The WORST AEW Signings Ever

- AEW have signed many wrestlers in its 5 year history. Some of them do very well and are assets to the company, others maybe dont meet expectations but a select few, were seemingly signed for no purpose whatsoever and AEW had no reason to sign. Today we’re gonna discuss AEW signings who truly added nothing to AEW and I just don’t get for what reason they were signed.

"B-b-but parker Bordeaux was gonna be the next Brock Lesnar."
Dude looks terrible.
Dude not even built 😂
Not looking like a bag of milk he’s not
@@thejkyle🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
According to Vince, genius.
Parker and Brock lesnar have blonde hair, bad tattoos and that’s about the only similarities 😂
And a face that looks like it got impact damage from all the running into walls like a damn Kool-Aid jug
Brock's tattoos suit his look though
All tattoos look bad
parker doesn't have a weak stomach and doesn't tap out to a kneebar every time and has at least 0.06 standup game leaving him 0.06 above lesnar to be fair.
You know the worst thing about some of these signings? They’re comprised of either ex-WWE talent or other popular talent. And Tony Khan only hired them just to get a cheap reaction.
Soooo what was WWE doing then hiring Jon Moxley, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and all these popular guys that made their name elsewhere? And it's not new at all. Jericho, Benoit, Eddie, even OLDER then that there's Hulk Hogan for christ sakes. The original face of the WWF was poached from another company originally because he became popular and McMahon saw him as a draw... God damn I refuse to believe you are actually THAT dumb.
comprised of either ex-WWE talent or other popular talent...........uh yeah, where else are they coming from, Mars?? lol Really???
Hey atleast aew has Okada now

The AEW roster is ridiculously large. Wrestlers pop up, then just disappear.
I think they should either eliminate 30 percent of their roster or make "Rampage" a 2-hour program. Those are the only two possible ways they'd be able to get everyone on camera each week.
@@SeasideDetective2 They have 150 people on their roster, 2nd hour wouldn't save all 50 wrestler
Losing the YT shows has made that worse, cuz at least you'd see them now & then on Dark/Elevation. Now, they're just on a shelf.
Too many stars, too many with main event dreamers.
Miro Ethan page and so many more. Hell even wardlow Hobbs cage archer etc too
Those shitty tattoos ruined Parkers look

True, the arm sleeves were fine but the neck ones are just too much.
All tattoos look shitty.

Yeah what was the point of signing Ric Flair to a multi year deal if he was only gonna be in the company during the last few months of Sting’s career. What are they gonna do with Ric now, make him a manager to another wrestler or something
Ric needs to stay retired
I think tried using Ric to make Andrade stay in AEW.
It failed.
Ric is just gonna sit at home and get paid for the next year and a half
@@robdurfee6861AEW isn't even paying him. His Wooo energy is.
Yes.
AEW: We're not like WWE, we have morals!
Also AEW: Have people forgotten about that Dark Side of the Ring ep by now? Cool, let's hire Ric Flair!
Kinda different than collaborating with the country that killed Kashoggi
There are few things more detrimental to a wrestlers early career than being saddled with the pressure of being labeled "The Next (Insert Popular Wrestler)" before they've even done anything.
For tag teams, it's being announced as "The New _(insert name of classic tag team)_ ". Instant death.
My pick: Jake Hager; that dude gets paid (presumably) a few million a year to stand in the background wearing goofy outfits. He's a former champion from WWE and a former MMA fighter, yet that's the best they use him?
If I was being paid millions to stand around backstage, I would be happy with whatever they tell me to do. Not really a good comparison, but Goldust and Booker T did the same
@@alternative7586 yeah me too; the criticism is on Tony, not Jake. Jake has found a fountain of eternal wealth, pretty much
Hager is the absolute shits. All he can do is stand around looking goofy
He’s there to carry Jericho’s bags

We do but also we don't and I say that because I guarantee it'll be just like this one, 3 entrees in 9 and a half minutes.

1. Why isn't Boudreaux in the Mogul Embassy? He was a Mogul Affiliate, so they might as well keep using him alongside Swerve.
2. The Nightmare Collective was a bad idea from the beginning. Why would a heel faction be explicitly affiliated with a face faction?
3. I remember seeing Flair on TV for the first time since the '80s and thinking, "Boy, does he look old." That was in 2006.
My brother called Parker Boudreaux "Feux-Lesnar" and i lost my shit.
No he didn’t. And no you didn’t.

Rick Flair was honestly the worst signing they just got him there for the views like what is a dinosaur doing there!??🤨
Marko stunt is the worst ever
As someone with a different look to pad out the roster early on it wasn't awful.
As more credible wrestlers appeared it was definitely right to phase him out though.
Cool manager to the Jurassic Express, not a good take
Sadly he wrestled too
Hot take: Big Swole
Pretty standard take I'd say
She sucked. Should've improved
Disagree here.
Swole was a standout indie talent. Thing is, most indie wrestlers don't wrestle in front of a live camera. She has the talent and physical toughness but a disease that makes it tough to even walk on a good day completely hurts your chances. Also, there was an unnecessary dog pile after she called out TK for things that were valid. Representation in AEW was limited in the main title scene. Jade only won the secondary women's title b.c no one cares about the TBs title still
@@singerdude1992Swole did wrestle in front of cameras before the company was even founded…
3:53 I know Trench, but I haven’t seen him in a long while either.
8:01 The most hypocritical signing in AEW history.
Trench got released last year at some point.
@@Rickbeast001 I know that, but where has he been after that? Did he fall off the radar?
The most hypocritical signing in AEW history is that former WWE/soap opera writer they hired recently to appease Sasha Banks. Remember when AEW started they said they weren't going to hire television writers? Sounds pretty hypocritical to me.
@@rayedmonds6108thats a good decision they need more writers. Someone has to streamline the stories after all
@@kidz4p509 more than likely, but I really don't care enough to google search "where is Trench from AEW"
And the newest, worst signing is that brat Mercedes.
Surprised this video isn’t an hour long with the number of bad AEW signings
Yeah damn near half the roster now and was worse in the beginning
I completely forgot parker Bordeaux was in AEW
For Ric, not even Andrade is there anymore
I still say Brandi Rhodes is the worst AEW signing ever
Is there a single thing she did that was somewhat important or?
I honestly think one of the factors in signing Flair to a multi year deal is in the chance he dies during that time it will be reported partly as "AEW talent Ric Flair passes away". Then they can have the official Ric Flair tribute night and all that jazz.
No way 😂😂😂😂😂
Tony desperately needs "legends" and since the company exists for, like, 6 years, they don't really have any that spent the bigger part of their career there. No history, no footage, no surprise appearences. He knows that nostalgia is a huge factor for older wrestling fans when they decide which product they want to watch, no matter how much he believes that there are definitely millions of fans of "the sport of professhonal rasslin' " that just haven't heard of these two random Mexican guys who did 50 flips in one match and got rewarded 5 stars from sweaty Dave who appeared on Collision or Rampage. He wants to HAVE stars, not to build them with good booking.
It's also funny that Sting aside, their only "legends" are Brodie Lee, who was there only for a cup of coffee before his death and got a god-like tribute show despite winning only a secondary belt once and dropping it after a single defence and Owen Hart, whose only connection to the company was that his wife agreed on a deal with Tony so he can use his likeness.
The worst signings are the ones like mercedes mone and okada because they are overpaid and will only be wasted
Wtf you on lil bro lol
@@pr12rhodesgraveyard26 tell me what is so great about Mercedes mone? She's full of herself, thinking she's just amazing and she hasn't done a thing. Why should I like her?
And what is special about that weak little short arm clothesline Okada does? It doesn't look good. Why should I like him?
Tell me a single signing for AEW who hasn't been wasted. Then tell me another. Can you name another? They're all overpaid and booked into oblivion.
I've heard that AEW has been completely wasting & misusing Keira Hogan. Hope to see her back in TNA, hopefully, when her deal is up, & see Fire 'N' Flava reunion.
Bro I wish I would find an energy drink with Rick Flair on it. Truth is I've NEVER seen that. Where were they selling that?!

When Parker Bourdeaux was in NXT people said he was the next Brock Lesnar and I said he would have been if they booked him like Brock Lesnar. That same statement applies to AEW.
He would've been if he actually took the time to learn. Brock was booked like a top guy from the day he walked in and he busted his ass like a top guy from the start. Parker didn't put in the effort.
The thing is he doesnt have the physique or athleticism prime Brock did. That's what made Brock special. He was a freakish athlete who had the perfect mouthpiece in Paul Heyman. That's not easy to duplicate. Unlikely the dude ever gets over unless he picks his game up significantly.
@@coltonwilkie241he was thrown into NXT TV with little training then he got fired he almost immediately signed with AEW. What do you expect?

@@ltheisen3327 Brock was given time, Parker wasn't!
A lot of the signings seem to be for that “cheap pop”….
The majority don’t go onto anything meaningful ..
Feel like it wouldn’t be such a clustered mess if Tony could just properly create an AEW roster and ROH roster and have both brands far away from one another
I was saying that back in the Dark/Elevation days.
I think Dark can be closer but have it set up like a tournament where like once a month the "champ" or top ranked guy earns a Dynamite match. The announcers would make a big deal about how many opponents this person defeated to earn their shot on Dynamite. Show clips of them smashing people on Dark. Then you're actually promoting Dark on Dynamite and giving it a reason to exist besides "well there's some other matches I guess"
Then they never did that of course but started Elevation which had no purpose at all either...
Like seriously just organize this shit a little bit...
I'm no wrestling booker but I feel like I could improve the whole company massively just by giving each show a reason to exist and having someone make sure everyone had SOME kind of angle going on, even if it was just "hey I'm here to smash people and I'm gunning for the TNT title man!"
Back in the day TNA signed biggest super stars who actually made impact (no pun intended) - Kurt Angle,RVD,Jeff Hardy , Christian , Bobby Lashley etc
AEW signs a bunch of shitty wrestlers and jobbers from WWE and call them 'Stars'
Parker believed the hype, but stopped believing in the gym.
Imagine if Brock Lesnar signed with AEW.
Cheap reaction.
He'd probably ask for his release a day after making his debut.
Wouldn't be surprised if Tony Kahn went out of his way to get Brock in AEW. Like this is the same guy who signed Ric Flair to a multi year contract
He won’t sign with that trash ass company
They'd probably do something completely ridiculous and have him job out to Orange Cassidy.
The Flair signing is ridiculous. He constantly makes a fool of himself inside and outside the ring.
AEW gonna fall
It’s Sonny kiss for me … like who was the exact audience for his type of performance.?
There's plenty of gender confused fans in the AEW fanbase much like Sonny.
Scrap the undisputed kingdom. A pointless faction.
Sarayas brother
Miro, Matt Hardy Jeff Hardy, Sonny Kiss, Joey Janella. I know there are others but these names were at the top of my head.
Don't forget Miro's (now ex) wife. Whatever money TK spent on her he could have placed in a trash can and burned and it would have had the exact same impact on his business.

So many failed or simply poor signings that there will be parts 2-20 of this. Looking forward to it.
you've got Flair, Anderson and Tully Blanchard, Four Managers of the Apocalypse?
Marko Stunt was a rad dude and a fun guy.
He could also get beaten up by a fourth grader.
He can take a bump though, I remember Brodie Lee and Lance Archer absolutely destroying him 😂
I remember those matches and watching him get thrown around like a rag doll was high comedy.
Funny little man
WOOOO WINGS!
Tony just creates stable after stable with 0 direction.
Then when they get stale, he combines stables randomly.
The fact that Boudreaux's physique looks noticably different in every picture here, would make me extremely hesitant to consider hiring him for a job that requires reliable physical performances. That's never a good sign for a professional athlete. It's not like the pics were taken over a twenty-year period and he's in his forties.
Genius idea to hire a failed football player who had to give up his sport because of concussion issues - and can't wrestle for sh!t - to attempt to make him a Lesnar-style pro wrestler... What could _possibly_ go wrong, right? I swear, the wrestling business is run by the absolute dumbest people on Earth.
Also, when has Heyman ever had any idea how to scout new undeveloped talent? He has always just latched on to people who were already pretty good at what they were doing, to further his own interests. The "Heyman guys" thing is one of the biggest fake myths in pro wrestling.
Taya Valkyrie, Johnny TV (John Morrison), Allie (The Bunny), etc.
Allie was released last year and Johnny/Taya are on a feud with Dalton Castle on ROH
1: Honestly thought Trench was going to be the guy being slagged here and not Boudreaux. I rather enjoyed the Trustbusters on Dark and didn't see why AEW couldn't get more out of them. But Trench? Never understood that signing or what value he was meant to add at all. Boudreaux looked to have potential. But even Trench's name sounded random and nonsensical.
2: That whole aftermath of the Nightmare Collective irritated the heck out of me. Brandi's therapy story could have been a really good catalyst for the national conversation we need to have as a whole when it comes to mental health in this country. Instead the segments felt kind of haphazard and then that angle gets dropped out of the blue as well. Just so Brandi can suddenly be the dutiful wifey in the Cody ten lashes bit. I get that Mel and the Collective needed to go but they surely could have come up with something better that wasn't so hair-brained and seemingly panicky as what they did.
3: Flair may not have been my favorite legend signing but I don't see any reason he couldn't add value in the way former Horsemen mates Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson did if both sides so choose. I would have thought it better to pick on somebody more like say Jimmy Havoc who got Me Tooed and looked more that part than he ever had a professional wrestler.
He can do a part 2 with Trench, Paige Van Zant and CJ Perry
Worst one in AEW is Tony himself eh
Honestly hope guys like Malakai Black and Buddy Matthews are free from the clutches of AEW.
I hate how people like Meltzer who suck off Kahn blame Black and Matthews for not being booked, which is simply BS. Tony Kahn just didn’t know what to do with them and likely only signed them because LOL WWE REFUGEES!
What is worse however is that I cannot see them doing that much better in WWE, they are sadly being wasted so far in AEW (entire HOB stable could be booked better and stronger) but what will they do if they return to WWE? Buddy Matthews may be stuck in midcard, not winning a title, might become someone like Ricochet and Malakai might be involved in first few weeks/months and then be forgotten or stuck in midcard as well
@@michaelwasserbauer4177 Buddy M could be a potential Judgement Day member, and Black has an unfinished storyline as far as I’m concerned.
Buddy just isnt good. Hes got one of the most bland personalities ive ever seen
They signed a long contract, 5 or 7 years if I not wrong + the injury time so we won't see them for a very long time
Buddy should become a cuck type character who complains about a certain Dirty convict who's with his wife.
in hindsight CM Punk gotta be the worst AEW singing. constantly inured, was involved (whether he started it or not) in lots of drama and fights that just kept aew in a terrible loop and in the end just left in bad taste.
As i said for Hardy before, Punk is beyond washed, dude joined the fed again and got injured on the rumble too smh

Signing a 70-something year old Ric Flair is puzzling to me.
If he's mostly wrestling (and not as an authority figure or manager), then Tony Khan is out of his mind!
He's only there for his energy drink sponsorship.
he if Terry funk can still wrestle at the age of 79 why can't he and yes I know he is dead now but he was till wrestling before he died
@@coltonwilkie241still terrible signing
Well Tony is a Mark
So he could go on Sting's last run. That was explained. Also, Ric's drink company is paying both his salary and paying for promotion. WHY WOULD YOU NOT SIGN HIM???
Brock Lesnar's debut was explosive. If they can't get somewhere near that then there's no chance to create the next big thing.
Ric Flair would've made sense if it was for a short term deal...
Then again, he's probably never appearing again in WWE and there's a good chance AEW will still pay him to sit at home.

8:36 because TK has daddy's checkbook and can just throw millions around cuz he wants to sign all his favorite wrestlers. Once daddy takes his checkbook back, AEW will go under and go under hard
Out of the 200+ people on the AEW roster you could only come up with 3? Ill give TK the benefit of the doubt and say out of the 200 wrestlers on the roster he books around 24-30 each week between all 3 shows and no more than 50 unique wrestlers per month. The worst signing AEW ever did was at the very beginning when Tony Khan got into bed with the Middle Aged Bucks and Omega. Doomed the promotion from the start.
Want to know why AEW make dumb signings? Its 3 fold, Tony's an idiot who doesn't understand the business, they think ex WWE guys just mean money, not understanding you need to book them to make money, and thirdly its often to prevent WWE from signing an indie talent, they throw too much money at them, resulting in the company haemorrhaging money on pointless signings
