Dear Josh, What's it like living with the burden of being the funniest editor at the Yogscast? love, a fan p.s. seeing some of the more scaredy cat yogs (lydia, barry, rambler, etc) go ghost hunting would 100% make me become a member.
2:36 The editing is sublime. 7:40 Return of the sexy glasses! 9:25 Lydia’s anime voice is very similar to Boba’s and Tom’s anime voice… is certainly something. LOL 20:03 Lydia’s voice wins.
Thanks for your reactions! In terms of providing context there was a series of 20-something short animated episodes (with English subtitles) released in the build up to the game which helps fill in some of the blanks as to what's going on (th-cam.com/video/fUneGc-vkSY/w-d-xo.html). Albeit I still find the game a little confusing. Having watched the game playthrough, I genuinely think the voice acting and expressions in the animated series are done much better and fit the horror mood more. As you said, in the game for some reason the voice acting is more cutesy than scary so it feels a bit mild as far as horror goes.
Lydia narrating HoloLive content like a London Geezer and then abruptly shifting to Tom narrating it in a Transatlantic Radio voice is everything I never knew I needed.
Since you're local to Bristol, if you want a 'haunted experience' Shepton Prison is supposedly haunted and they do the whole 'stay overnight and explore the prison during the dark' experience. It's a touch expensive mind you.
I genuinely wonder if this game was designed to be less scary and more just a bit spooky and creepy in some places? But then again, it was designed to be playable by the Vtubers themselves and some of them are massive scaredy cats so perhaps they had to limit the spookums factor a little for that reason. But in that vein I wonder if Grandpapa was a little bit of a "Would you prefer this instead of the anime girls?" As people have already mentioned, there's a semi-animated series (more slideshow than actual moving animation most of the time) that you can watch if you want to be even more confused! It features some "Vtubers flex their voice acting muscles" and also explains some things, such as the fact that the long-haired girl may or may not be a lonely ghost(?) with regrets after her friends died in the landslide. Overall, another fun Tom and Lydia collab... featuring 100% more silly glasses.
0:42 so that red rope + bell bracelet is a good luck charm in shinto, basically evil spirits/ghost repellant. Additionally, the higanbana flowers (red spider lily) which have been seen multiple times but in this episode at 8:48 and 11:15 symbolize death in Japanese popular culture because they were planted in graveyards and fields to prevent rats and other animals from eating corpses or crops (they are poisonous). Higan literally means the other side (aka death/afterlife) in Japanese Buddhism. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suzu_(bell) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shimenawa en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lycoris_radiata#Uses_and_legends
I am curious Lydia, since you mentioned nursery rhymes spook you what about the Nightmare on Elm Street nursery rhyme? Do you remember that rhyme? 1, 2 Freddy's come for you, 3, 4 better lock your door, 5, 6 grab your crucifix, 7, 8 gonna stay up late, 9, 10 never sleep again.
Tom you should really check out song of horror, it's a great little horror game with classic tropes and amazing atmosphere! would be awesome if you played it on your channel!
I wasn't sure what to expect out of the Hololive horror game though I knew it wasn't for me... And I have to say it's more underwhelming than I initially thought, even! And of course all the reviews on Steam are positive, with people going "eh it was okay" or single-word joke reviews because it's Hololive. Bizarre.
I think the thing is that it's very positively reviewed because it's by hololive for hololive fans. It's a mediocre game at best but what's enjoyable is it's a _hololive_ horror game. Like someone took an ok horror game and replaced everything with Hololive characters, but for fans that's enjoyable enough. You're not just being chased around by some random monster, you're being chased around by _Tokino Sora_ who on the one hand can definitely be scary ("So, you're the enemy") but on the other hand can't be bothered to secure her phone stand properly so her model occasionally collapses on stream when her phone (which is what's doing the mocap) drops.
Please for the love of god Tom, play PT and put it on TH-cam. It is brilliant and one of the few games I actually consider scary. We will fund any heart surgeries you need.
They are anti motion sickness glasses! Since motion sickness is generally caused by the brain getting confused by a mismatch between what it is seeing and what it is feeling, the glasses have tubes of colored liquid around the rims. Your brain knows that liquid is very motion sensitive and so by keeping it always in view both in front and on the sides for your peripheral vision, it is telling your brain "this is the actual motion occurring right now, regardless of what else you are seeing." It basically creates an artificial horizon that your brain can latch onto to keep it from feeling disoriented. It's more meant for vehicle travel but I guess it can work for screen based motion sickness too.
I imagine it'd be hard to enjoy the game on its own merits, especially considering its based moreso as a tie-in to the hololive Error animation videos that provide better context to the story: th-cam.com/video/fUneGc-vkSY/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=hololive%E3%83%9B%E3%83%AD%E3%83%A9%E3%82%A4%E3%83%96-VTuberGroup Either way, this game is likely not to scare those outside of hololive (or maybe even within hololive... unless you're Lui Takane). Also, its kinda a multi-ending game; idk how the others are achieved, but there might be more to the game than your first playthrough.
Daily reminder that Tom is an amazing person and to thank him for all he has done/will do - Day 1066 Sweet :D Part 2, fantastic :D, and real spooky Well kind of spooky, honestly after 13:36 came out of nowhere, it was just cute from then on XD ha ha. Still frightening though Oh I love how the Milk works and shows that XD ha ha I tell you, with PT being really scary, having been removed from the store, and so hard to play you have remakes, it is sounding even more like a Creepy Pasta XD WOOOOO the glasses are here baby Oh cool, multiple endings :D This was alot of fun :D, must get my friend to play this too XD. Not much steaming though, I agree, how odd XD
Once again, as always, Josh MVP... also Josh, you're lucky my phone had ads on that video 😒 Someone linked it but yeah there's a video on basically a backstory series of videos on HoloError. Fun fact for Tom, some of these are ofc the characters in Holocure but these are actually all their voices as well. The game wasn't designed to be ultra spook, like it wasn't supposed to make you shit or piss yourself but it was supposed to be a creepy, slightly spooky, mystery with characters *you* know... obviously you and Lydia are *slightly* removed from the Hololive fandom so it's less effective in certain ways. Also, quite aside, this game unlike holocure was actually published [not developed] by Cover Corp, aka the company that owns/runs Hololive Production, also their symbol is the play button that's the exp in Holocure for ref. But yeah, HoloError is an AU so the characters have *slightly* altered names, like Yuka is Okayu, the cat girl in Hologamers that you haven't played yet. For example the main spooky girl in this "Misora Shino" is Sora Tokino who's in Holocure, the first member of Hololive. Some of the name changes ofc make way more sense in Japanese than english. Like the fox girl you played as Shirakami Fubuki = Shirayuki Inari, she's supposed to be an arctic fox therefore Fubuki meaning Blizzard and Shirakami meaning White Hair makes a lot of sense. Shirayuki Inari on the other hand is White Snow and the name of a Fox God. So, names are different, world is different, lore is all unique to this setting but there's tons of content outside of the game that adds to it.
It's a shame seeing a great TH-camr like Tom resorting to cheap tactics for views: Lydia's glasses are clearly just trying to appeal to the sexual appetite of young people watching.
So I'm someone who doesn't know anything about Hololive beyond "group of Japanese streamers who use 3D models of anime girls in place of face cams"... Can someone explain to me what this game is? Like who made it, why, and how does it connect to the whole Hololive... thing?
Could be wrong but as far as I know, one of the streamers (Tokino Sora, the anime girl with the blue eyes) really loves horror and came up with this project idea/story. All of the characters except Gramps and the MC are performed by other streamers. It was produced by Hololive Productions, and I believe the actual game-building was contracted to an outside group. There’s a series of short 3D videos where you can turn the camera to look around the room as scenes play out, and a series of storyboard semi-animated videos that lead into the game to give it more context. The game itself clearly isn’t very good, though.
I'm also someone who knows nothing about the whole thing and I much prefer it this way. At this stage I feel like it would be like trying to explain the Metal Gear saga to my grandad
Is it just me or is the video having issues playing? Given that everything else on TH-cam is ok and video doesn’t seem to have many comments idk what’s goin on
There are 3 endings to the game Tom, might need a guide for them tbh because... >_> You're kinda blind sometimes. Love yah but it's just how it is... us glasses folk don't have good perception by default.
My favorite part of Tom's Hololive period is we all know he will absolutely never remember any of the characters or learn any of their names
You never know, it might stick in his brain like Lovecraft or Warhammer lore
Lydia's special glasses never cease to make me smile
26:50 *pushes up glasses* "A felinid... that's what they are called in Warhammer."
Tom, you glorious nerd.
Anime voice Lydia is scarier than anything in this game.
Dorky glasses Lydia is there too tho 😬
@@phaolo6 I think you mean _sexy_ glasses Lydia, thank you very much

I'm so glad Lydia found those glasses so she can be in these videos more!

You’d better watch out
And say your farewells,
You’d better run fast
When you hear those bells
Creepy Tom is coming to town
With bells no less!!
I vote for the one that was like, "ueeughhh."
Does that help?
starting with its all a dream after just waking up from a nap was exactly what I needed today

Deeper into the Hololive mines, Tomothy.
At what point will be know he's dug too deep, and… who would the HoloLive's Balrog be?
@@PierceArner Having an oshi would be the balrog. Or maybe Pekora. ⬆⬇⬆⬇⬆⬇

Honestly, this has cleared alot for me :D
Lyds cyberbarf glasses is such a perfect addition to this channel’s lore 👍
13:36 Korone! Yubi Yubi!
15:20 I appreciate that in two of Tom's Halloween videos in a row someone's mentioned that Titanic scene
Lydia's London voice is great. And then channelling Bouphe was also great.
I love Tom's anime voice and would definitely like to hear more :)
Yes Lydia! Flipping love Poirot. The curse of the pharaoh with the shadow of the Anubis on the tent, freaked me out as a child!
Thanks for joining, Lydia!
The scariest one was actually when Lydia was clearing her throat. 😱
Gotta say, love the spookypop intro theme for the Tom & Lydia.
It's a real bopper
a part of me wants to sit Tom down and explain Hololive to him, the other part knows it would bore him to death
Sometimes you don't need to explain a lot to get someone interested
Woah, that opening music was banging. Reminded me of the Sinking City openings a bit lol
The bells so you cant chase birds... Gets a really different meaning when its tom chasing "birds"
so i actively thought the train noises were someone behind me LMAO
The editing in these videos is *chef’s kiss*
The QR code Rick rolled me!!! 😂
Just in case anyone was wondering, the intro music at the start of the video is... So Addictive - By Matt Large
If you're looking for PT, maybe ask Yogscast Kim? Her and Hannah played it when it first came out and maybe they still have their copy?
Dude the Warhammer bit at the end was the best part.
Its so hard to be scared of the spookums knowing how absolutely goofy all these people are.

well that was certainly a game!

between them, i vote 9:39 to be their best scary voice for the 19:50 jump scare
I am curious Lydia, since you mentioned nursery rhymes spook you what about the Nightmare on Elm Street nursery rhyme?
Do you remember that rhyme?
1, 2 Freddy's come for you, 3, 4 better lock your door, 5, 6 grab your crucifix, 7, 8 gonna stay up late, 9, 10 never sleep again.
Doesn't matter to me how weirdly bad the game is, always enjoy Tom and Lydia!
Josh should have edited the creepy face with the Wilhelm scream
it took korone saying "yuka" for me to realize it's okayu backwards. like the SECOND she spoke it all clicked
Oh right, in Japanese it is. o ka yu becomes yu ka o. They left out the o but sure.
Hiho, hiho, deeper down the hole he goes

10:09 Hi Bouphe!
19:06 Fatal Frame?
Goddamn you for that rickroll Josh!
