Unique, challenging and outstanding showmanship, great band not afraid to be different, Glaswegians being themselves, God bless them, fantastic entertainment
Glad you guys liked another of my initial selections! I thought it was important for ya'll to see just what a character old Alex was. He's like part Bon Scott, part Keith Richards, part Albert Einstein, and part every pirate from every pirate movie ever. A couple of things- Zal Cleminson is wearing Mime makeup and not Clown makeup. And the sign did, in fact, say Pissour. A pissour is a free standing urinal that is popular in continental Europe. Makes me think of Zappa's In France song, lol. This was also a great visual showcase to watch Zal abuse the hell out of his SG.
We had horse troughs in our old Grey lady (Cleveland Municipal Stadium) and we stood shoulder to shoulder & there were no other acts like the Sensational Alex Harvey gang... SO, me and Clyde threw back some Lone Stars in your honour Sir
totally brilliant. His albums are great but to see them live is another level. This encapsulates them live and I was lucky enough to see them quite a few times around this time. The band are awesome, particularly Zal Cleminson, the guitarist. Good reaction and great initial pick from Chaz
This is one of THOSE bands I would have loved to see live. My favourite SAHB songs are St. Anthony & Give My Complements To The Chef. Those that love them (like me) love them lots...

Amongst Alex's words of wisdom were. don’t make any bullets, don’t buy any bullets and don’t shoot any fucken bullets” -if you do, you'll only make a rich man richer.
Completly forgot about these guys, now im gonna have to find the two albums I have from these guys. More work. I remember some of there tunes were kinda pre punk. Anyways fun watch.
I enjoyed the hell out of these guys whenever I saw them on Midnight Special or Don Kirschner's Rock Concert in the early mid-70s. Unhinged and happy to be so. Best remember 'Vambo'. 😊🤙🏼🎶🔥❤️🍁❤️✨️🕊
They weren’t a band who would be pigeonholed into a particular genre. They certainly didn’t just pump out songs. They were an individual experience each time
No better performance art group...evah! Been a F_A_N since 1971. Follow 'em down the hole, you can't miss. My fave is Give My Compliments to the Chef (there's live vid out there)...oh, hey, he can turn right around and be cowboy! The band is tremendous and, of course, Zal...sheesh, if you coulda seen 'em in person, unreal. "if I could only see today, the way I see tomorrow..."
This reaction brought back memories, my brother played me Faith Healer back in the day which I thought was brilliant, then this one he'd taped for me. Quite bluesy when the band kicks in for the chorus. You're right, he's was quite a character. I used to go to the Bridge House, a music pub in Canning Town, London, which, as well as regular bands, had some great artists booked from time to time. I was a complete surprise to me when I walked in and Alex Harvey was on stage, this venue was small. Wasn't the 'sensational band' but they did a mix of SAHB and I guess, solo numbers.

You have to hear their version of Jacque Brel's 'Next.'
The Sensational Alex Harvy Band is tremendous!!!!!
There is a reason.
Sensational to say the least ;)

There’s an informative interview with Alex Harvey on The Old Grey Whistle Test,
The best band ever to have come out of Scotland.

One of the greatest live bands EVER. Showmen and great musicians. The Tale of The Giant Stoneater is equally great and completely different.
Thanks Ronnie!
There's no lights on the Christmas tree mother!
I absolutely LOVE this version. The audience was sorta too mellow the previous song, and SAHB was like 'Wait'll they get a load of this!'
I saw the Sensational Alex Harvey Band twice.. one of the best live bands I ever saw..
Awesome!
Not a clown. A harlequin!
😱

well, those are words that never flew in this nation across the pond as there are too many rich men that`ve killed billions...Thanks Alex & Allen
I love how Alex makes three syllables out of "fra--me-duh"!
I counted 6 syllables. "uh-fuh-ray-ya-mud-duh". That's some impressive talent.
😂
that zal cleminson sure played some hard sounding guitar

Definitely fun to watch!
Alex had a guitarist called Zal Cleminson, who used to play while wearing Joker-like facepaint

THE great live performer. Helluva band too.
One word - Sensational
Great band!
I saw them twice. I've never seen anything like it before or since, & I don't think I ever will. Truly, absolutely, Sensational.
Sensational definitely seems like the key word :)
Try next, or the Boston tea party.
Brilliant band, I seen them live in Swansea Football ground early 70s Great experience.. Check out Next and Delilah.
I saw them a couple of times in the 70’s. They were a great live act.
Seems like it!
Alex's brother played for a band called Stone The Crows. Sadly, he died after being electrocuted while playing live.
We’ve heard Stone the Crows! They were great
They do an awesome cover of Delilah
I just recorded Rock Drill from lp to cd today.
That album gets panned a bit...personally I loved it. "Who Murdered Sex"...OMFG.

Classic song also done by Ritchie Valens, Cheech Marin etc 🎸🎤
How cool!
Thank you.
Of course!

I think this perfomance was held in Sweden in 1974. Not that good in my view, except för the guitarist.
