The movie is actually a lot more similar to the book than the show
This Jace is very accurate to the Jace in the first book attitude wise. But I feel like the Jace in the show acts more like the Jace in the rest of the series.
I actually liked that Institute wasn't full of Shadowhunters. From what I remember from the book, Shadowhunters were a dying breed. There was too few of them left. And the Institute was mostly used as a hotel for traveling Shadowhunters.
This movie is closer to the book- Clary’s only supposed to be 15 and the institute is supposed to be empty. Also, a lot of Jace’s lines that you don’t like are direct quotes
Actually, if I remember correctly (it had been a while since I've read the books) the Magnus/alec thing wasn't really happening in the first book. They changed that in the show. (I love that they changed that, but still, they changed that)
Do not disrespect the great Magnus Bane by saying he has SERPENT EYES! They're cats eyes!!!
Watch the umbrella academy, it’s got Robert Sheehan (simon) and it’s such a good show

Actually it’s a little more accurate to the books
I honestly feel like if he had seen the movie first before the show he would have liked it a lot more than he did because I feel like because he has seen the show he spends more time kinda comparing the characters in the movie and the series than actually just able to really enjoy it. But still loved the reaction 😊💜
I remember when the series first got out on how the story would divert from the books made me appreciate this movie more but this is of course coming from the point of view of someone who read the books first.
I actually really prefer the movie to the series but maybe that’s just me
actually, the characters in the film are very much "book accurate", for better or for worse
The Malec is true to the books, and since it's not a spoiler, Magnus is interest in Alec because Alec looks like Will, an ancestor of Jace, and he's fascinated by that. They even gave us more Malec in the movie than the first book has, by adding the scene where Magnus heals Alec. Though in the books Alec also makes a remark that peaks Magnus's attention even more.
Honestly, I agree with you on most points. I really didn't like this movie when it came out. Even though it was a lot more faithful to the book than the show, the acting threw me off SO MUCH. I was cringing, I almost left the movie theater at the time lol Rewatching it, I think a lot of it was due to poor writing of the characters, it just didn't translate well trying to follow the book's pace in a 2 hour-movie format. Even if the show has MAJOR discrepancies to the books, I came to like it a lot better
If there was a City of Heavenly Fire film it'd be amazing. Or maybe Queen of Air and Darkness that'd be sick.
You make fun of Jace's lines, but those came actually from the books so... xD
