Definitely. Great song and I do see it on a lot more lists. As for the Rain Song, I think it has always been a fan favourite and one of mine but not a radio song so I agree Bjorn.
According to me, there are 3 levels of Led Zeppelin songs:- 1. The classics- Every body knows and loves them, some may get bored hearing them too often, but these are what every casual also knows and all of them are like some of the greatest songs ever made. 2. The Underrated Classics- These are the songs unbeknownst to the casuals, but many of them are in the favorites of true Led Zeppelin fans, they are incredible songs. eg:- The Rain Song, No Quarter, Achilles Last Stand, Ten Years Gone, Misty Mountain Hop, Battle of Evermore and more. 3. The Underrated Underrated-These are some which even true Led Zeppelin fans miss out on and when you hear the albums more, you will find them and they are fabulous as well(Spoiler- there is no bad LZ song...). eg:- In the Light, Thank You, Your Time is Gonna Come, You Shook Me, The Rover, Gallows Pole, Sick Again, Down by the Seaside and more.
Oh, thank you, it feels great getting a heart from you, I don't wanna annoy too much by writing too many comments but it's my 4th time watching the same video, so I wrote one down, btw I am only 15 while writing this.
I would also include "The Wanton Song" (done by page and plant in later years), "Hots on for nowhere" (covered by Van Halen) and "south bound sourez". Finally, i have always considered “what is and what should never be” as underrated
My top 10 10. I'm Gonna Crawl 9. Tangerine 8. Bring It On Home 7. Your Time Is Gonna Come 6. How Many More Times 5. Night Flight 4. Thank You 3. The Lemon Song 2. In The Light 1. In My Time Of Dying
I had written off Hats Off to Roy Harper, but I think I like it a little more now. Here's my list: 1. What Is and What Should Never Be 2. Gallows Pole 3. That's the Way 4. Hey Hey What Can I Do 5. Misty Mountain Hop 6. The Crunge 7. Custard Pie 8. Trampled Under Foot 9. Royal Orleans 10. I'm Gonna Crawl
A Led Zeppelin-related video after sooo long! Great list!! My Top 10 in chronological order: 1. How Many More Times 2.What Is And What Should Never Be 3.Thank You 4.Friends 5.Gallows Pole 6.Dancing Days 7.The Rover 8.Night Flight 9.Ten Years Gone 10. Hot Dog Honorable Mentions: Tangerine, Down By The Seside, The Wanton Song and Houses Of The Holy Can't wait for the album reviews...
Great list! I suppose I'll have a crack at it... (in chronological order) -Your Time Is Gonna Come (totally agree with with you) -Friends -Out On The Tiles -That's The Way -The Battle Of Evermore (hard to say if this one's really 'underrated,' but I've always loved the feel of this track over many other songs on the album) -The Rain Song -Houses Of The Holy -In The Light -Down By The Seaside -The Wanton Song
11. I'm Gonna Crawl 10. Dancing Days 9. For Your Life 8. Friends 7. Royal Orleans 6. Ten Years Gone 5. Sick Again 4. In the Light 3. That's the Way 2. Carouselambra 1. Misty Mountain Hop Growing up on classic rock radio in the 80s, I heard Misty Mountain Hop quite a bit on the radio, but still, it might just be my favorite Zeppelin song and it doesn't seem to get the respect it deserves. But Carouselambra is not only not known by the general population, but it seems hated or criticized as too long or whatever even by Zeppelin fans, but I think it's an epic masterpiece.
Out on the Tiles and The Rover need more airplay because both are brilliant songs ......plus Travelling Riverside Blues is a Gem.....and everything on 'Presence' mainly Achilles Last Stand and Hots on for Nowhere.....and every song on Led Zeppelin 3
In the light Four Sticks Down by the seaside Celebration day Out on the tiles Your time is gonna come Carouselambra Fool in the rain As far as I know, only one of the tracks mentioned above was regularly played live, but they are all great songs
Physical Graffiti is filled with amazing underrated songs also In my Time of Dying, Down by the Seaside, Houses of the Holy, Custard Pie and what you and Larry mentioned.
10. Friends 9. Bring It On Home 8. Your Time Is Gonna Come 7. The Rover 6. You Shook Me 5. I'm Gonna Crawl 4. The Lemon Song 3. In The Light 2. How Many More Times 1. In My Time Of Dying
One song that's about as deep a cut as there is officially with Led Zeppelin is Key To The Highway/Trouble In Mind. A fantastic acoustic Blues number with one of my favorite harmonica performances by Rob (Bet you haven't called him that before!). I also love the boogie-woogie songs like Boogie With Stu, Darlene and, dare I say, Hot Dog. Probably everything off of Coda is underrated as well.
Dancing Days has always been one of my favourites too. Also I would include the instrumental Bron Yr Aur and Four Sticks, which i used to think was the only weak track on IV, but its now one of my favourites.
I'll give it shot. 10. Night Flight 9. Darlene 8. The Wanton Song 7. That's The Way 6. Out On The Tiles 5. Thank You 4. Carouselambra 3. Tangerine 2. Down By The Seaside 1. Dancing Days
Cheers Larry. Great list. Many of these would have been absolute gems as B Sides had Led Zeppelin released singles. One of my favourite LZ songs is Nobody's Fault But Mine. John Bonham's slightly syncopated sound is amazing. Wow did he hit those drums hard. Cheers from Wimbledon, London.
I saw your questions and some of the choices by the commenters left me stunned 😲 Most of these might even be in my proper top 10. Not really in any order. 1 Fool in the Rain - although I think this is a fan favourite but I saw someone put this as their least favourite? 2 The Crunge 3 Dancing Days - the reason I first bought Houses of the Holy as a teen. 4 Gallows Pole 5 Battle of Evermore - the reason I became a fan and bought my first Zeppelin lp. 6 Thank You 7 Living Loving Maid 8 Celebration Day 9 Friends 10 Hats Off to Roy Harper Btw, do you have any Roy Harper albums?
In no particular order, I love Bron-y-Aur stomp definitely underrated. Such a fun rockabilly / bluegrass vibe. Also, I really like that raw rocker Wearing and Tearing off of Coda. Black Country Woman, Achilles last stand, down by the seaside, custard pie, friends, I’m gonna crawl, out on the tiles....
Great video, Larry! I would add: Bron Y Aur Stomp The Crunge The Wanton Song In the Light South Bound Saurez (JPJ is great on this) Carouselambra "Sick Again" is quite good imo but I don't consider it as one of the best LZ songs. /PVS
Great list Larry. I agree Sick Again underrated but great song. I always loved both Out on the Tiles and I'm Gonna Crawl both just awesome songs. I would put "In my time of Dying" as a fairly underrated Zeppelin song. I think it's one of their most epic tunes and some of Bonham's greatest drumming!
Totally, so true, In My Time of Dying, I was in awe the first time I heard it, and the second time, the third time... Forget it, every time! One of my favorite Led Zeppelin songs and I think it's decently underrated.
Like the Beatles, I have a hard time labeling any of Led Zeppelin's songs as "underrated." They're all good. Several of the songs you mentioned are so classic - Misty Mountain Hop, Thank You, Dancing Days - I don't think they should be mentioned in the same sentence as the word "underrated." I'll bite, though. If they have underrated songs - these are more "under the radar" rather than "underrated" - I'll go with "Ozone Baby" off of CODA and "Royal Orleans" & "Hots On For Nowhere" from PRESENCE.
I checked your list against the contents of "and only half are from that leftovers set. 'Your Time Is Gonna Come' is one of my favorites, 'Thank You' is also great and 'Dancing Days' is very good too, it was a b-side to 'Over the Hills and Far Away' which is my favorite Zep song.

I love Sick Again. Great riff. I would also include What is and what should never be, The Rain Song and That’s the way. Still don’t like Hats off to Roy Harper, also found Tangerine a bit dated

I would agree, it’s more known now, I feel the same regarding The Rain Song.
Definitely. Great song and I do see it on a lot more lists. As for the Rain Song, I think it has always been a fan favourite and one of mine but not a radio song so I agree Bjorn.
@@bjrnsjohnsen1278 Rain Song is awesome!! A real masterpiece!
That is a good list of songs.
Would you consider Tangerine underated as i love this but never hear it spoken of.
I actually hear Tangerine on the radio from time to time. Easily in my Top 10 favorite Zeppelin songs.

Do the songs become more underrated as the numbers get lower? Like is #1 the most underrated of the underrated? Or is 10 lower and 1 higher?
Yes.
