In the case of this video, I only put the hook in one loop for one stitch. (2:32) However, this is not a mandatory rule. In some cases, I may put the hook in both loops of a stitch. (Example: th-cam.com/video/ibGOCS1Bu-Q/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Of84ARoeuOIKjw64&t=58)
Hello, does the yarn stretch a bit by itself? I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, I've tried using different hook sizes and yarns and yet it doesn't stretch as much as it does in the video. If the screen is true to size, its around 1.8x in the video, but the maximum I've been able to achieve is 1.65x, is there anything I can do about this? I'm mimicking the hand gestures in the video already, is it because of tension?🥲
There is a tendency for softer yarns to stretch more easily. The yarn used in the video is acrylic, so it is not a stretchy yarn in itself. For me, the value of “1.65x” does not seem bad. Also, I think it is easier to feel the elasticity if you increase the number of stitches and rows to a certain extent.

I can't tell if you're going into both sides of the same stich or not? (you're thumb keeps covering it, until you move your hook and I miss it)

Can it still stretch vertically?
It can stretch a bit vertically, but not as much as it can horizontally
