      Hi Rich,
      Could you tell me which trails these were please? They seem really smooth compared to the videos of the verderers trail. I was supposed to take my wife in may, hoping to go in September, she's fairly nervous and on a hardtail.

    • @AndyRidesTrails
      @AndyRidesTrails 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@AndyTheBluesHarp the trails they went down were Countdown and Launchpad. They're really good fun trails perfect for beginners! Countdown starts at the top of the fireroad climb where the other downhill trails are and it leads into launchpad near the bottom!

    This video really hits home for me. My wife and I (she’s 48 and I’m 50) started mountain biking again last year. She has had a full knee replacement and I’ve had surgery on both feet. We have lost a combined 180 pounds. It is literally the best thing we ever did. Just remember to check with your Dr to make sure your heart is strong enough then start slow and work your way up. It’s addicting and makes you feel amazing. Just remember the fun begins when the tires leave the pavement. I would love to see more on Rich’s dad progressing on his MTB journey. GMBN may have a new presenter.

    Rich, that was one of the most enjoyable videos I've watched for a while, I can so relate to it. My Old Man actually got me into MTB, and he was 76 (I was 50 and still trying to injure myself/race BMX) at the time. Since then, most of the extended family from 10yo to 55yo have got on board. Its fantastic to be able to show everyone, what a great sport this is, no matter what age. Dad turns 79 this year and even though his wrists are stuffed, (and he cheats now with an ebike, kidding), he tries ro ride at least 3 times a week. LEGEND!

    Fair play to your dad, for an MTB beginner, he did well. I'm in my 40's, and just getting back into it, after a 12 year absence, and it's not as easy as it looks. But it does look like great fun, and I'm inspired by your dad. But I'm going into it pretty much blind, without any tuition. Finding my balance on a bike again is the trickiest part so far. But there is much more to learn.

    Way to go dad I'll be 70 in two months and i just started mountin biking two months ago.I'm having a blast . You look like you can pic it up fast just keep at it.Today i had my first two crashes , i hit front wheel first climbing over a two foot bit and went over the handlebars onto my face but came out all right.And i looped out doing a manual landed on my back .Didn't get hurt and i did learn from it I hope. Anyway good for you my friend keep at it, we don't have to get crazy like the kids but we can still have lots of fun.

    Genuinely loved this, super genuine. One of the best videos from GMBN in a while. No promotion, not plugging, just good clean family fun.

    I bought my first used rigid MTB at 59. A hardtail at 60. Trees in the way were the biggest obstacle.

    Really enjoy watching GMBN videos and this one is my favorite. You and your dad need to do more videos together. I am 66 and getting back into mountain biking after 31 years. So this really struck close to home. Keep up the great job and thanks for all the information you provide.

    I loved this video, especially as a 62 year old who bought a Trek this year. Despite my self-doubts(too old) ,i found your channel and thought , perfect, this is the way to learn and practice. It has helped tremendously. Dad is an absolute good sport , and watching and listening to the two of you put a permanent grin throughout the video. Well done and thanks for the encouragement. Hopefully, more of the older generation will come out of the closet and jump on a mountain bike,thanks to you and dad! Yes we can!

    As a 50 yr old sometimes mountain biker, kudos to you and your dad for reminding us all that it’s not just for EWS stars, and that you can start ( or restart) anytime. Now is the best time to start mountain biking!

    Crap and I thought I was doing well starting at 61 but that old codger topped me at 62, er 64!
    Really great video and especially the message that (other than death and dismemberment) it really isn't too late. Thanks boys!

    Brought both a smile and a tear to me this vid! Dad was 65 when we rode MTB together for the first time (was 6 years ago). He he'd been a roadie for years, at the time he was clocking around 70km a week so pretty fit and quite able to ride...
    Discovered two things by the end of the ride (did a 'purple' at Swinley). Firstly, his ability to grind for hours was never in doubt, but his ability to gas it up a steep embankment was a bit lacking. But the funniest discovery was his neck at the end of the ride - He literally couldn't twist it any more once we'd got home. Apparently roadies don't have to do lots of corners!!!
    RIP Dad... (his neck did get better, the brain tumour another thing...)
