thank you Driza i am ashamed to say i have had my Motif for 3 years now and i have just been playing in song mode but i have been running into walls the pattering mode has been hard to over come. i just got a tascam recorder now i am inspired to find out about the tec part your video has help me a lot.
Hi, if I load a VOICE with sampled components, such as Organ Session, when I turn off the keyboard I cancel the samples causing the VOICE not to work? If I put this VOICE in a PERFORMANCE, do I only lose in real time volume controls (drowbars effect) or also the samples? So the solution is to put the usb stick in AUTOLOAD and always load the samples every time the keyboard is turned on? Thank you
i have problems to use my Mc 707 with my new toy Yamaha Motif 7 , i only want to use the Motif as a soundmodule in 16 parts midi multitimbral setup, how to do this?
Our band needs a drummer and we were thinking of how can we use the Motif as a drum backing track, I was thinking on importing full MIDI songs in it and we can play along with them. How easy is it to control it in case we need to loop some parts?
make sure you press the mix button. then press the store button. then press the increase/yes button to store the mix. then just save your file again. like an all song or all pattern file. yep.
Hi Adrian, Thanks for your great videos on the Motif ES... you provide great content and at a nice pace... much appreciated! I have a question for you... I am new to the Yamaha series equipment and have been struggling to find out, what should be a fairly simple task, how to do a bank change from an external sequencer to a Motif. I can do it with no problem on my Alesis and my old Kurzweil, but just no luck with my new MoXF8. Yamaha uses terms like MSB Bank and LSB Bank... I understand what that means when talking binary numbers, but not in terms of a bank change :) Basically, what I like to do is develop my sequences on an old Kawai sequencer because I know my around it pretty well. I use individual tracks to control the keyboard typically sending it a Bank change followed by a Program Change for each track. This allows we to setup the bass guitar on track 1, piano on track 2, guitar on track 3, etc. But as you know, most keyboards have several sounds within a bank, so it is important to be able to select these banks from a MIDI command. For example, on my Alesis, I can send a Control 000 then followed by the bank number. If I send it Control 000 001 It will go to the first bank. If I send it Control 000 002, it goes to the second bank. I then save this info within a song so that it is all simply recalled when I load/play the song at a later time. Do you know what Control number is needed for the Motif? And what mode the Motif needs to be in to receive this change? Thanks a bunch!
thanks for hitting me up Frankie! you may want to check out www.motifator.com or www.motifcity.com for that question. they have some real in dept answers dealing with stuff like that on there. thanks and God bless.
Thanks Adrian... I found my answer... to do a Bank change, you have to send it two commands prior to a Program change. This is not like any of the other systems I have worked with, in which you can do a Bank change simply by sending it one Control command followed by the Bank number. In regards to Yamaha, if you send only one of the Bank Control commands, it will not change. You have to send both Control commands followed by a Program change. When this sequence is followed, the Bank changes. Here is an example of the commands I need to put in my external sequencer (and in this order): Control 000 063 (which is the MSB) Control 032 000 (which is the LSB) Program 007 At this point, the MoXF8 switches to PRE1, program 8 House Piano (I had to subtract 1 from the program chart because my sequencer starts at 0 and the chart starts at 1). That did the trick... Thanks for responding! FrankieG
Hello Adrian Stewart- Can you please do a video on retrieving recordings from a smart media card. I've done recordings on mine and can't seem to remember how to get my recordings to play. Thanks or if any other Motif ES users can chime in please! Thanks!
well, one way is if you have the ram installed on your motif es, you can resample your pattern or song into a wave file, and then save the wave file on your smart media card or flash drive that you may have connected. then just transfer that file to your computer. the process is a lot for me to type out, but I still have my motif es audio mp3 tutorials where I tell how to do it. if interested just hit me up at my email driza17@att.net. my website is not up right now, but I still have my pay pal. yep. piece and God bless!
if you want any of your songs or patterns to play back on your motif, you would have had to save them either as an all file or an all song or all pattern file on the f2 save screen first. then if you wanted to load those files back up, you just load the all file or all song or pattern file on the f3 load screen. this of course depends on what you saved to in the first place , a smart media card or a usb flash drive. yep! sorry it took me so long to respond back, was in the process of moving then. lol! holla back if anymore questions! yep! peace and God bless!
if you made your songs on the motif you have to save them as an all song or all pattern file, and then load them back up as an all song or all pattern file.
also you have to have the motif ram installed so you can be able to resample your beat as a wave file and able to save it as a wave on your flash drive or smart media card. assuming you don't track out the beat.
you also you have to have the ram installed if you want to load up wave or aiff files on the motif as well. or if you're doing any type of sampling on there. yep!
totoally blind user here. just have to follow the button presses that I'm saying.yep. already f a bonus for seeing folk who can see the actual screen. yep.
Thank you Driza for your assistance. Your time and knowledge are greatly appreciated.

Does it need a computer to work. Also so you have a good hammond b3 sound and grand piano sounds

Going too fast, not showing the LCD when you do things. Helpful for others I guess who know the basics like you obviously do.
