I have installed the same camera for a client and I'm trying to adjust the camera settings remotely using Hik-Connect account. i can access the NVR setting but when I chose the Image setting I'm only able to adjust the brightness, contrast and saturation. I can't see the other settings like backlight settings.
    I don't have a physical access to the NVR but because it's in a different city.

      Think I just found the answer to my question, it appears that the sensor in the 8MP version is a lot bigger (1/1.2") then the one in the 4MP version (1/1.8") which probably results in the same amount of light entering the sensor...?

      the default exposure setting on the colorvu is already set to the optimum 1/12 , you can make it 1/25 which still performs well but can loose some of the brightness , but reduce some motion blur effects of fast moving objects, again WDR could be used at that setting of 1/25 and it does lighten the image but I don’t like the effect personally of the WDR being enabled for night time use

      The contractor was most likely referring to vandals. Bullets are easier to force off location or even pull off the wall, as they are easily tasseled with a rope or cable if too high to reach and even easier if within reach. Domes and turrets have a rounded profile so a rope will simply fall off and the vandals won't be able to get leverage.

    I installed this model yesterday and the image quality at night is just amazing! It would be 'nifty' if we can turn on the LED's when motion is detected.. Now it only has manual mode or auto depending on the clarity but it would be awesome if we can control the LED's as a motion linkage.. Keep on dreaming?

    In another Review of ColorVu Cameras I just heard the following statement:
    "The lower the resolution the easier it is to fill up the image sensor with light"
    So the 2MP would do better in very low light situations then the 4MP and the 8MP cameras...
    ( th-cam.com/video/NGHDrEnEZWA/w-d-xo.html )
    Is that correct in your opinion? Can one see/feel the difference? Maybe worth a test in a future video...? ;)

    • @ILruffian
      @ILruffian 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes. For a given physical size of the sensor, lower MP will always equal better low light performance. Most Hik cams have a sensor that is usually 1/1.8" in size. The lower the MP per square inch/mm of the actual sensor, the more photos of light can be captured per MP. This equals better low light performance *with all other things being equal*.

      @@CGDreamsTutorials Yes, assuming the the physical sensor size and all other factors stay the same. I will say this from lessons learned during my time as a police detective... If the low light performance of any of the modern Hiks is an problem, visible lighting is a higher priority in your security plan than cameras. Always take a shot at deterrence over good video.
