Which version do you like better, Europe 72 or Cornell 77?

I like the speed of 72, but the color and jazz of Cornell

Cornell version is like butter. My favorite version, but both are great.

Those two albums are just amazing. The dead at their greatest moments. Equally great.

I'm relatively new to the Dead. I checked them out for the first time maybe 5 years ago, but now I'm becoming obsessed. This is great.

Fall of '79 is where it's at. '72-74 also. '77 also.

Check out the Michael Palmisano series on Cornell 77. Good stuff and analysis of Jerry Targeting the 3rds of the chords.

The BEW from 5/9/77 is also incredible- the raspiness of the aluminium necked Travis Bean TB500 guitar, and Jerry's rippin' country style, for the win.

You're a great musician, man. Excellent teacher, as well. I haven't found another Dead-focused guitar teacher online who explains so clearly, and straight forward. A lot of guitar players over complicate their approach with some things, but you explain all these things in a chill way that's easy to understand. Very wide awareness you have in that regard. The spirit of the music translates over into the way you teach, and explain all this music. The Grateful Dead music is so much more complicated than people give it credit for . Bravo, man! Enjoy all these videos and am always learning more ✌

@@JeffWilliamsGuitar Absolutely man, look forward to more videos to come! Just jammed along to your Dark Star backing track the other day, and it had a really cool rhythm to it that was different than what I'm used to. Did the dead ever play it that way?

@@blueishpurple Yeah, I kinda pulled the groove from this Winterland version: th-cam.com/video/AlWqitKLnfs/w-d-xo.html
I found it easier to program the drums like that. Definitely gonna redo it soon though with a real drummer so we can get a looser feel.

Honestly good advice, don’t think to hard about what scale or box your in if it sounds good

Those two shows are probably the best representation of the Dead on great night. Even though they are a mixture of dates cut together, those moments capture the band at their best. Third in line would be 1991 show with the amazing Peggy o

Jerry's solos sound so simple, but there are all these little nuances in his playing that make it difficult...

I guess you gotta check out John Mayer's treatment of it which is largely without a pick.

Oops! I was planning making it public this weekend, but looks like I accidently put it on an end card. You got the early bird special for watching the backing track to the end!
