Well it was about survival it's not like Duncan crossed the line you know he had no choice he had to attack those Mortals to protect Richie and Tessa! Look how many times we seen in The Walking Dead where Rick killed a bunch of humans! All about survival sometimes in survival you do things you normally wouldn't do
Why do you think he was depressed? Because he walked away at the end? There were reporters everywhere. One had recognized Richie. He was in no mood to answer questions or call attention to himself. He would have had to answer too many questions. No doubt, he was exhausted not only by his actions but realizing what he almost lost. He couldn't be with Tessa when she faced the danger without him. His parting words when they took him to be shot, "I'll see you," was to assure her he felt no Immortals present, but he still hated that he couldn't be at her side during the crisis.

So yes, I can see him being tired of having to lose those he loves while not being able to die himself. Even an immortal must get tired of the loss and being on their own at some point.
LOL, what? Mac has been in probably in 40 to 100 wars in all of his time as an immortal. You don't join the Union army to kill immortals, but to kill those who defend slavery. He's killed plenty of morals, regularly, for the entirely of his existence.
But it was an unequal battle. He would have survived anyway, and his opponents didn't stand a chance. Why should we empathize with a hero who's taking no chances here anyway?
Nice detail... at the the 7:29 mark, the "silencers" actually don't sound like little spits, but closer to actual shots! Yeh for realism... in a fantasy show! I love highlander, but I also love when shows get the little things right...
They really strove for as much realism as they could. They also tried to display history fairly accurately, as much as you could on a television show back then.
I just recognized the kid's father as one of Kenny's victims. The one who taught him how to fish. And the defendant played an immortal of the Aztec god and Jesus.
To expand upon Mr. Cursed explanation, Duncan hates to kill Mortals because their lives are so short and it's something Duncan cares about deeply, especially seeing how it can end so tragically. So Duncan staggering away, looking bleak and defeated... is exactly how he feels. Although, the stare at the end? Creeper Stare is CREEPY... 4th Wall Breaking ftw?

I never saw the early episodes. So far these are painfully good. I see how it grew in overall quality in later seasons. But this is still great stuff for the genre. I think Adrian Paul could have done a great James Bond. He's intense. A very impressive and convincing swordsman and martial artist too. He comes off as a formidable warrior. Rises above the material. Good character development. Hashtag fuckofftheRichiecharacter.

He did not have much of a career. Mostly small forgettable roles of forgettable characters, alas. Adrian Paul also slowly faded into cheap projects, over time, -even despite maintaining good looks, in shape and all. But the venerable Buliwyf / Kulich, no matter how brave a viking warrior he once portrayed, (definite kudos to him, did much better job than Fimmel) but even there he had only a fraction of a screen time, and in the end - he couldn't get even close to the modest laurels of Duncan Macleod and definitely not anywhere near those of Adrian Paul.
You were absolutly right. Wanting to see actors just once in a show comes right after the classical children´s beliefe " there are little men behind the screen " I mean see an actor on the same show several times and still feel entairtained demonstrates how good they are.
It's kinda sweet the con man just wanted to work with nice people haha. And its funny that Duncan can get executed on purpose to escape a hostage situation. Immortal characters create so many fun comedic opportunities

Someone's been watching too many movies. A suppressed weapon still fires at about 130 decibels. Front row at a rock concert is 120 decibels. It's isn't the "whoosh" sound like you hear in the movies.

Not really...he does *spoiler* eventually get offed, but it's right around that point in time the series really, really goes downhill. Season six is nightmarishly bad...the high point for this series is probably around mid-point...season three and four. It's just a tv show mind you so it does have good and bad episodes scattered throughout.

He may be an immortal, but he is one of the good ones. He is good at killing, but he doesn't like doing it, The events of the day were clearly traumatizing, its readily apparent on his face.
Richie went along to show Tessa where to go because he had experience with the courthouse. It also had to be Tessa that made the call to call off the police attack. A woman wasn't part of the team who held the hostages.
The Producers learned a lot from this early episode. First, they learned, that if there is no bad immortal , no sword fight. No quickening, than the audience has no interest. No flashback. All of the things that made the show special are missing. Second, COST. They had to pay for the locations. The helicopter. Huge cast. A bunch of extras in cop uniforms. The reporter and camera man. The child actress , which requires an on set teacher. And too many lines with the other actors , and not enough with the man characters. They LEARNED! So in all future episodes, they had a bad immortal. Flashback. Sword fight and beheading. Except one, where they went up against a gang leader in a no man’s land which was the worst episode. This is basically a poorly done ripoff of Die hard. More like CANT DIE HARD.
One thing I must say is, Duncan has got a great talent to always end up in trouble.

I dont get the ending.
He may be an immortal, but he is one of the good ones. He is good at killing, but he doesn't like doing it, The events of the day were clearly traumatizing, its readily apparent on his face.
They definitely needed to do something different to convey whatever. The American version cut when he was half way up the stairs too.

Richie went along to show Tessa where to go because he had experience with the courthouse.
It also had to be Tessa that made the call to call off the police attack. A woman wasn't part of the team who held the hostages.

Watched with CC Transcript it's a different episode alltogether!
The Producers learned a lot from this early episode. First, they learned, that if there is no bad immortal , no sword fight. No quickening, than the audience has no interest.
No flashback. All of the things that made the show special are missing.
Second, COST. They had to pay for the locations. The helicopter. Huge cast. A bunch of extras in cop uniforms. The reporter and camera man. The child actress , which requires an on set teacher. And too many lines with the other actors , and not enough with the man characters.
They LEARNED! So in all future episodes, they had a bad immortal. Flashback. Sword fight and beheading. Except one, where they went up against a gang leader in a no man’s land which was the worst episode.
This is basically a poorly done ripoff of Die hard. More like CANT DIE HARD.
