Great way to pay tribute to your dad. The inside container is great to prevent the crisp breads from getting crushed beyond recognition. The Ham and chicken yes mechanically separated but still good. Would love to try one of these meals. I used to be able to buy the light crisp breads here in the stores but haven't been able to find them in years. We can get the Wasa breads with no problem. That would leave you very hungry, i doubt it. I could eat all that in a single meal and still be hungry even if i sat in bed all day. That might work for half a day.

But the spice mix comments you made remind me of another book you'd probably like, if you haven't read 'em already. Start with the first book, of course, but the scene I'm thinking of is in the beginning of the second book. It's the Hobart Floyt and Alacrity Fitzhugh trilogy by Brian Daley. These two spacefaring roustabouts wind up crammed into a tiny space in a cramped space freighter, and the "standard ration meal trays" they have available are like the most appallingly boring MREs ever made. But Our Heroes are saved by the greatest sauce ever... Alacrity dug into the pack, fetching out a large plastic bottle shaped like a grinning Buddha.
