৭১ এর আগে তারা সেদেশে চলে যান রুটি রুজির জন্য। আসলে তাদের অধিকাংশই ছিলেন দরিদ্র পরিবারের সদস্য। তখন মাত্র ৮০ টাকা দিয়ে জাহাজের টিকেট কেটে করাচী চলে গিয়ে সে দেশের দিকে দিকে ছড়িয়ে পড়েন তারা। এদেশে আটকে যাওয়া বিহারিদের মতো ৭১ এর বিজয় দিবসের পর তারাও সেদেশে আটকে যান।
এখন যেমন বিহারিদের পাকিস্তান যাওয়ার সুযোগ নেই ঠিক তেমনি তাদেরও বাংলাদেশে আসার সুযোগ নেই। কারণ এদেশ তাদের শিকড় হলেও তাদের মাথাগোঁজার ঠাঁই এখানে আর ছিল না। এছাড়া জন্মগত ভাবে তাদের সন্তানদের পাকিস্তানী হওয়াই উচিত। তারা সাংস্কৃতিকভাবে বাংগালী হলেও এখন তারা পাকিস্তানের বাসিন্দা। কোন সরকারই এমন বিশাল জনতা দেশে ফিরিয়ে আনার ঝুঁকি নিতে পারবে বলে মনে হয় না। ওরা সে দেশেই থাকবেন। কামনা করছি সেখানে সাংস্কৃতিকভাবে বাংগালী জনগণ সুখে শান্তিতে বসবাস করুক । পাকিস্তানের সরকার তাদের স্বীকৃতি দিক।
