Thanks for the great video. Same exact problem with Monterey 180, seems all the different manufacturers sourced similar fasteners. I will be tackling this repair this winter!
Regis Thornton For my first cut with the router, what guide did you use for the depth. Did you use the bolt length and adjusted the router bit for that depth? Or is it that the depth of the old Ply-wood can be seen?
Hello! My cover cracked on one side, the plywood broke. What would be your advice on tackling the repair. Is this easily fixable or should I have a pro do it and what should they charge me. Thanks for your time!
Easy would be a stretch, sounds like you'd have to totally remove the upholstery, and hope it was in good enough shape to re-staple onto new plywood which you'd have to shape carefully. Unless you're game to dig into it seems like a marine upholstery shop would be the best bet, labor intensive so won't be cheap.
Turned out well, no other issues. Don't scrimp on the size of the repair block, but what I used shows no sign of problems. Replace with stainless hardware and it should last.

Same issue 2007 Larson SENZA
Great job sir, too bad mine was completely rotted away all along rear end including 1ft piano hinge area.
Great video! Got same problem saw what I thought was wood rot but now I know where the metal rust is coming from. Thanks!

Love this video, having the same problem. What thickness wood did you use for the patch?
Is that cover still holding up?
Still the same, no additional issues.
So glue is strong enough to allow the deck lid to hinge properly without your new wood separating from the old wood?
Yup glue is stronger than the wood itself. It's a judgement call how much overlap to have but this has worked well

Nice video I have the same problem and this is exactly what I was looking for as far as repair. How was the final result any problems or tips
