I want to out a 3.5 turbo diesel in my 07 ranger it's the fx4 lvl2 with the "tow package" guessing thats the level 2 part for better suspension or something, dohc 4.0 in it, 5speed auto. I wanna know the estimated cost of the build (parts costs only) labor I could ask around at my local shop

When I was 17 I swapped a 351 into my old ‘85 ranger 4x4. Used a bronco II C5 tailhousing into a C4 transmission so I could use factory transfer case. Made and welded motor mounts to the frame, oil filter relocation and put in a bigger radiator. I did this before the internet by myself at 17. Read lots of books and crawled around a lot of cars at the junkyards to figure stuff out. I love engine swaps!

I was thinking about putting a 2.3L Ecoboost from a Mustang base coupe in my S10. With an aftermarket chip, down pipe & intercooler, you are over 400hp on a 2.3L Ecoboost.
For me, I think it's a better option because the gear is way cheaper, it's less weight up front and it won't be nearly are tight under the hood. Plus, I don't have a shop, just my Man-Cave garage...
