I like the blade shape and the flipper tab. The handle shape, specifically the pommel is a no go as an actual using knife. It needs to be rounded for a palm assist, or thumb over, etc.
Just got mine, my first ZT. Love the GTC and the knife in general. great quality, beautiful design. I have a BB Raven (I like SF stuff) and must say the build quality is equel if not better. And for 100 Euro's less than the Raven.
Another great informative video Sir. Is it possible the tab could catch your pants or the inside of the pocket and want to deploy? May seem far fetched, ay? I do like the look and dimensions though. Thank you for posting this!
I just received a blue-anodized production model from Blades We Love. Got an incredible deal at 20% off.I just Love this Knife, but I understand that it is not for everyone. I love this fun solution to allow the flipper "tab" to magically disappear. ZT did a great job at incorporating the spring tab...really cool!!! This knife fits great into a collection with its unique design and compound grind. I love the fact the ZT took all the chances to create this knife and bring it to market.
Really wish the ergos on this were better. Got mine second-hand from a friend, but ended up reselling it. That blade is beautiful, and I love the dual-purpose grind. Thicker bte toward the base, thinner btw toward the tip. The tip-half would be excellent for those drag cuts, while the base-half would be excellent for cutting through tough materials (copper wire, thick rubber, etc). If only they'd paid, well... pretty much any attention to designing the handle to be comfortable in the hand.
The pocket clip holes on the presentation side detract from the otherwise clean lines in my opinion.I have one on preorder and your great review has me anxious.Always nice to have a new knife to look forward to. Thanks.
Whats the after market price of the 0055, if there is even an after market. i missed out on the discounted price of $175 that Amazon was running around xmas.
The secondary market is always less expensive for production knives. I haven't followed the specific prices, but you might be able to find one for about that price, used, on the knife forums.
I was wondering if you know of a dealer who sells custom anodized zt0055. I've seen some on the internet but can't seem to find the dealer/maker who does the anodizing. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
When I first saw the graphic photos of these, I did not really like it. But, now that I have seen actual photos and videos of the knife and its' action, I really want one. However, like all ZT knives, I will wait until they are available on the secondary market. I hate MAP pricing and that is my way of dealing with it!
Looking at the clip I feel they can maybe bend the tip at an angle more to better follow the angles of the frame. It doesn't seem to flow with it well. I wouldn't mind paying extra for a machined one.
Pick your poison: Having the flipper stick out and be a very slight hazard in your pocket, assuming you have a big proper detent or Having no flipper acting as a guard for your fingers in the open position
Normal thinly ground blade please and less milling on the handles, or something.. organic. Hate the space age look on knives. The tab action is something i want though.
How it cuts what, specifically? The difficulty is that different knives with perform differently depending on the material cut. I've been trying to find a way to standardize this type of cut test, but am not sure of what material could be standardized without doing a ton of rope cuts. Most seem to feel that paper cuts are also useless. Do you have any specific ideas?
Just pre-ordered. Can't pass up for that money, though I wish it was a bit better steel. Are you bothered by having nothing keeping your fingers from slipping down over the blade? Price of style I guess. It's a cutter, not a stabber ;)
Only thing for me is the actual tab itself. I feel that it sticks out in a bad way, not sure why they made is cylindrical and black instead of the minimalist design Gus has where it's flat and blends in nicely with the body. Kind of an eyesore to an otherwise impeccable design. Also the stonewashed blade... always gotta bag on it, just think it's lazy. Nobody is actually gonna pick this as a hard user and beat on it with the blade shape it has. Cutting cardboard and opening packages is the most work 99.99% of them will see so a nice sating or something would've better served it to me.
DrakeDragonheart I'm curious on why the hole on the flipper tab. I'll probably snag one of these locally. Zt has been a bit boring or safe and I not sure if I'll buy another zt after this. I think the customizers will do some nice things with this.
I can't be the only one that thinks this thing is ugly as all hell. I do really like the new mechanism. And even if I don't like the blade, I still love hearing your review. Thanks.
I don't post very often on here but wanted to say how much I love your video reviews. Always straight to the point. No bs or drama. Much appreciated.
Appreciate that, always happy to hear the videos are of some value, at least to some.
I really enjoyed getting to try this at Blade with you. Thanks for letting me see it! I'm excited to pick one up and see how it is over time.
Nice review! Looking forward to see the comparison video between the proto and the production.
This is the only ZT on my list this year and the only GTC I'll ever own 😥
In the same boat on a GTC...

Dogger is absolutely correct
I love the double click sound you get when deployed because of the flipper tab

I've wanted this thing since the moment I saw it. this is a must have for me

Lol.......another one I NEED in my collection!!!!!! Man what a FREAKING COOL KNIFE!!!!!!! So darn cool!!!!!!!!!
I was wondering if the frame lock has a hidden over travel stop built inside?
Not crazy about the blade shape but everything else is amazing.
speterj yea I might've picked one up if it weren't for the compound grind.
When does this ZT0055 get released to the public?
Couple weeks
thanks for the prompt reply. is the knife worth the listed price?
BigBear83
For $220 street, it's a no-brainer
I might be putting a 0562 up for sale when this knife is more available
I really wish they would have integrated the lanyard hole in a more subtle way. It throws off the clean lines on this beauty.
I thought the same thing. Blue hardware would be nice too.
koalapear true but they could have improved on the original design like the they did with the tab. Still getting one though
The pocket clip holes on the presentation side detract from the otherwise clean lines in my opinion.I have one on preorder and your great review has me anxious.Always nice to have a new knife to look forward to. Thanks.
Really excited about this one. Thanks for the sneak peek.
This was the only way I was getting a GTC design knife and I am very happy with it. IIt helps when you can get it on sale, too.

ESB- Very unique knife. I'm sure it will do well.
I think a double distal taper is still more practical, but compound grinds sure do look better.
How did you start getting into the knife review world? You do a great job.
Pick your poison:
Having the flipper stick out and be a very slight hazard in your pocket, assuming you have a big proper detent
or
Having no flipper acting as a guard for your fingers in the open position
True
Love the SLT tab, but is it on any knives that don't have a bent edge?
This is the only production knife the SLT is on so far. It will be a while before we see it on another knife, but it will happen at some point.
Thanks, ESB. I can wait.
what is this knife useful for?can anyone tell mr pls as I am desperate to know
Cutting things
very interesting video and very interesting knife. It is one I will be checking out.
How/where did you pick it up?
will pick one up when blade steel gets upgraded and bronze ti handles.
i want this blade i think l hope its not 220$ junk? looks kickass blade.
Nice video
wish the slt system was more hidden like his customs
What's your opinion on balisongs?
Love them, spent many a week in high school with overly bandaged fingers.
I have the same knife will it be worth money one day
Doubtful
Rerally like the action!
Normal thinly ground blade please and less milling on the handles, or something.. organic. Hate the space age look on knives. The tab action is something i want though.
How about some discussion as to how the knife cuts???? Nothing on how it performs on everyday tasks.
How it cuts what, specifically? The difficulty is that different knives with perform differently depending on the material cut. Ergos are pretty good, don't feel like I'm going to slip. But I'm also not battoning with it, so there's that. haha
Like the idea. Too bad itès been discontinued as of 2023. Like to see a company innovate. Why do companies kill off sought after knives e.g. 801Ti...
needs to be in a action moive this blade saving some ones life.😀
I am in love.
I'm really late hear 5yrs, but isn't there some strong resemblance to a sinkovench drunken
So cool.

Gus referred to the cylindrical SLT as an improvement over his own design. Side by side, in hand, it would be apparent as to the change.
DrakeDragonheart I'm curious on why the hole on the flipper tab. I'll probably snag one of these locally. Zt has been a bit boring or safe and I not sure if I'll buy another zt after this.
I think the customizers will do some nice things with this.
change the blade style, steel and handle design and i'm in.
cyphersuit1 so you don't want a GTC design. Lol
WatchReport.com ;)
I cant tolerate this knife!
yes it is gpks.i like it want one
👍👍👍😎
220$ not bad l like it .
It looks like a solid knife, just doesn't appeal to me though
That thing is ugly beyond belief. And I want one so damn bad, haha. Thanks for the review- love your channel.
Pugs are ugly, but people love that about them. Hope you snag one!
To me the 0550 looks like a racing Greyhound, aerodynamic and sleek with performance to match.
I just put in my order for one.
Great review ESB!
I can't be the only one that thinks this thing is ugly as all hell. I do really like the new mechanism. And even if I don't like the blade, I still love hearing your review. Thanks.
You're not...but you didn't hear that from me!!! lol And I'm getting one!!!
Sorry, SLT.
I NEEED IIIITT
The blade looks like it came from outer space .a alien drop it off.😁its a killer badass go cut something.
