This is one of the most POWERFUL scene in S&B history. I remember seeing it for the first time as it happened and was floored. I was emotional and I remember my mom saying "I know you are not crying over Sonny and Brenda". My weekend was messed up to say the least. Mo and Vanessa gave an OUTSTANDING performance the BEST I've seen in the 20 sumthing years I've watched them. I was so invested in this couple. I felt their highs and lows. I felt the same way!!! I remember when this was on in the 90s when they didn’t show it right away,you could feel Sonny’s pain and I was hoping she was going to tell him! When he held up that tape with his voice on it I was sick, I don’t think I was breathing and when he walked out and she was trying to grab at him and she fell to the floor,my heart sunk! I thought this is end!

Would you believe this is the first episode I ever watched back in the day? I was hooked. Love SnB so much. I was dying for them to get back together even though I hadn’t seen them together! Brenda had all valid questions, but were they really her business, though??? All Sonny really should have done was tell her he was a mobster the details didn't matter. Love how he instead professed his 💖. I mean he poured it ALL out. This man said he has let her into places he didn't even know he had, WOW!!! She is the only woman that can bring Sonny to tears. #POWERFUL
After rewatching the scenes leading up to this I think Sonny might have told her the truth if he didn't know she was wearing a wire. Especially after his conversation with Laura where he asked why she never outright questioned Luke about her suspicions and that she had a right to know. I think he was starting to see that Brenda also had a right to know. He should have told her "I know what you are being asked to do. I'll tell you the truth but it stays between us".

Why did it never occur to Brenda to just tell Sonny what Mac was planning? Didn't she think he could protect himself?? Ugh! Why didn't Sonny tell her when Froggie snitched? I just read an interview where the writer of the show (Karen Harris) said they originally planned Brenda to be framed and put on trial because of Sonny's crimes. Then, Sonny would obviously feel horrible and confess to everything. I'm curious how that would have worked out! ( I'm guessing they would have found illegal money in l&b and say it was Brenda's)

This was the moment I was no longer a Brenda fan and therefore did not want her with Sonny. I guess because they were my fav couple in soap history I felt just as betrayed as Sonny and could NEVER forgive her. It sucks because I rooted for them so much but I could understand why Sonny could NEVER fully trust her again. How can you when someone betrays you so completely. Maybe it’s just me and I’m being honest here…….I agree with him…….she really didn’t need to know and I think he knew that she couldn’t keep her mouth shut…….it was his business……..as long as he was honest with me about our personal life, I really couldn’t care about his business dealings……I am living a good life and I’m happy…….he kept me as safe as he could and that’s all I would of asked for…….we saw how much times certain things happened or he told her certain things and she ran straight to Ned or to Lois………and they gave her piss poor advice most of the times……..she was pushy and she felt that she had to know everything……..which she didn’t.!!!
Agree. But if there is any excuse, Brenda was so naive, spoiled, inquisitive & emotional. She was just out of high school when she met Sonny and she did not understand Sonny's World. Yes, he fell in love with her innocence, her unfiltered mouth and the pure way She loved him. The whole point is he loved her anyway, despite the betrayal. He did forgive her, eventually. Which is what you have to do if you truly love someone. Brenda had to grow up and truly understand the magnitude of Sonny's business.
