@Spooky Spectre i think the argument is mostly about the fact all cops have to arrest/fine people for victimless crimes like minor drug related offences and such, which is completely reasonable IMO. But a lot of cops really don't enjoy that part of the job, it's just something they have to do in the current system if they want to be the guys responsible for keeping people safe from murderers, robbers etc. Too many people are just unwilling to have a dialogue across the aisle and try to understand what motivates cops in the first place.

Not that they will start to avoid you, but you'll get do sick of hearing about all the bad cops (all of them) they had dealings with, and that they will expect you to agree with them. I was down in Charleston before and after BLM. For many of the small shops and restaurants having their front glass smashed was the last straw for their business esp with few tourists on the horizon. The police were told not to intervene one store owner said.

He has tons of experience with some of the hardest jobs on this earth. Donut won’t wait for life he make life wait for him. He has friends that trust and care for him, he wants as much experience as he can possibly get with his time on this earth. Guys we need to be a lot like donut to enjoy life and don’t let one bad experience or person shut you down, we have limited time on this earth make the seconds count.

As a retired L.E.O. if I have a chance to talk to people that is thinking about getting into L.E., one of the first things I tell them is, be prepared to loose all of your friends. Not that they will start to avoid you,
but you'll get do sick of hearing about all the bad cops (all of them) they had dealings with, and that they will expect you to agree with them.
You'll eventually start avoiding them.
Then you'll hang around nothing but other officers, because it's "them against us". But then you'll start making friends that know your an officer and they don't think anything about it.
Then you'll retire and avoid everyone, because you finally will be able to spend time with you family, instead of working all those sucass off duty jobs.

Officers have used an extreme amount of ‘discretion’ every single time I’ve been pulled over and only because I was respectful and honest. Michigan State troopers are honestly some of the coolest people I’ve come across. I have never met a ‘bad cop.’
