One language is often not enough, true. I was brought up speaking German. At home I wasn’t taught to express my emotions, so I started to speak about what I was feeling, in dialogue with myself, in English. So German is the language of my head, but English and other languages have become the languages of my heart.
Thank you Elif! I totally agree with you being brought up in England in an Italian household in the 1950’s I was ashamed of my Mother’s Italian accent! I did not want to seem foreign. I was not made to feel proud of my Italian heritage or ability to speak another language and I wanted at all costs to annihilate my background! Of course now I celebrate that richness!!!
How nicely you have explained this phenomenon called accent. Your viewpoint always have unique ingredients that make your words more attractive and fascinating.
This is interesting, and I agree with you, Elif. As a non native English speaker, I have to say that some native English spakers argue that ameliorating English accent for non-native English speakers is appreciation of English itself. Also, as they said, accent is still possible to be improved, not like skin color that is a fixed-identity.
I think pretty much society moulds & shapes your accent. The more v hear a particular thing it becomes a part of ours. Thank u mam for every video u share.

Many people tell me that I have an accent, but the most hard one was when someone told me to go back to my country because of my accent!
Thank you, always very interesting videos. Really enjoy watching your videos and having a think afterwards
It is such a loss that we as humans do not celebrate this diversity in languages.
As an African who studied in the US, I can understand how this can be an issue for lots of foreigners/immigrants. Thanks for addressing accents!
