Yeah what was the point of signing Ric Flair to a multi year deal if he was only gonna be in the company during the last few months of Sting’s career. What are they gonna do with Ric now, make him a manager to another wrestler or something
There are few things more detrimental to a wrestlers early career than being saddled with the pressure of being labeled "The Next (Insert Popular Wrestler)" before they've even done anything.
My pick: Jake Hager; that dude gets paid (presumably) a few million a year to stand in the background wearing goofy outfits. He's a former champion from WWE and a former MMA fighter, yet that's the best they use him?
If I was being paid millions to stand around backstage, I would be happy with whatever they tell me to do. Not really a good comparison, but Goldust and Booker T did the same
1. Why isn't Boudreaux in the Mogul Embassy? He was a Mogul Affiliate, so they might as well keep using him alongside Swerve. 2. The Nightmare Collective was a bad idea from the beginning. Why would a heel faction be explicitly affiliated with a face faction? 3. I remember seeing Flair on TV for the first time since the '80s and thinking, "Boy, does he look old." That was in 2006.

I honestly think one of the factors in signing Flair to a multi year deal is in the chance he dies during that time it will be reported partly as "AEW talent Ric Flair passes away". Then they can have the official Ric Flair tribute night and all that jazz.
Tony desperately needs "legends" and since the company exists for, like, 6 years, they don't really have any that spent the bigger part of their career there. No history, no footage, no surprise appearences. He knows that nostalgia is a huge factor for older wrestling fans when they decide which product they want to watch, no matter how much he believes that there are definitely millions of fans of "the sport of professhonal rasslin' " that just haven't heard of these two random Mexican guys who did 50 flips in one match and got rewarded 5 stars from sweaty Dave who appeared on Collision or Rampage. He wants to HAVE stars, not to build them with good booking. It's also funny that Sting aside, their only "legends" are Brodie Lee, who was there only for a cup of coffee before his death and got a god-like tribute show despite winning only a secondary belt once and dropping it after a single defence and Owen Hart, whose only connection to the company was that his wife agreed on a deal with Tony so he can use his likeness.
The most hypocritical signing in AEW history is that former WWE/soap opera writer they hired recently to appease Sasha Banks. Remember when AEW started they said they weren't going to hire television writers? Sounds pretty hypocritical to me.

1: Honestly thought Trench was going to be the guy being slagged here and not Boudreaux. I rather enjoyed the Trustbusters on Dark and didn't see why AEW couldn't get more out of them. But Trench? Never understood that signing or what value he was meant to add at all. Boudreaux looked to have potential. But even Trench's name sounded random and nonsensical. 2: That whole aftermath of the Nightmare Collective irritated the heck out of me. Brandi's therapy story could have been a really good catalyst for the national conversation we need to have as a whole when it comes to mental health in this country. Instead the segments felt kind of haphazard and then that angle gets dropped out of the blue as well. Just so Brandi can suddenly be the dutiful wifey in the Cody ten lashes bit. I get that Mel and the Collective needed to go but they surely could have come up with something better that wasn't so hair-brained and seemingly panicky as what they did. 3: Flair may not have been my favorite legend signing but I don't see any reason he couldn't add value in the way former Horsemen mates Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson did if both sides so choose. I would have thought it better to pick on somebody more like say Jimmy Havoc who got Me Tooed and looked more that part than he ever had a professional wrestler.
The fact that Boudreaux's physique looks noticably different in every picture here, would make me extremely hesitant to consider hiring him for a job that requires reliable physical performances. That's never a good sign for a professional athlete. It's not like the pics were taken over a twenty-year period and he's in his forties. Genius idea to hire a failed football player who had to give up his sport because of concussion issues - and can't wrestle for sh!t - to attempt to make him a Lesnar-style pro wrestler... What could _possibly_ go wrong, right? I swear, the wrestling business is run by the absolute dumbest people on Earth. Also, when has Heyman ever had any idea how to scout new undeveloped talent? He has always just latched on to people who were already pretty good at what they were doing, to further his own interests. The "Heyman guys" thing is one of the biggest fake myths in pro wrestling.

Saraya I’m sorry her AEW run for me has been insanely mid to bad, that win for the title at All In was just for the easy hometown Pop just for her to drop it what a month later
Keith Lee. They screwed the pooch so bad with him. Still tragic to see him tumble down the ranks in WWE after his NXT run and then just get relegated to bad booking across two companies. What could have been....

Lee has been consistently injured. He hasn't been able to stay healthy otherwise they were gonna rocket him into a feud with swerve not long ago before he disappeared again.
Back in the day TNA signed biggest super stars who actually made impact (no pun intended) - Kurt Angle,RVD,Jeff Hardy , Christian , Bobby Lashley etc AEW signs a bunch of shitty wrestlers and jobbers from WWE and call them 'Stars'
Ricky Flair would not be a useless signing if they are also using his experience in the background to make AEW better. He could be a consultant and give private criticism, and give Tony Khan facts, which he doesn't like to hear publicly.

The next line of superstars would be Oba Femi, Jaida Parker, Lexi’s King, Lash Legend, Tiffany Stratton and Ilia Dragonov! The beat goes on! Ric Flair would've made sense if it was for a short term deal... Then again, he's probably never appearing again in WWE and there's a good chance AEW will still pay him to sit at home.
CM Punk. I mean yeah, he got a huge pop when he arrived. But his backstage brawl really messed up AEW both backstage and in terms of thier main title fights. Then he returned from his suspension, almost messed up their biggest PPV ever before leaving forever and after causing even more backstage trouble. Plus in the end all AEW achieved with the signing was to build him up for another run with their competition (which also didn't work out so far)
Honestly hope guys like Malakai Black and Buddy Matthews are free from the clutches of AEW. I hate how people like Meltzer who suck off Kahn blame Black and Matthews for not being booked, which is simply BS. Tony Kahn just didn’t know what to do with them and likely only signed them because LOL WWE REFUGEES!
What is worse however is that I cannot see them doing that much better in WWE, they are sadly being wasted so far in AEW (entire HOB stable could be booked better and stronger) but what will they do if they return to WWE? Buddy Matthews may be stuck in midcard, not winning a title, might become someone like Ricochet and Malakai might be involved in first few weeks/months and then be forgotten or stuck in midcard as well
Signing a 70-something year old Ric Flair is puzzling to me. If he's mostly wrestling (and not as an authority figure or manager), then Tony Khan is out of his mind!
So he could go on Sting's last run. That was explained. Also, Ric's drink company is paying both his salary and paying for promotion. WHY WOULD YOU NOT SIGN HIM???
I’m just going to name off the people and things that AEW needs to scrap all together. Rampage, ROH, Ric Flair, Satnam Singh, Parker Boudreaux, Anthony Ogogo, Ari Daivari, Colt Cabana, Dark Order, Stu Grayson, Dutch, Jeff Jarrett, Josh Woods, Lee Johnson, Matt Menard, Angelo Parker, Nick Comoroto, Ortiz, Peter Avalon, Serpentico, Shawn Dean, The Butcher and The Blade, Stu Grayson, Paige VanZant, and Yuka Sakazaki. Also make the company a little bit more exclusive, it seems like the AEW roster has to face someone not signed to the company in every match. Cut out the jobbers because those weren’t supposed to be apart of AEW at the start and now it’s every other match
Matt Menard and Angelo Parker are on TV pretty often, Jeff Jarrett is fucking old and even then he was with Lethal and the other goons on TV every time, he even """won"" the tag titles from The Acclaimed and died on screen in that weird ass fight with Jeff Hardy lol, now Lethal seems tired of the slapnuts but those 3 have had cool moments
Sadly The Dark Order lost Brodie Lee and never recovered, its still cool to have them as occasional tag acts like The Butcher and The Blade, Yuka Sakazaki is always "on japan" or some shit, never seen her on TV and i'm watching since march 2021
Melanie Cruise was a talent to look out for. At one time she was legit underrated as fucking hell and didnt get enough recognition. On the indies the was a solid hand. That being said, she was signed much later in her career and her wrestling wasn't the same anymore. It's horrible for her. She was signed when she wasn't in her prime.
in hindsight CM Punk gotta be the worst AEW singing. constantly inured, was involved (whether he started it or not) in lots of drama and fights that just kept aew in a terrible loop and in the end just left in bad taste.

You need to look at who came in and instantly failed like Kylie Rae Peter Avalon and Sonny Kiss, Ric Flair only came back for Stings retirement which is fair because he’s his greatest rival he had to be there.
Parker Boudreaux: idk why they signed a dude who speedran failing out of NXT. If WWE couldn't turn him into the next Lesnar, idk why AEW thought they could Mel: I can't really say just because she was there and gone before I even started watching the show but I've always heard the Nightmare Collective was terrible Flair: Yeah this was a terrible choice. He's done literally nothing good in the company and just made the company look like giant hypocrites
Out of the 200+ people on the AEW roster you could only come up with 3? Ill give TK the benefit of the doubt and say out of the 200 wrestlers on the roster he books around 24-30 each week between all 3 shows and no more than 50 unique wrestlers per month. That leaves you over 150 other wrestlers that should be on this list.
Problem is, AEW never signed Ric Flair. Flairs involvement in AEW is because he's paying AEW to promote his energy drink and part of that deal is that Flair promote the Revolution PPV and be involved in Stings retirement. That's it. He's not even on the roster. So he can't be one of the worst AEW signings, he was never signed.
I honestly never understand the hype around parker boudreaux. People were so hyped for him just because he looked like Brock Lesnar? Also when he was released by WWE people got so butt hurt even though he wasn't a good ending guy or entertaining

He can do a part 2 with Trench, Paige Van Zant and CJ Perry
Marko Stunt, Sunny Kiss, Luther, that one guy that comes out with an apple and Colt Cabana come to mind
Is this a straight edge society reboot . Shaving the girls head as an initiation goes back to Luna Vachon in 80s CWF. But the CM Punk and Kevin Sullivan storylines differ from the nightmare collective by having an actual story.
Saraya I’m sorry her AEW run for me has been insanely mid to bad, that win for the title at All In was just for the easy hometown Pop just for her to drop it what a month later
Worst one in AEW is Tony himself eh
I think for Rick flair was the woo energy was what got him there
I work for the world's largest grocery supplier... I've never seen one can of Woo Energy. Snap into a Slim Jim ...
Cool video as always Tom 💯
Keith Lee. They screwed the pooch so bad with him. Still tragic to see him tumble down the ranks in WWE after his NXT run and then just get relegated to bad booking across two companies. What could have been....
Keith Lee screwed himself and didn’t wanna improve
@@joeyskywalker1322 Yeah, that's not what happened... at all.
@@EvolutionSTUD10S It literally is he was told to lose weight by Vince he didn’t listen he was told to change his promo style by Vince he didn’t listen then he caught Covid and almost died afterwards it went downhill Gunther took Vince’s advice look where he’s at now and look where Keith Lee is at
Lee has been consistently injured. He hasn't been able to stay healthy otherwise they were gonna rocket him into a feud with swerve not long ago before he disappeared again.
@@joeyskywalker1322His promo style didn’t need changing to begin with
Back in the day TNA signed biggest super stars who actually made impact (no pun intended) - Kurt Angle,RVD,Jeff Hardy , Christian , Bobby Lashley etc
AEW signs a bunch of shitty wrestlers and jobbers from WWE and call them 'Stars'
Scrap the undisputed kingdom. A pointless faction.
Shaved hair can grow back, but a failed experiment just can not be fixed.
Ricky Flair would not be a useless signing if they are also using his experience in the background to make AEW better. He could be a consultant and give private criticism, and give Tony Khan facts, which he doesn't like to hear publicly.
I say those plus Miro! And Keith Lee!
They were both champions with good runs, but got lost in the shuffle
Miro just doesn't wanna lose.
Miro was a great TNT champ and whole rivalry of Keith vs Swerve (including the Swerve on Our Glory run) sadly Miro is a fucking crybaby and Keith Lee's health is always on high danger too wrestle
@@pr12rhodesgraveyard26 if WWE lost all of their top stars due to Tony Khan buying Thanos! The next line of superstars would be Oba Femi, Jaida Parker, Lexi’s King, Lash Legend, Tiffany Stratton and Ilia Dragonov! The beat goes on! And they would be beating Dynamite in the Ratings on Raw and Smackdown! 😂
@@deyampert3738 bro don't disrespect Oba Femi and Tiffy putting them with Brian Pillman Jr Man, have some respect lol
Boudreaux had a huge ego after that quote from Heyman but was garbage in the ring.
Ric Flair would've made sense if it was for a short term deal...
Then again, he's probably never appearing again in WWE and there's a good chance AEW will still pay him to sit at home.
They had the Wooo energy drink backstage at the AEW Dynasty ppv in St. Louis. I nabbed one of the lemon ones. It was horrible.
Buddy Matthews may be stuck in midcard, not winning a title, might become someone like Ricochet and Malakai might be involved in first few weeks/months and then be forgotten or stuck in midcard as well
@@michaelwasserbauer4177 Buddy M could be a potential Judgement Day member, and Black has an unfinished storyline as far as I’m concerned.
Buddy just isnt good. Hes got one of the most bland personalities ive ever seen
They signed a long contract, 5 or 7 years if I not wrong + the injury time so we won't see them for a very long time
Buddy should become a cuck type character who complains about a certain Dirty convict who's with his wife.
Man these AEW signings SUCKED! Like if you agree
Signing a 70-something year old Ric Flair is puzzling to me.
If he's mostly wrestling (and not as an authority figure or manager), then Tony Khan is out of his mind!
He's only there for his energy drink sponsorship.
he if Terry funk can still wrestle at the age of 79 why can't he and yes I know he is dead now but he was till wrestling before he died
@@coltonwilkie241still terrible signing
Well Tony is a Mark
So he could go on Sting's last run. That was explained. Also, Ric's drink company is paying both his salary and paying for promotion. WHY WOULD YOU NOT SIGN HIM???
Brock Lesnar's debut was explosive. If they can't get somewhere near that then there's no chance to create the next big thing.
Trench, Chavo Guerrero, Mel, Shanna, Ric Flair, Jimmy Havoc, Parker Bordroux, Jake Atlas, Bobby Fish, Andrade, Lio Rush, BJ Whitmer, Kevin Kelly, Vickie Guerrero
Vicky is so out of shape. Should have just played a backstage role
Shanna was actually a great signing. The pandemic just screwed up her entire run
You all forgot about Marco Stunt…why? Why was Marco Stunt having competitive matches on TV?
Parker Bordeaux looks like someone that could play Isaac Frost in an Fight Night (videogame) Movie adaption to be honest.
Was bummed that Parker was bad, thought his initial look was great but everything else wasn’t and then the look faded
As i said for Hardy before, Punk is beyond washed, dude joined the fed again and got injured on the rumble too smh
Imagine if Miro got Orange Cassidy’s push. AEW might have an actual drawing star.
Imagine if Miro was willing to “work” to take occasional losses and put guys over? yeah? I didn’t think so.
Imagine of Christmas was everyday....woo hoo....see it don't matter and your point is not a point at all.
@@nielgregory108 cool! What are you trying to get across? Some verbal diarrhea about Xmas? I’m pointing out how miro didn’t want to “work” you’d do well to do some research on the matter.
They sold out Wembley, so I'd say they have stars that draw.
Miro only has 3 moves to his set, Clothesline, Jump Kick and Uranagi...BORING
That's basically 80% of the roster were pointless signings
Personally Paul Wright
To be fair I think he will be good In the back or developmental but yeah that's not the case so I agree
Gunner Harland would’ve slapped🔥
But they booked his character all the way wrong
Parker could’ve been a crazy heel 🔥
If he returns then a few warm up matches and a 1 big win could literally catapult him right to the world title scene especially if Swerve becomes champ
For Ric is a stupedst signing of AEW. They signed him for doing absolutely nothing just for his energy drink sponsorship and that's it.
I really wanted to see what Trech could do
Is it wrong to say Keith Lee at this point?
NXT won’t give up on Gacy but nobody gives a crap lol
Tony Khan hires wrestlers as if he’s trying to build a collection of action figures like how kids did back in the day
You need to look at who came in and instantly failed like Kylie Rae Peter Avalon and Sonny Kiss, Ric Flair only came back for Stings retirement which is fair because he’s his greatest rival he had to be there.
Parker Boudreaux: idk why they signed a dude who speedran failing out of NXT. If WWE couldn't turn him into the next Lesnar, idk why AEW thought they could
Mel: I can't really say just because she was there and gone before I even started watching the show but I've always heard the Nightmare Collective was terrible
Flair: Yeah this was a terrible choice. He's done literally nothing good in the company and just made the company look like giant hypocrites
Excellent video
You forgot a one that did an absolute huge disservice to the business as a whole. Someone by the name of Phil.
Mercedes Mone,
No way in hell she’ll be worth her massive contract
Why would anyone sign a football player with a history of concussions?
Tony trying to sign everyone who left WWE
It’s Sonny kiss for me … like who was the exact audience for his type of performance.?
There's plenty of gender confused fans in the AEW fanbase much like Sonny.
Great top three from the top ten guy
Out of the 200+ people on the AEW roster you could only come up with 3? Ill give TK the benefit of the doubt and say out of the 200 wrestlers on the roster he books around 24-30 each week between all 3 shows and no more than 50 unique wrestlers per month. That leaves you over 150 other wrestlers that should be on this list.
The roster is so overloaded that Jay White and Will Ospreay look like two lower card wrestlers.
Y'all don't watch the product lol
Problem is, AEW never signed Ric Flair. Flairs involvement in AEW is because he's paying AEW to promote his energy drink and part of that deal is that Flair promote the Revolution PPV and be involved in Stings retirement. That's it. He's not even on the roster. So he can't be one of the worst AEW signings, he was never signed.
He’s signed a multi year deal with AEW so yes he’s signed
I'm a big AEW fan and I agree 1000% that Ric Flair has to be the worst signing so far.
I honestly never understand the hype around parker boudreaux. People were so hyped for him just because he looked like Brock Lesnar? Also when he was released by WWE people got so butt hurt even though he wasn't a good ending guy or entertaining
