    This is part 3 of my 5th Generation Toyota Hilux build. I’m just an average guy in a shed trying to make it happen. There will be mistakes and victories. I’m determined to see it through. Happy watching Hilux fans.
    5 years ago I wrecked my dream car. My L67 Hilux. This is the story of the rebuild. Follow me as I rebuild my LN106 Toyota Hilux with a supercharged L67 motor. The LN106 is a 5th generation Toyota Hilux sold in Australia. It was sold 1988-1997. We call it a dual cab but globally it is known as a double cab long body. The LN106 should be similar to RN106, N80, N90, N100, N110, VN105 & YN100 of the years 1988. 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997. It is similar to Hilux Surf, 4Runner and Hilux Pickup. Please let me know in the comments if I've missed any model numbers or got anything wrong.

    That tire that had alot of weights, should have turned the tire with the heavy spot to the valve stem, this can help reduce the number of weights being used on a heavy spot.

    license plate is tough. Wondering how this gen hilux is as a daily driver. Here in Canada its quite hard to find a double cab so I'd be looking at the Hilux Surf which is called 4Runner here

    • @SUPERCHARGEDHILUX
      @SUPERCHARGEDHILUX  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks mate! It's great as a daily, a little gutless for the wide-open roads. There isn't much the 2.8L naturally aspirated diesel can do against a headwind. Won't be an issue once the supercharged motor goes in. We had the Hilux Surf and the 4Runner here. They looked very similar but the 4Runner had a V6 while the surf had a diesel. The back of these flex very well. The front was IFS. Some people did a solid axle swap on them. That's a bit of effort!

    Nice bro!!! When you did your 2” body did you have to extend your driving column or anything?
    Thanks

    • @SUPERCHARGEDHILUX
      @SUPERCHARGEDHILUX  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No need to extend the steering column with a 2" but if you go 3" you need an extension.

    hi when you put the 33s on does front wheels hit underneath when turning and going up guter at same time... and whats involed in a two inch lift ... have you lifted the body or just suspenion

    • @SUPERCHARGEDHILUX
      @SUPERCHARGEDHILUX  ปีที่แล้ว

      It does scrape a little bit, doing exactly what you said. While turning and hitting a bump. I will hammer the guards back a little bit. There is a good inch or two that you can tap the fender back. If you don't hammer it back, you can let the wheels hammer it back for you 😆 A 2" body lift is easy. Just 8 blocks to slide in between the cab and the chassis. You can do it at home. Definitely worth watching some videos about how to do it. You could avoid installing a 2" body lift if you go for option 1... just hammer the guards back where the mudflaps are attached.

      Sounds like a cool conversion.
      The rear axles is from an extra cab hilux they are 3" wider and bolt straight in. The front axle is standard but the hubs have a 'wide track' converson to make them 3" wider.

    • @SUPERCHARGEDHILUX
      @SUPERCHARGEDHILUX  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They fit pretty easily but under full bump while turning they scrub. You can either take to the guards with a hammer or wait for the tyres to pean the guards yourself. It doesn’t ruin the appearance from the side

    what lift will i need to fit 33s on bro..i got 33s on my ln65 went to put them on my ln106 and they rub the fuck out my gaurds..will a 2inch body lift be enough or do u need suspension lift too?

    • @SUPERCHARGEDHILUX
      @SUPERCHARGEDHILUX  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A 2" body lift will help and is fine around town but even a 3" body lift and 2" spring lift won't stop the scrubbed at full lock when flexing. The truck right now is just a 2" body lift. As you can see it's already pretty tall. No desire to go taller. The springs are a replacement for the originals there doesn't look like a lift kit there. Yes mine scrubs at the moment at full lock under flex. I'll let you know if I decide to use a hammer to peen the guards or move the diff forwards 1"

      The bigger tyres did make it a touch slower but it's far better off road. Once the supercharged L67 is installed it will be fine. I chose 33" rather than 35" so that it still stops and turns nicely.
