What a beautiful showcasing of the CN in Iowa!! That Iowa Northern & CN Tanker with the SD75s were my personal favorites! The undulating countryside makes the railroad here that much more scenic. Awesome video! 😊
My dad had a good friend who was wallace yard master for IC and later Chicago Central in the 80s. Used to get cab rides from wallace to Mendota and a lot of interlocking tower time. ❤
@@bnsf7562 It really is! The Dubuque sub always been my favorite stretch of railroad in Iowa. At least 565 is always a reliable evening Westbound between Dubuque and Manchester, especially during the longer days of the year.
@@bnsf7562 was a lot heavier when they got a lot of run through stuff off the UP had a whole train off them once a day had disappeared with the merger of CNW &UP
Ironically, I too shot that 565 with 5261 leading those five tanks, that was probably the worst 565 chases I have ever done. I only was able to shoot them at Epworth, Dyersville, and 205th Ave, Manchester. It is not really an easy chase when they fly at 50 the whole way.
There was a repaving project on the one road east of Manchester that really slowed me down on that portion of the line. One of the reasons why the eastern portion of this video was so underrepresented. Thanks for looking!
You should head further north to Mason City, Iowa and watch the Union Pacific, Canadian Pacific, Iowa Northern, and the last electrified railway IATR interchange

The J SD looks be switching 571 out of the inbound 338.
Wow! Forgot the CN had a main across northern Iowa until I realized they got it when buying IC and with it the ex-IC/ICG/CC main.
It's a really photogenic line, especially between Waterloo and Manchester. I wish there was more traffic on it.

Cn runs 4 to 8 trains a day down the line between Omaha and Chicago

Did my eyes trick me, or was that an SD45?
It's a modified SD40-2. One of 2 CN did back 2012
