On the GH6, the screen actually tilts up to another position beyond what you discovered. There are two detent positions... the lower one is what you found... then apply a little more pressure to click passed the detent and it goes to the second angle. I'd say the first angle is about 30° and the full tilt is about 45°

Nothing wrong with advancement in technology with the auto focus but to make it sound as though if you don't have the phase detection auto focus of the Sony you'll screw up every shot while working for a client is REALLY exaggerating things.
Any expert/pro will tell you that manual focus is the way to shoot ANY important shot...because it's pretty much guaranteed. Nothing is going to shift. The only reason
many people today are saying what you're saying, which is the opposite, is because they are depending on the auto focus. They really don't know how to film any other way. They haven't learned the craft.
Have smart phones made people smarter? Hardly. Similarly, auto focus leafs people to ignore parts of the craft. They THINK they're good but let's be honest a monkey can have the same result with the focus.
    Loved the video though. Thanks.

I had the same philosophy, shooting with a bmpcc4K And fully manual lenses. That said, a good AF system is very handy specially with small crews or solo shooters. I own the a7IV And use the a7siii quite often, And have to say that since i tried them i trust AF for a LOT, specially runing an Interview with 2 cameres, using gimbals or for fast sports if you want to shoot al low f stop.
To be honest, i feel like learning manual focus is a must, as in some shoots you still need to do it, But to deny the advantages of technology is not the way to go.
Oh yeah, and the image quality of the sony is superior to the gh6, sure you don’t get 120p in 4K but it’s a trade off I would still make

I bought the LUMIX GH6. I should get excellent video quality out of that. It’s cheap for the features it has. You’d have to spend at least $5,000 for a camera like that with Sony. I was going to go for the Sony but I always had heating issues with them. Plus it doesn’t come with a lens to work with in the box. I can always get lenses for the camera, for different situations, different shots, different work, as a fitness instructor that happens to also runs a TH-cam channel to make all of this happen, I want a lens that will shoot wide since I want the camera to capture the entire movements I’m doing.

But for photos its hard to tell a difference in CAF between the GH6 or a Sony in the majority of settings.

I have used it for months on paid and personal projects with a mix of AF and MF and our experiences are very different. Whilst Sony has been in God mode with phase detect and eye auto focus we have all come to rely on auto focus in choosing a camera. However nobody should let the camera choose where to focus in any serious film making. The flip out screen has been on Canon camcorders as a tool for capturing and monitoring footage and it's here to stay so please get used to it. Mirrorless cameras now double for capturing videos and most manufacturers recognise that a flip out screen is more suited for filming as opposed to a tilted screen.

I am a wedding filmmaker and have always been a Panasonic person. I respect everyone's point of view and all I can say is that there is no such thing as a perfect camera. At the end of the day, it comes down to people's preferences and tastes.
If you are a Sony person and Sony meets your video and photo expectations, keep shooting with Sony and if you are a Panasonic person like me and if the camera meets your video and photo expectations, keep shooting with Panasonic.
It's about getting comfortable and getting the job done, and if your Sony or Panasonic camera can give you what you're looking for, that's all you need.
Both cameras are great and offer great image quality and photos. Each camera has its own unique way of delivering image quality and best of all, there are plenty of cameras to choose from and get the job done the way you want.
One more time. There is no perfect camera, it's about what you like and what can meet your expectations.

Personally i have the sigma art 18-35 1.8 (as popular choice on gh) for canon mount with manual adapter. But would like a canon af adapter in the future. I really like the sigma lens quality.
I also own the sigma 35mm 1.4 for my full frame canon. Which makes a great look.
The 18-35 x2 crop is good for wider shots and on the go zooming when needed. I've tried just plain primes like 50mm but its too much (100mm crop). So i prefer 18-35 for most all my video work as a dependable choice in most situations.
Over the weekend i used a canon 24-105mm f4 zoom which really helped in the bright sunlight where i had a hard time focusing manually. And the sigma 1.8 would have made it more difficult.
      So i recommend zooms.
For dancing and creative free time i like the 7artisans 25mm prime as its a pancake and lightweight with great quality

Timecode, remote focus & 4-channel audio is built into the camera. 4-channel audio allows me to radio lav-mic four people and record directly to the camera on four channels. 4-people! Bride, Groom, Priest & bride's mom. Remote focus enables my focus puller to job from an IPad.

I get YTers don't always have that, but you can grab a friend who shoots Lumix and have them proof it before going live. When i write comparisons i make sure to really check up on the items I don't use and am less familiar with. So when you said that the Sony is a faster camera to use, i'm thinking, "Sure, he already said that is his system for years." That's not a balanced comparison. Nor are most of your conclusions given with little to no facts to justify your seemingly biased conclusions. This wasn't a comparison between two top cameras. It was a comparison between YOUR camera, and any other cam you don't know or use.

I do not agree. Firstly, check AF settings according to the scene and it is fine. Maybe almost as good as sony. Secondly, use also manual Focus, you cannot rely 100% on any Camera. I mean before the gh6 I had the a7siii and now I would say they are competitive when it comes to af.
And then have a Look in all the other features. Sorry, but that is an easy win for the gh6 in almost every Aspect. I use now the gh6 as Main cam, gh5 as Backup and a7siii as emergency Backup. I am a wedding videographer and mostly doing run n Gun shoots. The fact that I do not have to use a Gimbal at the gh6 makes it alone superior. If you then check the Image quality out of these small beast you will love it. Great colors, nice Details, everything so smooth. Sorry to say, but in my experience the gh6 offers me more than the a7siii and it costs half the price. I do not compare it with the a7iv since I don't think it can compete in any way except AF.

If I’m locked down on a tripod obviously there is no need for auto focus. I have shot several projects handheld in manual focus because of lens choice. It was hard work, harder than it needed to be, but I did it for the lens. Most people I talk to who die by manual lens control couldn’t handle handheld shooting by themselves anyway.
