Lord of the Rings trilogy and Gladiator. I find it impossible to rank one over the other. God movies used to be so good until woke culture found a way to ruin everything around 2015 roughly. I can’t think of a single truly brilliant movie that’s been released in the last 10-15 years.
I come here now and then to rinse my eyes of the disappointment on TV nowadays. And be reminded that it used to be great and there’s hope. 23yrs later this masterpiece remain glorious to be rewatched over and over again ⚔️
After two decades it's still relevant, awe inspiring and phenomenal by many aspects ! Respect to Ridley Scott 🙏🏾 and the entire Star Cast ! Especially Russell Crowe and Joaquine Phoenix
A really good movie and Russell Crowe deserved his Oscar. I liked that the film was as close as possible to history. Marcus Aurelius was indeed thinking about restoring the Republic (he wrote about it). Commodus died in a battle with a gladiator (rumor was that he was the son of a gladiator!). And the gladiators are well presented. Of course there was no Maximus general ....
this movie drips with tragedy, like the historian, Victor Davis Hanson’s The Classicist said life is tragic. It’s not a melodrama. I think that’s why this movie is so relatable.
Can't believe that it's 23 years ago that this epic film came out in the cinema, saw it at the cinema and was struck down by the visual aspect (especially seeing the great city of ancient Rome)
i love that contrast until 3:55 he is like a killing machine and after that transition it shows his vulneribility and where he gains his power(his soul).

He just replies "I have only one more life to take and it is done". Maximus was a man with a plan. He planned everything out to a tee. I also love how every character has something important to say, from Hagen to Juba, to Lucius, to Lucilla, to Quintus, to Commodus, to Cicero, Proximo, and Marcus Aurelius.
I've read everyones comment here. To the the fathers mothers and sons and daughters, you all are already just as brilliant. All you need do is act on your intuitions and beliefs. It is okay to do so because there is already an army in your favor. Follow your heart.
When I first rented this movie at the blockbuster located in Minnesota, I know it since I first saw the box BHS era, that it was a masterpiece of a movie. I took it home and it was one of the best films I ever saw.
Salute Kudos to this great movie Gladiator I watched it again n again n again n its never boring as if its new to me everytime theres new inspiration and insights for me! The other two movies at par with it for me is the Kingdom of Heaven and Troy! I like the character of Proximo the Stoic Gladiator handler He said and I qoute before his Gladiators fight in the Colesseum where he once fought; Ultimately were all deadmen, sadly we cannot choose how, but we can decide how to meet that end as men! I'd like to believe that our next president will be Maximus 2024 because we've seen the courage and sacrifice only for "THE PEOPLE" of modern day ROME. "What we do in life echoes an eternity". Rome's greatest General.

This was a love letter to an incredible film. I was raptured by the sequence of scenes and and the overall message, truly inspiring.
