I just discovered this singer tonight. If I had to choose the best modern recording of this song, it would be by Gianni Raimondi. It is both beautifully sung and extremely lyrical, but if I had to choose a 2nd best, it would definitely be this one. The force and passion of the singing combined with a deep, rich voice ala Del Monanco makes this an A+ recording.

non comprendo perchè ogni volta che si ode una splendida interpretazione si debba subito correre ai commenti: "il migliore di tutti, meglio di questo meglio di quello"...sono tantissimi gli artisti ad esser stati bravi e sopratutto "unici" nello stile interpretativo nell'arco di piu di un secolo...personalmente ammiro gli artisti che hanno l'unicità e non la conformità di stile per il resto i paragoni sono inutili quanto la bassa tifoseria..
Pudo ser mas facil...de acuerdo... la pesa, la oscurece... claro que el aria tiende a llevar al cantante a ahcerlo pues va recogiendo notas desde la parte grave del tenor (mi) al principio. Pero la maestria es dominar el aria y no ser dominado. La sacó de pura voz, pero cuando pasen los años, si sigue haciendo lo mismo dudo que llegue a cantar esta aria en tono. Mas facil? Escuchar a Miguel fleta o Franco Corelli

My Dad picked him out years ago. Seems Salvatore was singing certain times when he wanted to, but enjoyed the place at home a lot.
