Definitely a time and place to rescue gear/people. Also important to know your own skills and whether you can help a situation or may make things worse. Sometimes just getting back to shore and letting authorities know can be the best option if someone is unsure if they can safely assist. I’m comfortable grabbing boards or people, but a kite with lines attached I’m a little less sure about since it could be hard to see all the lines. Either way, thanks for putting this together, great content!
As always: you give the correct answers to questions that everyone asks too late. If I ever meet you I will give you a good hug. You are just such a cool and humble guy. To the Community: buy his Videos! I did and they are really more than worth the money!
Great work and thanks for a lot of info to thinking about it! It’s remind me that moment at Balneario when I lose the control of my kite doing the heliloop and saw that you are coming to help and save my life 🙌 Now I’m know that I was in professional hands 😉🙏
I Remember that day in Tarifa, my brother! You were making your way through the rocks back to the beach. And I remember the night at the bar after that!) Felt so good to be a team. And I always knew, that you watched my back as well. Priceless.🤗
I've been rescued when caught in a tidal flow out to sea, and someone rescued my kite when it got loose when I forgot to release my leash and walking way too soon popped the chicken loop after I landed and hooked it up to an anchor. VERY great this tutorial ~ We need these kinds of seriously enabling tips and it really helps that the other kiters are such a great tribe for us ! SUPER STOKED ! I've done some beach tutorials for free and helped some NOOBS to get their minds right . LOVE THIS SPORT !!!
Nice video - and great reminder that as kiters we should help each other, rescues, wind, spot insights, launches and generally watching out for each other. One of the spots I go to has a decent number of people just out of the their lessons, so I have had to get people their boards when their body dragging is a bit weak. But it was HARD for me. Definitely going to practice my one handed starts - feels like an easy thing to master with a little practice.
Great video, helpful and a nice production quality as always. To my surprise when saving someone's hydrofoil it was actually fairly easy to sit on the hydrofoil with my twintip on my feet. I would keep front hand on the nose of the foil to control the pitch and use my twintip to slow down just by dragging the board on the water
))) Exactly! I've tried to do that, but I am not that good in foiling. Probably, I will improve and try again later. It seems so logical, actually, to ride a foil and carry a twintip!)
Great video, great as always. And most importantly, raising the serious topic of mutual assistance and readiness for it. That one day can save the life, health or equipment of a kiter. In my opinion, everything shown requires repeated training, and a sufficient level of skating - so as not to make it worse in an extreme situation.
Yes, I call everyone to practice those skills, shown in the video by any chance. Like carrying a board or trying to tow someones kite carefully starting from very low wind conditions. You are very true!!! Thank you!
Dragging the kiter back to the kite is a solid option I never considered. I'll probably try that out next time! I rescued a bunch of kites until I had a kite power up just as I was about to grab it and mess up my bar. There was debris in a wave that caught the bar and it de-flagged the kite. These days I figure my own safety and gear are more important than karma points, so unless it's really steady wind in fairly flat water (not 2m shore break) I'll usually just rescue the kiter.
And I just wanted to add another compliment to the Learning To Fly series, the information about stance is super valuable. So many kiters that are pretty good still think you need most of your weight on the back foot when riding.
Another amazing, useful video from you, Anton. No wonder your videos always have the most insane amount of views! Also, I see that it’s not only me who consider you as their hero. Like the others- I, too, feel so much safer when you are around. 🙈
So many things wrong with this video. First you should never try to grab any kite of you are in between the rider and the kite. Always use the outter side or opposite side of the lines as you well demonstrated by getting entangled on them. Secondly is far simpler to focus on the rider and bring him back if he uses is quick release. The effects of kite dragging while doing this are almost neglectable. And putting a ridder and drag him on their back it's not realistic due to the enormous strength you need to hold. By far the best way is to bodydrag with the board together with the other rider and chill and take your time. Using this method you can easily rescue 4 people, one kite and one board as I did many times in the south of Portugal. It's actually very relaxing and enjoyable for the people behind. Bless you for the offort though.

Hey, very interesting, thank you! Man, I have to try it. Just sitting on the hydrofoil deck? You did that in real life?
Sent you the IG message with my experience. Cheers

Great video! I’ve rescued my share of boards, but never a kite or kiter. I’ve always wondered how I would do it if I had to, and now I know! Thx!!!!

Dealing with another kite on the water is extremely dangerous, there is high possibility what you will also get into the trouble or spoil the gear...
You are right. However, after saving hudred of kites, maybe, I didn't have any accidents with that.
