Rob, great video. I lived in Bangkok in the Sukhumvit Soi 49 area in 1983 and 84 when I was a teenager. The old Bangkok is shrinking with every modern building project. I was last there in 2002 for a month and a shorter visit in 2004. Since I would routinely be wide awake at 4 in the morning, I would walk around the sois and back streets, alleys to remember the old days. When I go back in the next year, I plan on staying away from the touristy areas. One can get that experience anywhere. I appreciate you covering this area and look forward to visiting other areas that do reflect the old Bangkok and Thailand that I remember as a kid. Cheers!
Hi, I am returning to Bangkok, in March, for the first time since 1980 and I think your VLOGS are so very informative and thank you for that. I was looking for your upload regarding Tourist Sim but it I cannot find it. Is it still available?
Yeah, get one upfront on somewhere like Klook and collect at the airport, and you can top up at any 7/11, they will do it for you, need your passport though
Thank you for this. Totally agree about Thailand starting where central Bangkok ends and I love exploring places where you won’t find any tourists. One place I want to go to when I’m back in March is the Santi asok market; a sustainable “village”/market with lots of cheap food stalls, built around a Buddhist temple. They promote sustainable living ie no plastic, no animal use etc Took me ages to find out where it is (about 10 min drive north of Bang Kapi MRT station) and there’s hardly anything about it on TH-cam. Maybe an idea for one of your future videos? 😉 All the best from Melbourne, Australia
Yehhh Great too see you back and hey Jorma . Awesome the unseen of BKK this exactly what I want to see more off . Thanks Rob … and a Happy 2024 🎉… to you …
@@ProjectBangkok Ill update the route map shortly with accurate google map points in case you would like to also visit the area But there is no points :(?
Thanks man. Just keeping things real.. tired of seeing other creators go into these amazing communities acting like there's a risk or danger it's becoming a joke now
While walking the back streets, the primary concern is motorcycles swiftly or swerving very close to pedestrians. They frequently ride at high speeds, disregarding the narrow and busy nature of the alleyway. Additionally, cars may overtake you if you are not vigilant. However, despite these challenges, walking in these areas is generally safe.
I find it ridiculous people telling me to "change" the way I talk to suit them 😂 after 38 years I have to change for you? Happy you enjoyed the video regardless though
Mate get yourself up our way soon! Nothing special but its maybe something different for yourself to get out the city again! Come fishing, get about on a motorbike for a bit see some new shit not most dont want or get to see!
When you enter Thailand and where ever you go it's REAL THAILAND! Te phrase "Real Thailand " is so over used and just a gimmick to get people to watch your videos!!!

Is that like me saying you're a "Real Karen"?
@@ProjectBangkok Do you even understand the slang term " Karen " , it seems not!
Keep it real Karen
@@ProjectBangkok Like the whole country of Thailand is " Real Thailand "
Just like the whole of you is a Real Karen 😂
