I'm down about 60 lbs since I got my Total Gym last September, and I've been watching a lot of your videos along the way. I definitely appreciate the content you put out, and love that you even did a video like this. I spent the majority of my life as a chef, and my diet has always been crap. I've been trying to eat healthier this last year, and cut out a lot of processed foods. This video gave me an idea where to find some healthier ideas for meals, that aren't things I've made a million times and gotten burned out on.

I enjoy the variety of your reviews, nutrition and family feedback is a great addition to the fitness product reviews.

I had Home Chef for a while… I felt like the portions were small considering I was going through a bulk. Also they put the recipes online for free so if you already have the ingredients you can save a lot of money.

Not going to lie, once I got the recipe card and tried one I like, those I'll be replicating versus wanting to re-order.

Thanks for the review and info on these services. I have neve tried any of them. One question I do have is how fresh are the ingredients overall? And also are the things like meat kept cold? I've seen boxes sitting outside of neighbour's houses for a few hours in the summer heat. Is everything kept cold or does the meat and other refrigerated stuff spoil?

I personally felt of the freshness and overall how cold they were, was totally fine. They put a decent amount of ice bags between a few layers and considering the box is insulated I feel like it could last a decent amount of time. But I know that whenever it was delivered we brought it inside fairly promptly.

Good for people who have no concept of portion control or people who are overwhelmed with their work schedule. and don't want takeout every night. Maybe for the tiny NYC kitchen. We are a couple with no kids and I generally cook 3 times a week, eating leftovers. When I say cook, don't picture me slaving over a stove. I have a few simple things I do, 5-10 minutes of prep and then go in the oven or Instapot. We like leftovers. Meal kits are good for novice cooks who don't know where to start. I do have a coworker who works very crazy hours, she and her husband both need to lose weight. The meals work for her

Thanks for that comment Mrs. H. I agree with a lot of that.

My wife and I used HelloFresh for a few months and liked most of the meals they offered. The funny thing was we always used what seemed to be several pots and pans and it looked as if we had cooked for ten people. A bit pricey for our budget but all in all the menu was very good and worth a try. Again I love your variety of reviews as health and fitness consists of many things.

Thanks again Lou. Love that you're watching the non-fitness content as well.

I tried hello fresh and blue apron and honestly they were not cost efficient. And I feel the portions are small

The portions were hard to tell considering my kids were not fans (so I got extra)

I tried both HelloFresh and EveryPlate. HelloFresh definitely was the better choice when it came to quality and taste of food but for a single man attempting to make these on his own after a long day I just found it difficult to motivate myself to make the recipes. I also just couldn't justify the price. EveryPlate was great for price but their recipes just never seemed that healthy to me. I seemed to be eating a lot of carbs and fats with little protein. Since that time I was advised to go mostly plant based and due to heart surgery also low sodium. Would love to find a Meal Plan service that would fit all those criteria (plant based, high protein, very low sodium) but I doubt it exists.

No on those, but I do cold showers on occasion.

Tried Hello Fresh for about six months. Definitely agree that many dishes are too rich. Not mentioned is the terribly annoying necessity of disposing of shipping materials. If you have any knowledge of cooking, don't bother. For the price, go buy a couple cookbooks, they'll be much more useful than these services...which get old after awhile. Unless you eat out every day, they are not cost effective at all.

I definitely hear you on that. Like I was saying in the video, I wouldn't do it every week, but the Green Chef was unique and tasty enough that we're looking forward to doing that one again.

I like that they care about gluten intolerance. It would be great if the meals were also GARLIC-FREE. Maybe they already are.
I love talking and hearing about food even more than eating. Cool video!
