    Were there campsite fees on any of the 3 trails?

    You know I forgot to mention, this is the only loop of the 3 I haven't done.

      Probably the least interesting, but it was still pretty good. You going to do all 3 in 3 days? Mark will probably give you a sticker.

      Ultimate Direction Meltzer model and a Ribzpack for me. Works great and keeps the weight off the hips.

    Mule like going up hill. Also you make foot print in trail, that not leave no trace bruh

    I dislike this video because you’re pushing the “triple crown” concept to entice viewers onto two Michigan trails that are already way overused, and one nearby that hikers wanting a loop were trying to keep quiet, so it didn’t become the MRT, in terms of traffic.
    I’d like to see the channel focus on areas where a visit wouldn’t result in additional impact to already overused areas.
    You guys aren’t local so you probably don’t have a feel for what’s going on along these trails. Once the season hits in full stride, it’s a zoo out there, esp. on the MRT. Impact in terms of overuse and trash left behind are clearly visible.
    You guys could be part of the solution by coming up with new routes, rather than combining higher-use areas into a package deal.

      I must say that I understand where you're coming from, the trails are for everyone to enjoy and share. Awareness of LNT and education on trails is more important than traffic levels.

    • @wanderingkenknight
      @wanderingkenknight 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s the contrived nature of this that’s not good. As Sndy notes these trails, especially the MRT, get abused so making a media event, akin to Instagram special spots , is not really good.
      By all means if you want to tackle these loops as a 3 day challenge do so but don’t blow it up to simply drive traffic to it or you imply you’ve done something special and rare so others should too.

    • @andymytys
      @andymytys 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Backpacking with Buckley part of LNT is also related to impact. When you have over 300 people on a trail over a given weekend, it might be better to choose another trail. That much foot traffic alone adds to the erosion and maintenance woes along these trails. You can see that impact along the MRT loop, for sure.
      Unfortunately, the resources aren’t in place to mandate a permit system with daily caps. But that’s what’s needed along sat the MRT, and without a permit system attracting more visitors, LNT or not, isn’t helpful.

      @@andymytys I appreciate your passion for this. I can't argue your points but it is a tough subject for a reason. Public lands are for all of us to discover and enjoy but that doesn't mean your points are not understood.

    • @BackcountryPilgrim

      While we were out of towners, the creator of the TC was not - he's pure Michigan all the way and well aware of LNT. However, the MRT is on All Trails, so it's not exactly a secret (and if you're hiking in Michigan, how many other good 20 mile loops are there? We ran into a guy who drove 4 hrs to hike this trail!).
