    King vs Gillis great match to watch

    I have never seen Gillis play so well before, perhaps once, she’s just played too well.
    And King my goodness!

    KIng cheated by pushing to Gilis for a stroke at match point. should have been no let. in my view, Gilis won the match.

    No worries Nele, your performance was top drawer. Next time you're in this situation, you'll make the win look easy. King is a warrior and the gloves are off when the glass door closes. Very exciting match, thank you PSA SquashTV. Skål

    Best I ever have seen Nele play. Incredible effort. Tesni Evans would have potential to be top3 in the world imho. Her physique is just not up to that standard.

    Gillis played extremely well

    It boggles my mind why Tesni doesn't slim down... with the skill she has she could be challenging for #1 in the world with the Egyptians if she just got rid of the extra weight she is carrying around

    That was such a poor call against Gilis. Even if a shot is loose you just can't shove your opponent into the path of the shot. That call should have at best been a let.

      That’s your opinion and why your not the ref. The video referee ruled as a stroke and the commentator who were all pro squash players said was closer to a stroke as the ball sat to high. She was trying to get to the ball and it sat high and come back in her line of play.

    • @tascolino538
      @tascolino538 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nztpo She ran straight into the back of her opponent and shoved her in the path of the ball. Watch the replay.

      @@nztpo Take a look at the way King contacts her - her racket hand is in no position to play the ball had her opponent not been there. She is looking for the stroke rather than looking to play the ball, and that's poor from a player of her standard. It's very reminiscent of the kind of "let/stroke hunting" that plagued 90s professional squash. You're also not the ref, and your argument that none of us is the ref has no bearing on anything. That logic only holds if refs are infallible, which they are not.

      I really wanted Gillis to win this match, she was playing better than King most of the match. The call was a close one but was correct after looking at it many times, Gillis’ drop was too high, sat up and she was standing in the line of King. King probably didn’t need to push her out of the way that much in hindsight but at this level of play and on match ball, she had to show every effort she was trying to get to the ball. This is a case of blame the nature of the game. Gillis could have shown she was trying to get out of the way and a let would be called IMHO.

    • @tascolino538
      @tascolino538 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tonytan5945 Which is exactly my point. Gillis didn't have the chance to get out of the way because her opponent had just slammed right into her back. If the opponent had actually been attempting to go play the shot Gillis may have had the chance to side step out of the way. It may have still been judged a stroke afterwards but I feel players shouldn't be rewarded for this sort of movement.

    A hard match for Joelle and Nele. Nele didn't like the push at the end there however she was front and centre of her loose shot unfortunately.

    • @nztpo
      @nztpo 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ron92neo From my point of view she was making every effort to get to the ball even if that meant “lean her weight” or push her to get to the ball, that’s the whole point even if the ball is sitting high so there is no question on effort made to play. If she didn’t make that lean or effort it may have been called a let, who knows. The professionals got the call right
