I learned only a couple of weeks ago that MJ and his brothers actually studied kung fu and that MJ also took martial arts lessons from his friend and bodyguard Matt Fiddes. Fiddes also said that MJ already had a black belt, but I'm not sure in what martial art this actually was. He said this recently on the Dodge Woodall podcast.

I WAS EXPECTING MORE! I hope you do more videos analyzing MJ's performances showcasing his stances and flexibility and motion, and how it resembles Karate fighters. From what I've heard, MJ was a big time Bruce Lee fan. Man! 15 years after his death, and I just can't stop thinking about this legend. 😭❤️

Lol NO Michael Jackson does not even kick remotely close to black belt level!!! I have never seen in my life a black belt throw some kind of off-balance front kick and then continue to lift their foot up into the air. Let’s take a look at that more closely his kick is not a continuous motion he chambers and snapped his foot forward lift his leg up into the air while holding onto the pool table. Not to mention that there’s absolutely zero power in that.

This is so funny! Just a few days ago i came up with the idea that if MJ and Bruce Lee had been contemporary, the latter would have took a lot of inspiration from the king of pop.

100% Disagree. You can in fact, have Devastating power, from a deeply bent Back Knee... and no need to Tilt the hip. This kick is the literal Trademark of Wing Chun... and I am Masterclass level at it. Why dont YOU have power with it? Because your bent post leg, has not been properly strengthened, with Long Stance sessions in it (developing Super-Strong tendons / joints), and Physical Stress Tests (kicking solid targets like Wall mounted Sandbags, rather than soft kick bags that easily move with the mere pressure of a single Finger).
One time a sport competing martial artists, said that Wing Chun was Sh*T, and so was I... At that point, I decided to give him a little Taste of what I always was holding back (and trust me, I did warn him about it, in the past sessions). He took a single step towards me.. starting to throw a Cross. As his lead legs foot planed on the ground... its kneecap area was met by my LEAD LEG thrown (short range) Oblique kick. The fighter went down like a bag of Rocks.. and started SCREAMING at the top of his lungs... crying a river of tears. Mind you... I only put about 10 to 15% on that kick. I was also only like 150 lbs, and was sparring an experienced fighter, that was almost double my mass, and strength.
The result? It took about 5 minutes before the guy was able to be helped up by two other men, hopping on one leg, back to his car. When he got home, his knee swelled up like a melon.. and he was unable to place any weight on it for quite some time. He told me, that it took an entire MONTH, to fully recover from the resulting injury. Of course, I apologized.. both right after it happened.. and again when he relayed what transpired. I didnt feel that good about it, despite the heavy Disrespect.
How did I train my Kick so powerful? I put on a pair of Hard Leather Bottomed dress shoes.. and Heel+Instep kicked the thick Tree on the front lawn. Four non-stop 15 minute Sets. Every kick, being as FAST and POWERFUL as possible.. without reducing speed nor impact intensity, throughout the entire set length. Two sets from the REAR leg positions... and Two sets from the LEAD leg positions. I did this every other day.. for like 2 to 3 consecutive months... to reach such a crippling level.
My kick speed probably doubled in the first 3 weeks. And my impact potentials, went off the charts.. especially my Close range Lead leg kicks. I probably have more impact potentials in my Lead leg kicks... than many fighters have from their Rear leg kicks... due to such training methods.
Note, that during the entire 4 sets.. I maintain a deeply bent knee.. where the post legs knees, are directly over the toes, at ALL times. Of course, since the correct Wing Chun training.. has you standing in such as stance for most of the entire class... and I was training hardcore outside of classes... I had already long since developed the proper Tendon Strength... to be able to stand comfortably in such a position for an entire Hour... and also, of course... to be able to make a Heavy Kick impact, without any "self-absorption".
Self absorption tends to happen, when you have never fully stressed your body enough... and you have weaknesses that Fold under impact pressured. A prime example, is weak wrists, that buckle with a strong punch. If you are too used to having your wrists supported via Tape... then when that tape is removed.. you likely may experience such a structural failure, on heavy impacts.

wing chun is a very effective ‘kicking style’. in fact, if performed correctly and according to internal principles of wing chun the wing chun kicks cannot be blocked, no matter were you aim (knee, abdomen, chest etc). However, what I saw in this video doesn’t contradict the wing chun mechanics of kicking. on the contrary actually, it’s the same mechanics. What this sensei explains makes a lot of sense, I got quite a very pleasent surprise.

@@ttx3 Ive studied WC, for a very long time. In fact.. I studied under 3 different teachers, from 3 different lineages.
The reason why you Think the way that you do... is because you clearly do not understand "Internal" based Wing Chun.. and have never fully Mastered WC's methods.
Firstly, lets Dispel the Unblockable kicks comment. Thats a bunch of Hot Nonsense. Wing Chun itself, has a very robust "Leg-Fencing" system... allowing you to defend against kicks. There are many Chinese arts that have similar methods. And in fact, a lot of the modern sportized arts came from arts that likely USED to have such methods as well... but were Lost due to corruptions.
Unfortunately, a lot of WC practitioners dont even know the Leg Fencing methods... because most people never train in the art long enough to attain its knowledge. These methods SHOULD be taught much earlier.. to give students the proper tools, in order to actually be able to compete against sport fighters. As without such knowledge.. any basic Muay Thai kicks will likely easily take out a WC practitioner.
Next... lets talk about Training Differences, and "Mastery".
Many people that train in WC... they often rarely have any real power in their strikes... especially at close ranges (under 6 inches). Why? Because they only spend enough time and efforts, into developing 1ft distance punches. They rarely ever work on developing short range power... despite the entire art actually being centered on its methods and uses.
I can hit with more impact potentials, in less than 6 inches of travel.. than many WC practitioners can develop in their foot long runways.
The same for the kicks. I trained my kicks.. by putting on hard leather bottomed dress shoes, and kicking a thick tree in my front lawn. Four 15 minute non-stop sets. Each kick, as fast and as Powerful as possible... and maintaining the same speed , acceleration, and impact potentials, throughout the entire set duration. Each impact so heavy, as to cause stinging pains in the foot. Two sets from the Rear leg positions... and Two sets from the short range LEAD leg positions. Less than 3 minutes of rest between each set.
So, thats a full hour of nearly nonstop kicking... at full intensity levels, on a rock solid target. I did this every other day, for several months, in order to reach Masterclass level output in my kicks (in addition to a lot of other training too).
Eventually I built an Indoor Kick dummy, using three 7ft long, 4" diameter, Metal Poles (schd 40 / almost 1cm wall thickness).
I developed more impact potentials from my short range Lead leg kicks... than many fighters have from their Rear leg kicks.
Yes, these kicks are lightning fast, and devastatingly powerful when developed to Masterclass levels... but to say that they are unblockable? No. Its just that many modern sport fighters lack the training tools to be able to deal with Low kicks aimed directly at their knees.
I will also add, that if your WC punches are not Internal based, developing high level Fajin expression... then you have not really learned nor understood, the real Wing Chun methods. One should be able to easily develop reliable KO level forces, from less than 6 inches of space... using like 15% of what you are capable of delivering. At masterclass levels, one should have LEATHAL level handstrikes, with less than 2 inches of runway, using 100% full power releases. But again... 99% of the WC dudes out there.. dont even have reliable KO level forces, from a full foot of distance.. because they are poor practitioners, that do not train long enough, hard enough, nor train anything to full mastery.

@@ttx3 Lineage is just the starting point, dude. Just because someone may have studied under the perceived "Best" lineage, doesnt mean they are an effective fighter, at Masterclass levels of potentials. As Ive said... Do YOU have lethal inch power potentials? How many sport fighters have you KO'd, in heavy sparring matches?
I used to spar regularly against other arts... often against dudes that were nearly 2x my own mass and strength. Many of these fighters, competed regularly... including some Kyokushin Karate dudes + an instructor (and their Comps only stop, for KOs, and or Broken Bones).
How about you? Have YOU ever sparred such skilled sport fighters, regularly? Sparred well outside of your weight / strength class? Highly Doubtful. Most WC players, are full of Fantasy... not actual Combat Experience.
My first teacher was Steve Lee Swift. He had ties to training under a few different Sifu's in Hong Kong. I later trained under a Sifu that had trained under Moy Yot, as well as under Benny Meng. Eventually I started to learn an Elder form of WC, called Hung Fi Yi, from a different teacher.
All of that said... Ive also learned even more, from other WC branches, and other Chinese arts resources, from various other sources... such as videos, and or touching hands / sparring against these other arts practitioners.
Do you even practice the "Three Prayers to Buddha" section in the first form, in slow motion? (the way it was designed and intended?!) That section alone, should take about 16 minutes to complete. Most foolish WC practitioners, dont know this Somewhat Secret Internal Training method within the first form. They speed right through it... and they dont keep repeating the form, for the required 1hr session lengths... to be able to develop TRUE internal power benefits (which include, developing Super-Tendon strength).
In fact, most WC people dont even know the proper Chinese Breathing methods, that increase ones potentials (both Striking, and well beyond that).
Even worse.. are the WC practitioners and teachers, with wide-Spread fingers, and a hanging-thumb. Anyone with a few heavy / full contact sparring matches under their belts, will know exactly why. Those spread fingers, and hanging thumb... will get caught on clothing, and or get wrenched backwards.. hyper-extending, from accidentally getting impacted from the OPs limbs.
But the actual worst practice of many WC players, is when they put ANY mass over their lead legs. Makes it very easy to target their kneecaps, well before they can de-weight and be able to move their legs out of the way. Also makes them easy to Sweep off their feet, with simply leg sweeps.
All of my former teachers had various things of great value, to teach me. However, its unlikely that Any of them would actually be able to defeat me as a fighter. Thats because Lineage and Knowledge, are only one factor. None of them had developed their methods to Masterclass level in their abilities. And most of them rarely ever sparred against other artists. They were good teachers.. but nowhere near high level combat fighters. And certainly, nowhere near my own level of Combat Mastery.

I think it's because we're told not to move up, because then some of the force will be directed up. Instead we should keep the same height and that way the force will be directed forward toward your opponent (uke). Front kick (mae geri) looks really easy, but still after several years of training I think I can still improve it.

What you say is correct for a Kumité fight, but not correct for Kata. In Kata you HAVE TO do the "incorrect" form you show, because in a self-defense scenario, you don't have the range to fully extend, so you bend your upper body and tuck your chin to be able to deliver the kick at that close range.
