  • A round-table discussion with show runners from VCFs across the country. They talk about the ups and downs of producing a VCF, and attendees ask questions of the panel guests.

This was a great chance to learn more about some of the folks behind the scenes. Thanks to all the showrunners who help make these events happen for us!

48:20 - This happened at VCF East 2022. Andy and Jeff had pulled two Adam's out of museum storage so that Jeff Piepmeier could work on the Adam FujiNet hardware. We were hard at work Saturday afternoon trying to get the initial breadboard circuit working (built out of a pair of transistors, a resistor or two, etc.).
Jeff had bought an oscilloscope from a vendor across the room, and he had hooked it up, looking at the screen, with me looking at the logic analyzer output in PulseView, with us trying to figure out why the circuit wasn't working.
A 20-something year old kid walks by, and is staring at the oscilloscope screen, and then he looks down at our breadboard, and repeats this a few times. He's taking it in. He talks to Jeff, and once he had enough information, he suggested some resistor values, and walked away.
Donkey Kong Jr. was booting over the network roughly 5 minutes later.
(As an aside, the kid was an engineer at Raytheon)

A consistent theme I am seeing here, is the complete silence from all things mainstream, and the fact that this culture is growing and thriving (one might say) in spite.
