    Walrus should totally sponsor you. Because of your video alone, I added the oil and wax to my Amazon cart.

    These boards turn out really beautiful, and it's a lot of fun to watch them being made! I hope you don’t mind if I ask a question that recently came up with my own boards: Is Starbond safe for food contact? Since the charcuterie boards will likely touch food, I’ve been struggling to find a food-safe option for filling the holes. I’m really curious to hear your opinion on whether Starbond is suitable for this purpose.

    • @mmcc_woodshop6288
      @mmcc_woodshop6288  11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I don’t think starbond is technically rated as ‘food safe’.
      Personally, once the CA glue is cured and you’re not cutting into that specific piece, I don’t think it would cause problems.
      If it’s of concern, it’s best to just avoid use altogether 👍🏻

    It would seem that the crack left after the bow ties would have to be filled to prevent mold, bacteria, etc from forming. I use epoxy filler for any type of void.
    Great looking boards and simple construction!

      Thanks for the input, I never considered that! One of the board with the crack is at a relatives house, holding up perfect so far 👍🏻

    What grits do you sand to? And after popping the grain, what grits do you use each time?

    • @mmcc_woodshop6288
      @mmcc_woodshop6288  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think I went to 150 on these. Sand to 150, water pop, sand to 150 again. You can sand through the grits (80-120-150) but I think I just used 150 after each water pop

    Do you prefer to use the flush trim bit in your hand router or on a router table?

    • @mmcc_woodshop6288
      @mmcc_woodshop6288  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The router table is my preference as it is much more efficient 👍🏻

    did you add any starbond to the board that has the bow ties or just the bowties glued in? Awesome job on these....

    • @mmcc_woodshop6288
      @mmcc_woodshop6288  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! They were just glued in, no starbond 👍🏻

    Im just curious are you supposed to router the live edge part? Or could you leave it natural and just sand it so it isnt sharp

    • @mmcc_woodshop6288
      @mmcc_woodshop6288  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It could be done either way, the router was probably a bit quicker, but sanding would be fine as well

    • @IRAQYsniper95
      @IRAQYsniper95 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @mmcc_woodshop6288 what about the bearings on the router bit? How do you router it when the live edge is angled and the bearing part has no where to reference how much the bit cuts?

    • @mmcc_woodshop6288
      @mmcc_woodshop6288  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @IRAQYsniper95 the roundover but still worked fine. These were thinner pieces, so the one side of the piece still had a live edge the bearing would reach

    • @IRAQYsniper95
      @IRAQYsniper95 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @mmcc_woodshop6288 I'm just trying to imagine what looks better on my piece... I want to keep the natural look of the live edge so can I get away with just sanding it and routering the other parts?

    • @mmcc_woodshop6288
      @mmcc_woodshop6288  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @IRAQYsniper95 yes, sanding would be fine opposed to using a router 👍🏻

    Would a hand electric planer do the same thing?

    • @mmcc_woodshop6288
      @mmcc_woodshop6288  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Potentially so, with a little more effort. I don’t have experience with handheld planers but I would imagine it could work 👍🏻

    How much do you sell these boards for?

    • @mmcc_woodshop6288
      @mmcc_woodshop6288  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I gave these away but marketed properly probably $80-$100 per board

  • @thebabayaga9290
    @thebabayaga9290 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I didn’t know people in scioto county would pay 100 bucks for a board.
    I’ve made walnut cherry maple boards and most act like 100 bucks is asking for their first born.
    Boards look good. Good luck with everything
    I’m a local

      Thanks! Selling locally is definitely the biggest challenge I have with everything I make. You are spot on the interpretation of the price!
