    I like how you expanded the adjuster all the way out to install the pre-assembled shoes

    Also, when you changed the brake shoes in this video, THREE important steos were missed;
    1. The 6 lubrication points were not cleaned & re-lubricated
    2. The self-adjusting ratchet was not reset to a shorter length to accommodate the new shoes.
    3. MOST IMPORTANT, the bearing hub nut was not Torqued using a torque wrench. Should be set at around 175 ft-lbs.

      Couldn't believe the torque setting wasn't given out, I watched this video specifically to find out the torque setting for the hub ! So ended up having to watch another video to get the correct information required to complete the job properly.

      @@Colin623If you had read all the comments, I listed the torque at 175 ft/lbs.

    Pulled mine apart after watching this, unpleasant surprise, my brakes are completely different, re-assembly instructions completely different.
    Wow, lucky I have been rebuilding drum brakes for over 40 years, still took me 4.5 hours, although I did change slave cylinder and wheel bearing, but most of the time was in 4 reassembles of the brake shoes. Damb

      In general, the replacement will be similar, the only thing that may differ slightly in the design features of your car.
      You can find more information in the technical documentation for your car repair.

    • @autodocuk
      @autodocuk  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you for your comment!
      Scrolling the spacer gear, we adjusted the pads so that their friction part fits snugly against the working surface of the drum, however, the drum itself rotates freely without any effort.

      I thought that they are called shoes, not pads 🤔🤔🤔

  • @chrisclark1072
    @chrisclark1072 ปีที่แล้ว

    You need to torque the spindle nut, using an impact will ruin the bearing in the drum

    Its an ok video. Just wish they showed how the automatic self adjuster works. I'm working on a 2015 Micra. Trying to adjust (tighten up) the brakes. I have brakes apart, I have the adjuster in my hands and I cannot figure out how to manually operate it to tighten brakes. Ive worked on cars for 30 years and this Nissan product has me stumped!

      Hardly a great video when the most important piece of information was missing ! and what was that ? torgue settings for the wheel hub, too tight and the bearing would be knackered, too loose and the hub could be damaged, either way not good enough.

    Note to Micra owners , when, after 220,000 km I decided to replace the rear brakes on my Micra ( showed very little wear ) I came across a broken shoe spring , that little one one the bottom. May have been broken from the factory , it was really badly worn from just floating around in there . Anyway ,if you live many miles from a dealer or auto supply store, after you take off the brake drum, make sure all the parts are there and in good shape . I'm 260km from nearest dealer so I was without a car for a few days till I got a ride to the dealer, and a ride back . Front brakes were changed at 200,000km , wore some, but not bad for 125,000 miles of mostly twisty,up and down, sharp corners mountain highways . Average gas mileage over the 220,000 km works out to 49.6 miles per gallon . Good luck with your new brakes .ps. it's a 2015 model, bought brand new in fall of 2014.

    Figured it out. Both self-adjusters were seized amd would not turn. Absolute junk parts. This should not happen. Its a safety issue.

    This video isn't well made. Some annoying background music; complete silence from maker; video sometimes focus on the maker photo rather than showing the work; everything is done very fast and lacks details. This looks like some manufacturers ads rather than being informative. Absolute nonsense!
