      That's why these videos are for educational purposes. Unfortunately when someone from the west is going to a country in Afrika , a lot of the reactions (even towards us) was exactly that... regardless if they see different on Social media now, its like we have been brainwashed. Ghana was the place that had the dirt roads, huts, villages etc .. which we found beautiful!!

      In all honesty I think we was expecting South Africa to be like West Africa. That was it x

    • @mwapek
      @mwapek 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @Aluthando Bottoman what you and I are talking about are two completely different arguments. And yes of course, yours is extremely valid! My point is that the western world thinks Africa as a whole is not developed or educated or advanced and it comes with a superiority complex, where they think they’re better than us. And to be more blunt, it’s even worse with Black western folks. Yes, poverty exists! There is an immense imbalance in the social class, globally and South Africa is a great example of it. My point however, is that we’re not that stereotype of “Africans” riding on lions and elephants and living in dirt because we are incapable of advancing with the rest of world. Because again, that mindset created comes with a “we’re better than them” because “they have less” when we have built and done great things in the country simultaneously. It just feels like an insult that’s all I’m saying. And it’s not directed at this precise video, my comment was targeted towards ignorant comments that are made about Africa as a whole. The hut comment was just triggering for me. And also the fact that in 2021, people still think Africa is a country and not a continent. That’s the kind of ignorance I’m frustrated by.

    • @mwapek
      @mwapek 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Aluthando Bottoman again, this is not the point of my argument. You’re going even further bringing up points unrelated to what I’m trying to say. I don’t think you even understand where I’m coming from. I’m not disputing that poverty doesn’t exist! Or that there aren’t people suffering. I never said that. Bathong! Re-read my statement.

    Am from Zambia, Africa. I got shocked, one day the western media showed a video of my country. They showed huts, a desert , camels, donkeys and I was like we don't have any of that! Huts in RURAL areas, yes but not Camels! A desert! Never seen a desert in my life! Our capital city, Lusaka is pretty much like as modern as Johansburg as well. I live in an apartment not a hut. It's true the media always goes for the worst looking places in our country to show the world. Shame.
