Agreed. We must not water down the word of God to please people (including ourselves)... If God hates sin, so must we. :-)
how do you have confidence in Christ when I'm depressed all the time
In order to be depressed, you had to agree with the devil to be depressed. Satan cannot afflict us with any malady unless we agree to it. Your free will which God has given us, is very powerful. You have agreed with your will to be depressed.
Repent and agree with Christ that the Joy of the LORD is your strength. Joy is already inside of you if you are born of the Spirit of God. Be Joyful... no demon can make you stay depressed. Write down a list of every good thing in your life and begin thanking God.
Did you wake up? Are you in your right mind? Does your body have strength? Do your hands work? Can you see? Can you hear? Can you get up and go for a drive? Can you go and get a good bite to eat? Can you sit down and watch a sunset? Can you watch a funny movie that makes you laugh? Can you enjoy a nice warm shower? Can you enjoy a nice drink of water when you feel thirsty?

People in hell cannot do Any of those things. All the wonderful things that we take for granted are gifts from God... but in there is Nothing good. None of God's goodness is in hell 😢
I once was so very depressed. I was fixated on myself all the time. All of my thoughts were about me. When I began to take notice of all of the things that I should be thankful for, and when I also decided to think about others... the depression began to subside. I never took any pills. Pills cannot help me. The problem is, I have to take control of my thoughts
I began volunteering at a women's shelter, and looking for opportunities to serve others... it is Impossible to be depressed, when you spend your time... helping someone else.
There is always someone worse off than you. Ask God to show you different ways that you can be a blessing to someone... also be sure to read the Word of God. People who read the Bible at least 5 times a week, feel less lonely, and less depressed. Statistics showed that
